Supernatural #1 in TV on DVD Sales For Week Ending Sept. 23rd
It’s another really successful DVD sales debut for Supernatural. According to The Numbers, in a week that featured high profile releases of shows like Modern Family, Supernatural was the top selling TV show DVD at approximately 153,712 units for total revenue of $4,609,823. Blu-Ray is unknown at this time, but it looks like that amount is under 35,000 units at least.

In comparison to season six’s sales last year, season seven is slightly lower. Of course the last 3 seasons pale in comparison to season four, which is Supernatural’s biggest selling season. Here are the sales for previous seasons:
Season Six: 182,479 units
Season Five: 193,827 units
Season Four: 245,047
Season Two: 69,000 (rounded)
Season One: 101,000 (rounded)
If you’ll notice on the chart, this total still is better than the first two combined weeks of The Vampire Diaries. There’s something to be said for a mature show like this. Congratulations Supernatural!

It is really exciting that even a weaker season like season seven can sell this well. I know or DVD sales are one reason we keep on trucking. Congrats to Supernatural on these figures.
While I refuse to buy S6 and S7, despite being a DVD completist if invested in a show, I’m glad to hear this news. It helps to ensure that we get a S9 and S10. If S8 is good, I’ll start to financially support the show again.
Season 3 is a hard one to find for supernatural.
