Voting Opens for Canada’s Constellation Awards
Voting is open for Canada’s sixth annual science fiction Constellation Awards which focuses on rewarding excellence in science fiction film and television. The awards celebrate and honor the actors, writers, and technical artists behind the best of today’s science fiction film and TV works. This year as in the past, “Supernatural” is represented in a number of categories.
The series itself has been nominated in two categories, Best Science Fiction Television Series of 2011, along with “Doctor Who,” “Eureka,” “Fringe,” “Game of Thrones,” “Stargate Universe,” and “The Walking Dead.” And Outstanding Canadian Contribution to Science Fiction Film or Television in 2011 facing off against “InnerSPACE”, “Stargate Universe”, “Sanctuary”, Muse Entertainment for “Being Human”, and Shawn Levy Director, “Real Steel”
For individual achievements in the series, members of the cast and crew have been nominated in three additional categories.
In Best Technical Accomplishment in a 2011 Science Fiction Film or Television Production, Ivan Hayden has been nominated for visual effects in the “Supernatural” episode “Meet the New Boss.”
In Best Overall 2011 Science Fiction Film or Television Script, Ben Edlund received a much deserved nomination for the “Supernatural” episode “The French Mistake.”
And in Best Male Performance in a 2011 Science Fiction Television Episode, “Supernatural has two actors nominated, Jim Beaver for his role in “Death’s Door,” and Misha Collins for “The French Mistake.” Also in this category, Dan Payne from “Divine: The Series” has been nominated for “Lips of Men.”
Nominations in five out of nine catagories ain’t half bad, people!
Lest you should all forget, “Supernatural” won the award for Best Science Fiction Television Series of 2009. The award made an appearance in the 6th season episode of “The French Mistake”, which aired on February 25th, 2011.
