Plus with Jared and Jensen being at the Upfronts earlier this week and at Asylum, they dropped a few hints for this next episode.
SUPERNATURAL’s @jarpad says finale has “the best last 5 seconds” of any season to date. Does it change the landscape? “Oh God, yes!” He also said “Something happens in the finale that is a first we’ll see,”
From Just Jared
Jared told JJ on the carpet. “I’d say don’t miss the last 30 seconds of the finale.
Misha told us, “I can say that the fans are going to freak out. I think it’s very chilling and disturbing. When I read the script for the finale, I was definitely shocked. I thought, ‘Can they do this?’
The last five seconds!” “I’m going to one up [Jared and Misha] and say its the last second,” Jensen said. “The moment the screen goes to black. The last second. There are multiple characters involved. There’s a predicament now.”
So what will happen? Theories abound. With the Mark of Cain, the Cain/Abel theme and Sam’s declaration earlier this this season that there are things he won’t do to save Dean, is one or both of the brothers in danger of dying. will Dean kill Sam? Will Sam kill Dean to save him from becoming something demonic like a Knight of Hell? Although it is true we have never had one brother kill the other, Sam and Dean have both died before so killing one of them doesn’t seem that shocking. Will the Mark of Cain turn Dean into a living demon? Dean was on the road to demonhood after season three, but he never went totally demonic, so that would be new. Will Sam pull Dean back from the edge? I really hope so, because I personally want Sam to get a win, but I have a feeling that Dean may not be saved this season.
Then there are the seemingly unending angel wars. Heaven has been under siege since season six and was involved in trying to bring about the Apocalypse in seasons four and five. Will we finally see the heavenly wars come to an end? Will Metatron be defeated? We know Misha is coming back next year, presumably as Cas. Will Cas lose his angelic powers again? If he does, how long until he regains them, again. Will he be part of reopening heaven? If so will he end up being barred from heaven because of his actions during this war? I mean, personally, I think slaughtering half of your family on a power trip would mean the rest of your family would never trust you again, but the angels keep taking him back, so why would stealing grace be worse than what Cas has done before?
There is also the battle for the control of Hell. Will Crowley simply waltz back in as King, now that Abaddon is dead? Will Dean be a contender for the throne of Hell because of the Mark of Cain? Will the demons throw up their hands and vote Sam in as King because they don’t like either Crowley or Dean?
I honestly don’t have a good feeling for how this is going to end. I’d love to hear other theories while we wait for the answers. The one thing I do know is our Wayward Sons will continue to Carry On.
What if Dean is in such a state because he has not satisfied the condition which makes him worthy of the mark i.e., kill his brother.
I also have nothing but bad/anxious/terrified feelings about all of this. All I know for sure is that it’s going to be angsty. According to Jared we are going to need lots of tissues in the last five minutes. I was feeling a bit better after reading Jensen’s comments about a brotherly part of the finale but reading Misha’s comment above has got me scared stiff again.
All I can think is that either Dean is going to kill Sam and in the last few seconds we see Dean with black eyes or Sam is going to kill Dean. *Cries*
I too would love to see Sam save Dean but I also think if it does ever happen it will be in next season now. Although Jared did say something at Asylum that makes me think if Sam is going to get the save then it might happen in 9.23 (I’m not sure if I should add the quote I read as I’m not sure how detailed spoilers can be here.)
I have no idea what might happen with the angel wars storyline. To be honest I would love to see it all come to an end. Sadly that storyline hasn’t grabbed my interest at all this year.
What if Metatron needs a new meat suit? Old Dean would never say yes to a possession but this current Dean…. Will he need to save a weary Cas? Sam will cry buckets. Get out the tissue.
I adore this fandom! Demons voting for Sam, Dean as a new meatsuit for Metatron- what brilliant ideas! Only, I suppose, demons will vote for Dean – after all, he’s the one who killed the previous leader while Crowley was peacefully bleeding in the chair. And Sam will be a much better choice for Metatron as we need to reverse the tables completely and make the brothers swap their angelic-demonic destinations. In the fight for control of Sam’s body Sam eventually will win, banish Metatron from his mind and become the ruler of Heaven while Dean… Stay tuned for Season10!
Love the synopsis of this episode; “Sam, Dean, and Castiel face shocking consequences when taking the fight to Metatron”. So, basically, actions have consequences 😀
I’m absolutely horrible at the speculation stuff, but that doesn’t stop me from trying –
* Metatron kills Gadreel and makes it look like Dean did it.
* Dean goes all dark side/demon and kills or tries to kill Sam.
* Sam is faced with having to kill Dean to save him from going dark side but refuses and S10 opens with Sam using the demon cure on Dean.
* Dean tries to kill Metatron but can’t and starts to go nuts from the effects of the Mark of Cain because he can’t kill him. After all, Metatron is the scribe of God and would know all about the Mark of Cain, wouldn’t he?
* Dean feels compelled by the Mark of Cain to kill Sam but can’t do it; Sam and Dean have a broment which ends up negating/erasing the Mark of Cain.
* Metatron possesses Dean
* Metatron starts ejecting human souls from heaven.
