All Dogs Go To Heaven – A Visual Review
9.
Again with the lighting! The yellow light streaming behind Sam is just brilliant, isn’t it? It makes Sam look super sketchy. Or like he’s nuclear and is seconds away from a meltdown.
10.
Dean’s really in a bad place right now, and this is a perfect visual representation. He’s sitting alone in a dark motel room, hunched over the edge of the bed and staring at his cellphone, trying to work up the nerve to call Lisa. That’s depressing.
11.
This was a really cool sequence. They both look so badass here. And it’s subtle, but Dean is in the light and Sam is in the shadow, just like the recent CW promos. Yeah, it’s a happy circumstance, but it’s still cool!
12.
I really can’t say why I like this shot so much, but I do. But robots! I love robots! And it’s RoboSam with real robots. The one on the right is totally trying to have a conversation with Sam in binary and is wondering why Sam isn’t talking back. Aw, one-sided binary robot conversation. Sad.
13.
Sniper Dean is super tough. And hot. But this angle and the lighting makes him look almost delicate. The lighting in this episode has been absolutely amazing. It’s always stellar, but wow, I am super impressed this week.
14.
Yeah, the lonely dog walking away did pull at the heartstrings. But let’s not forget that this lonely dog killed three people. Lucky’s story was tragic, no doubt, but he basically got away with triple murder. I just hope the next family he finds doesn’t have any enemies.

Boy, the location scouts really do a fabulous job finding gorgeous places for these heart-to-hearts, don’t they? They do a fabulous job anyway, but I wonder if they see a place and just know it’s going to be the Very Serious Conversation location for the week.
Wow, for a filler episode, there sure was a lot of stuff to look at. What did you guys like about that episode? Do you share my love of robots and Sniper Dean? And how about a high five for Serge Ladouceur! high five, Serge!
Thank you for this. My favorites shots are #7 (dog) and #14 (dog, again :-)). #13 (Dean Sniper) is a very close third.
Sorry, but I had to add this. I know your article is about the pictures, but sometimes your comments are hilarious 🙂 For example, for shot #7 (dog), you wrote 🙂 :
“I wonder if the skinwalker gets to choose what kind of dog it gets to be. Because it makes good sense to choose a smart breed of dog, like a German Shepherd, so that you don’t have to hide all your emotions. If you ended up as a really dumb kind of dog, you’d have to play dumb all the time, and that would get annoying.”
Hi Arde, haven’t had a chance to talk to you in a while. Just wanted to remind you that I love your visual recaps.
*raises hand for high five* I am right there with you for the admiration of Serge.
My favourites are the pics 11 to 13. I immediatly loved how badass the boys looked under that bridge. Also was wondering if we hadn’t seen Crowley under that bridge before.
You managed to get a laugh out of me with the robo conversation.
And Dean – well if I ever should be should by a sniper it better be him.
Do I have to pick a favorite?
Ok, ok, um, Sniper Dean. No, Dean lying casual on the bed. No, wait, stealthy Sam in the shadows. Oh Oh! For real this time, the bad ass boys under the bridge.
Thanks for these and the laughs that went with them. You rock. And binary code? That’ll keep me chuckling all day!
I love your visual reviews Arde , you find such beautiful pics. and you have such an eye for detail , and fantastic recall, I think you must have a photographic memory. Keep up the great work.
And can I just say 2 words — Number Thirteen !! Thank you , thank you !! 😀
11 and 13 definitely…although I have a thing for guys in white socks. 😉
Serge is the man. It’s amazing how when you watch the ep for the first time, you don’t neccessarily notice all the great stuff that goes into making scene perfect, be it the lighting or the score or even just the subtle acting. You go back through it a second time and those same things that really made the scene just seem to pop out at you. I love that you take the time to show us visually what really worked for you.
Ardeospina, love all your pics for this episode, but if I had to pick my favorites:
11. The badass Winchester brothers 😀
Sam, the brother of the darkness and Dean, the brother of light.
12. When the soulless one opens his mouth, I cringe, but when he is taking out the bad guys, I have to cheer.
13. Sniper!Dean, with his stubble and his killer eyes. 😀 😀 Let me wipe the drool off.
I love German Shephards and I love this dog, he is a good actor. HaHa 😆
Dean really has ridiculously long eyelashes for such a tough egg … Liked the one under the bridge, too. 😉
You picked some great ones, even some things I didn’t notice watching the episode. Sometimes it really takes the stills to be able to catch things when in the midst of the action, such as the light behind Sam in #9. Other favs are 7, 11, & 13, of course!
When I saw the episode, and the shot of the two under the bridge, I thought, ‘wow, that’s a good one’. Pity that it showed an exasperated Dean, and not a ‘let’s I mean business’ Dean, but they do look badass, nonetheless.
Oh, and sniper Dean. That’s a beautiful one. Helps to have a striking face in the shot, too. The camera absolutely loves Jensen, doesn’t it.
As an honourable mention: In #10, there’s something about the contrast of the light and the reflection in the window that I like.
Hey Arde- I always love your look at the shots in each episode. I enjoy your introspection. Couple of comments:
Pic #3 – with dog’s viewing in black and white – I loved how when we were seeing things from the dogs perspective that the view went to b&w, because as we all know, dogs do not see in color, so this was cool that they filmed the scene that way as well.
I loved the view of Dean on the bed, back to sleeping in his clothes. Ah Dean, you never get to truly relax, do you? But look, ma, no shoes. At least he took those off.
My heart just breaks for Dean in #10. Sitting there alone, wanting so much to talk to Lisa, to be humanly connected with someone, because he sure isn’t “connected” with Sam at the moment. Oh, Dean, I’ll be your Lisa for the time being.
#11 is just so hawt!!! Dean walking all military like with the rifle suitcase in his hand. I also found it telling the way they shot this – Dean and Sam walking so far a part from each other, which kind of mirrors the way they are personally, that far apart from each other. Usually they walk side by side, but this was very telling as to where they are sitting right now in their relationship.
Lastly, Sniper Dean. Man, Jensen has such beautiful facial features and this shot really brings those out. Especially the eyes. I love his eyes – I could just melt into them, and many times do when I look at pictures of him. This is a great shot.
As always, great highlights Arde. Always enjoy them.
