Supernatural Moments in 2010 That Make Me Smile – Part One
I’m learning something fun. If an idea worked brilliantly last year, it’s worth repeating! Last year, as part of my look back at Supernatural in 2009, I recalled several of those little moments that made me smile. You know, good episode or not, there was at least one tiny moment in each episode that reminded me why I love this show so much. We aren’t talking about jaw dropping gratuity, heart wrenching drama, or mind blowing plot twists. Just the little things that make the episodes fun.
In 2010, there were 12 episodes in season five and 11 episodes in season six. As somber as both parts of these seasons have turned out to be, there were still moments that I fondly remember. Yes, even from “Hammer of the Gods.” In part one, I’ll look at these memorable little bits from season five. In part two, season six.
Season Five
Sam, Interrupted
Okay, I don’t have to try hard here. There were not one, but two golden gems. The first to this day is a classic of which we often refer. Let’s say it together.
Pudding!!!!!
Forget Dean’s crazy antics though that weirdly got them out of the spot. It was also Sam’s reaction afterward. This is why everything these guys do turns to gold.
However, the one that really got me lasted a bit longer. We don’t see Sam at his lighthearted best too often. Especially after going through a nasty demon blood addiction and starting the apocalypse. Now he has intense rage issues. What fixes an intense fit of rage in which he almost kills his doctor? Why happy drugs of course! Who knew, drugged up Sam is happy Sam. It’s also the only time he can tell Dean he loves him, and then a second later annoy him with a “Boop” to the nose. Score one for the rare Dean Winchester bitchface!
Swap Meat
This episode should have been funny. It really had the proper setup. Instead, we got an annoying teenager who watched a wee too much Harry Potter that really should have been turned into a toad by the end. However, there is something in this mostly painfully flat episode I loved.
Who knew really tacky fast food uniforms were made this large?
Alice Jester is the founder, editor-in-chief, head writer, programmer, web designer, site administrator, marketer, and moderator for The Winchester Family Business. She is a 30 year IT applications and database expert with a penchant for creative and freelance writing in her spare (ha!!) time. That’s on top of being a wife, mother of two active kids, and four loving (aka needy) pets.
Keep them coming Alice! You go girl!Great as usual.
oh, yes, repeating the good never fails! Love this, love this, love this.
Cheers! Jas
Wet Winchesters….Why can’t we have more of that? It was the best part of that whole episode. And who doesn’t love Dean’s version of the bitch face. Its nice to know he can give it as much as take it, lol. What would be really fun would be a montage of bitch faces through the years. Hee Hee. Thanks for the early morning giggles.
That was great Alice! Love them all! Even in the episodes that we love the least, there is always something to cherish.
Looking forward to the next part.
You almost got my favorite line from Two Minutes to Midnight.
Dean: Good luck stopping the Zombie Apocalypse!
Sam: Good luck killing Death!
Aww, look at Dean’s face when he’s eating pie! It’s so friggin cute, it makes me smile 🙂
It’s easy to forget, in the midst of all the tears and pain and horror, that this show can be as funny as it is heart-wrenching. There’s some really subtle, droll, understated humour in there, the best kind!
I know I shouldn’t but I loved Swap Meat. (It’s a guilty pleasure.) Yeah, there are plotholes in it to beat the band but some scenes….. Sam/Gary in the bar ordering the banana daiquiri, ‘I would love to have the sex with you’, the breakfast scene, Sam/Gary’s ‘I’m coming’ to his dad.’ Brilliant.
‘Wet Winchesters’, too true. No more words needed.
I love ‘Boop’. Sam with his childish glee and Dean with the ‘If you were anyone else, I’d kill you on the spot’ look on his face.
‘Wait your turn’…. Oh, yes.
Deans face after ‘I told you so’…. I do that the whole time (and I’m 30, so I should be more mature than that)
And one of my all time favourite lines from The Song Remains the Same, ‘You think you can have that normal life that you want so bad, but you can’t. I’m sorry. It’s all gonna go rotten. You are gonna die. And your children will be cursed. ‘ It aches me right here (points to heart).
Roll on, part two! (rubs hands together gleefully)
This was funny. 😆 😆
Bring on the next part. 😀
That was really fun, Alice! I can only disagree with you about the Dean getting shot part because that actually made me cringe, seeing how much damage that shot did to him. Otherwise, yay!
Let us not forget, that the power of love worked for Xander against Dark Willow.
As well as for John and Bobby, when they were processed.
Loved your comment about Dean scoffing Bobby’s wifes pie from DMDWP ‘Couple Dean’s intense pleasure with a Sam bitchface and I’m in fangirl Heaven’. Me too!!