* While the angels and team freewill slug it out (I use that term loosely after Dean’s dictatorship comments at the end of the last episode), Crowley finds a way to wrest control of heaven.
* Or, less likely – Dean and Sam hug it out and finally take that long overdue vacation to Disneyland that Sam keeps talking about. Dean eats too many cheeseburgers and pies and pukes all over the teacup ride.
Can I just say how much I would love to see that last one?:D. Sam and Dean in Disneyland and riding the teacup. My new wish for season 10.
“* Sam is faced with having to kill Dean to save him from going dark side but refuses and S10 opens with Sam using the demon cure on Dean.” I didn’t even think of that! And I was wondering when they would make good use of killing hellhounds, saving souls and curing demons…Oh goodness, this just opened a while new can of theories for me!
Or the writers flip the script on the Cain and Abel story and Sam agrees to become a demon to save Dean from becoming one?
Or the writers flip the opening of the season and Sam,actually agrees to be an Angel meatsuit to save his brother? Or agrees to allow Dean to be possessd by …whomever?
I admit, i’m pretty horrible at speculation, though.
I’m going to go with The Teacup Ride at Disneyland. I like that one much more more than all the others.
“* Sam is faced with having to kill Dean to save him from going dark side but refuses and S10 opens with Sam using the demon cure on Dean.” I didn’t even think of that! The title is “Do You Believe in Miracles?” That leads me to believe that there will be a miracle of some sort, in the episode. My thoughts…
-Sam is the only one who has not uttered the phrase, “I did what I had to do” out of our major players this season. I think that might be important. Does that cast him in a “savior” role? I can see Sam agreeing to possession by an angel (or Crowley?) if it is to save Dean. Or maybe his role is to be more like the Biblical Abraham/Isaac story. He has to be willing to sacrifice Dean, or himself, but something happens so he won’t actually have to.
-I think the miracle may have to do with the re-opening of heaven, though I’m not sure in what way. All the people stuck in the veil are resurrected? Sam, Dean, and Cass enter heaven and Dean is miraculously healed of the mark? On a whim, I looked up Mark 9:23, and it says, “All things are possible for one who believes.” The context is an evil spirit being cast out. Could this happen to Dean? The title makes me think it’s a possibility. Maybe the “believing” is tied to Sam’s belief in Dean, or vice versa.
-Dean turning into a demon with the dark eyes at the end seems too obvious to me. But I could be really, really wrong. This is the first finale I’ve watched live, so I’m not used to speculating and probably not very good at it. After such a dark season, I’m hoping for a win, but that’s probably too much for this show, right?
I imagine Sam giving dean the one gift that signifies his never ending love and faith in him no matter what dean does…the amulet.was there another comment about a changing landscape? Maybe the veil is broken and all those trapped souls return to earth and they are not happy.
Nah.. But I would like to see that amulet
what if Cas has to possess Dean for some reason? Per Sam’s suggestion? Not new…but sort of. I’m not crazy about the idea…
Oh nappi I so want the Samulet back. Jim Michaels said there are no plans for that to happen but they tried to hide Gabriels return so….I would so cry.
Honestly Nappi and Cheryl, I think they may be saving it for near the end of the series. It is kind of a touchy subject for some fans but I would love to see a scene where Sam reveals he has had it all along and was waiting for the right time to return it. The last few years haven’t been. Nobody is going to spill the beans if that is the long range plan. No way! Plus I don’t think Jensen loves wearing the thing too much. I think it chipped his tooth once! 🙂
I know but at one time it was supposed to be able to locate God so wouldn’t it be great to have it be not only a symbol of the brothers love for each other but bringing God (Chuck) into the series to save his two favorite humans. Then it could disappear in a blinding white light that purifies Dean and Jensen won’t have to wear the dam thing. 😀
Oh I would love to see the amulet back again but I also think if it does come back then it will be towards the end of the series, if not the very last episode.
I don’t know how spoiled people want to be for the finale but this is a nice interview with Jared. There’s lots in there about Sam and the brothers and their relationship in the finale.

Jensen something at the end of one of his interviews that dashed my already fragile hope. Rats! another long summer of dread. Supernatural…why can’t I quit you.
I just read that coment from Jensen. Aaaarrggghhh…I was feeling good(ish) about the finale but now I am stressed to smithereens again.
I think I know the comment you’re referring to but I don’t think they’ll go there; it’s too obvious and everyone’s expecting it, which is exactly why they’ll probably “go there”. 🙂
I think I know the comment you are referring to but (if I am right about the comment I think you are talking about) I was thinking of another of Jensen’s recent comments. And that was clear as mud, wasn’t it? :p 😀
Regarding the comment you mentioned, if I have the right comment, I agree it is too obvious and that we are all expecting it. And, yeah, I think it is highly likely they will go there. 🙂 Although I’m also thinking that maybe lkeke35 is right and they will flip the switch and Sam will agree to become a demon/work for Crowley in order to save Dean from doing so. Seeings as there is, supposedly, a big twist.
Oh well. Not long now and all will be revealed. *Bites nails*
