The CW Is Loving Their New Wednesday Night
The final ratings for Wednesday night’s Arrow and Supernatural have The CW super psyched. With Arrow, The CW now has a new hit show to go along with The Vampire Diaries. Supernatural, a show in it’s 8th season, is defying all odds by actually gaining viewers.
In the final ratings, Arrow actually increased viewers over the preliminary figures, closing at a 1.3 in the 18-49 demo and 3.75 million viewers. Supernatural closed at 1.0 in the 18-49 demo and 2.32 million viewers. This is all coming in the sweeps period too, which is traditionally a very bad time for The CW.
So how good is this for Supernatural? In Season 7 on Friday night, Supernatural only achieved Live + Same Day DVR ratings over 2 million once. That was the premiere, “Meet The New Boss.” In Season 8, thanks likely a lot to new partner Arrow, Supernatural out of the six episodes so far has surpassed 2 million three times. Supernatural NEVER reached a 1.0 in the demo last season. They’ve done it three times already this season.

Just to show how excited they are, The CW released a press release bragging about their new almighty Wednesday night. Enjoy the love everyone!

November 8, 2012 (Burbank, CA) – ARROW keeps on hitting the bull’s-eye for The CW. Last night was ARROW’s most watched (3.75M) episode since the series premiere on October 10, and matched its season best among adults 18-49 (1.3/4) and adults 18-34 (1.1/3) according to national Live Plus Same Day Nielsen ratings for Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012. Paired with ARROW on The CW’s dramatically improved Wednesday night, SUPERNATURAL climbed to match its season high in adults 18-49 (1.0/2) and its second most watched episode (2.3M) of the season. SUPERNATURAL was just shy of its season high in adults 18-34 (0.9/3).

Both ARROW and SUPERNATURAL continue to see dramatic increases over its Live+SD ratings once additional DVR data is factored in. On average with Live+7 day ratings, ARROW posts a 25% increase in total viewers over its overnight Live+SD ratings, and typically jumps 33% in adults 18-34 and 30% in adults 18-49. SUPERNATURAL also sees sizable gains with its Live+7 performance, improving 41% in total viewers above its Live+SD overnights, 46% in adults 18-34 and 52% in adults 18-49.
Thanks Alice, I’m loving the love that CW is finally giving to our show now that DO is long gone.
That is GREAT news Alice! Even though Arrow might be generating interest for Supernatural, once they sample it they will see what a wonderful show it is. They will see it with fresh eyes and hopefully get hooked. I love sharing my addiction with new fans. Arrow is a great show and partner for SPN on Weds. It is nice to see our little show get a little love and recognition,
this is great news to hear that it is doing great and season 8 is looking ok and at this time will be getting a seson 9 and maybe a 10 I hope it goes to that.
Love that the ratings are improved! I think Arrow & SPN are perfect ly matched and are great counter programming to the rest of the Wed night line-ups.
This is awesome. That is all. 😆
