Official Episode Synopsis’: Supernatural 9.08 and 9.09
We’re only three episodes away before Winter Hellatus kicks in, and it sounds like the show is going to leave us wrecks as we head into our holiday. Below is the official synopsis for episode 9.08 – “Rock and A Hard Place” and 9.09 – “Holy Terror”
9.08 is the return of a fan favorite! Welcome back Sherriff Mills! This episode will air on November 26th:
Rock and A Hard Place
SAM AND DEAN REUNITE WITH SHERIFF MILLS — Sheriff Mills (guest star Kim Rhodes) calls Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) for help investigating multiple murders in her small town. Discovering all four victims belonged to the same church chastity group, Sam and Dean decide to infiltrate by joining the group themselves. When Dean disappears, Sam and Sheriff Mills realize whatever they are hunting has taken Dean too and team up to rescue him. John MacCarthy directed the episode written by Jenny Klein (908).
9.09 is the mid-season finale and it’s written by…Brad and Eugenie? Really? Aww schucks. Maybe we’ll be going into the mid-season break cursing instead of fretting. Come on, these guys have to get one right sometime, right? I said RIGHT??? Anyway, this episode will air December 3rd.
Holy Terror
AN ANGEL WAR BEGINS — After a massive angel slaughter occurs, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) arrive at the scene to investigate and are surprised to run into Castiel (Misha Collins). While investigating, Castiel is captured and tortured. Meanwhile, Dean questions Ezekiel’s demands and wonders if it might be time to tell Sam the truth. Thomas J. Wright directed the episode written by Eugenie Ross-Leming & Brad Buckner (909).
Okay, care to speculate away! How many of you want to bet the episode ends with Dean getting ready to tell Sam, but it going out with Sam’s inquisitve look? We’ll find out soon enough. This season is flying by so far.
Why are Brad and Eugenie still employed?
I remember last season I was super stoked about Taxi Driver from the synopsis and then when it aired… It has to be one of my least favourite episodes in the series.
Why are they still getting assigned big, important episodes? Shit, if they have to be kept around at least put them on the MOTW filler.
The concept for Holy Terror sounds cool but I am digging a hole for my expectations.
Buckner and Leming aren’t that bad, they’ve written some good episodes. Yes, I’m a “Taxi Driver”/”I’m No Angel” apologist.
9.09 – Torture, never good! This writing team, makes me nervous. The ending you describe, that if not worse. I can’t believe we’re talking mid-season break already!
I fully expect the mid -season break to end exactly as you say. Either right before he tells Sam or directly after that moment so we won’t be getting Sam’s reaction til..whenever.
Ross-Leming and Buckner, huh?
Well, I expected to hate I’m No Angel and really enjoyed that one. It wasn’t one of the show’s greatest hits but it was a heck of a lot better than anything they did in season eight. Maybe ,in order to get good work out of them, someone just needs to hold their leashes a little tighter.
Misha getting torured again this season. Okay we’ve reached our quota on that this season and it’s time for Cas to get pro-active after this.
I’m not really that worried. I guess i am in the minority that enjoyed taxi driver…and i think i liked i’m no angel too…besides.isn’t this the eppy Jensen mentioned was hard for him…emotional dean …possibly getting a confession…that alone is worth price of admission

I think “Route 666” and “Heartache” are their only real stinkers, everything is either good to alright. Though “Man’s Best Friend with Benefits” has that weird racial issue, but if you actually look at how Portia is portrayed, she is a fairly strong willed female character.
And the biggest problem with “Taxi Driver” was that it packed incredibly too much story for 45 minutes,
