Illustrated Song – Bonanza!
This is me being utterly, completely, thoroughly guilty of loving the last episode… And I simply wasn’t able to resist – I had to take the Bonanza theme song and add a few pics of our beloved guys… I trust you won’t take it amiss.
Enjoy this little Cowboy fun fest!

Bonanza
We chased lady luck, ’til we finally struck Bonanza.
With a gun and a rope and a hat full of hope, planted a family tree. We got hold of a pot of gold, Bonanza.
With a horse and a saddle, and a range full of cattle, how rich can a fellow be?
On this land we put our brand, Cartwright is the name, fortune smiled, the day we filed the Ponderosa claim.
Here in the West, we’re livin’ the best, Bonanza, if anyone fights any one of us, he’s go a fight with me, Bonanza.
Hoss and Joe and Adam (or… Sam, Dean and Cas?) know every rock and pine, no one works, fights, or eats, like those boys of mine. Here we stand in the middle of a grand Bonanza.
With a gun and a rope and a hatful of hope, we planted our family tree, we got hold of a potful of gold, Bonanza.
With a houseful of friends where the rainbow ends, how rich can a fellow be?
On this land we put our brand, Cartwright is the name, fortune smiled, the day we filed the Ponderosa claim. Here in the west we’re livin’ the best Bonanza.
With the friendliest, fightingist, loving band, that ever set foot in the promised land, and we’re happier than them all.
That’s why we call it Bonanza…Bonanza…Bonanza…
Well, there are two versions of the famous Bonanza theme song. There was one filmed for the pilot episode, as far as I found out. But it was cancelled before the episode aired, luckily, otherwise the Cartwrights would have been a one-evening wonder!
The Ill-Fated Bonanza Lyrics for the Pilot
I’ve got a flair for women everywhere—Bonanza
I’m not afraid of any pretty maid–Bonanza! Bonanza!
But when I give a kiss to any little miss, she’ll learn a lot from me
I’m not afraid of any pretty maid–Bonanza!
When I give a kiss to any little miss
She’ll learn a lot from me
Hair of brown, hair of gold, I’ll take what I see
We’re not a one to saddle up and run–Bonanza! Bonanza!
Anyone of us who starts a little fuss
Knows he can count on me
One for four, four for all
This we guarantee
We got a right to pick a little fight–Bonanza! Bonanza!
If anyone fights any one of us
He’s gotta fight with me!
ROFL! Dare I admit … I am one of those original viewers who actually remembers (and used to OWN!) a copy of Lorne Greene SINGING that theme to “Bonanza”? And I sang alone while reading this??!!
Thanks, “Jazzie”!!
Oh my gosh, Mary. I used to watch Bonanza all the time too but for the life of me I can’t remember that song or lyrics. Wow.
Don’t worry about not remembering the lyrics, Rose: they never aired on television with the episodes. You needed to be a 60’s version of a nerd to have a recording of Lorne Greene singing them … 🙂
You did, Mary? Wow… You witnessed a special moment in tv-history! Now I am so jealous… 😕
Glad to have brought these memories back, thanks, Jas
I never knew there WERE lyrics! LOL! That was great! Loved Bonanza. Thanks for that!
😆 , thanks fanotheboyz! Keep smiling, Jas
I Loved this Jas,
I remember watching Bonanza too.
I just loved Little Joe, see the obsession did actually start long ago!
I knew there were lyrics, but had never heard them before. I just remembered it as `Dum da da dum da da dum da da dum da da da da`!
All through this one there were songs spinning round my head (I know you are amazed!) 😉 Primarily ELO`s `Wild West Hero`, and of course The Eagles `Doolin` Dalton and shockingly ` Desperado`.
Ahhh the memories
Thanks Love Ju
Yes, the memories…. I am so with you here, Julie! Aren’t these the kind of memories we love and cherish?
Who reminds you more of LIttle Joe? Sam or Dean? Unfortunately, neither has a black and white car…
Love, Jas
Awwh, Dany, thank you! I also watched the reprise of the show during the 80’s with Dad often after school… Good times!
Perhaps we should vote for a revival of Bonanza with these guys? (Make that into a t-shirt 😆 ).
Love, Jas
Oh my, I didn’t realize there were actually lyrics either! I remember watching episodes of Bonanza. I always liked Lorne Greene as the head of the Cartwright family as well as Adama from the original Battlestar Galactica, & also as a spokesperson for a dog food brand (can’t remember which one, but I know my childhood dog liked it!)
What memories those are! And now we have some awesome new memories to cherish from this episode of Supernatural!
Dawn
Hi Dawn… I’m happy to have invited you to memory lane.
It’s those fun, happy memories that we need to cherish. And, yes, this episode is one of them, too!
Yeeehaaaw! Jas
