Did You Like “Two and A Half Men?”
It’s episode time! General consensus is this is a lighter one, but I have a feeling it’s going to start light and turn heavy. We’ll see who is right. As usual, when the episode is done come here and share your reaction!
If you want to know the details, we’re keeping all the episode details in our Spoiler Page. There’s plenty there about this episode near the top.
Happy episode everyone!
FINALLY……. At least we are starting to get the boys back. So glad to see Dean back.. In all honesty Dean is not stupid…It would not have taken him a year to realize this was not the life for him!
The last scene was GREAT!!!!! Now Dean can help Sam…. And we still see that Dean can have a normal life too. At Least he and Sam have someplace to go for the holidays. And we need to dump the charger, but I think that will happened soon! (Hint!) Just not the boys with Sam driving and Dean riding and no impala! We need the family back!
Just hope the boys get completely back soon. Them back, with the MOTW arc, would be PERFECT!!!!!!!
Do you think I like this episode? WRONG! I LOVED IT!!!! Been wating for this a LONG time! Hope they don’t backstep like they did last year.
YEA!!!!!!!
**** Spoiler Alert ****
Ok .. breath ..
BABY IS BACK!!! With full awesome music interlude .. I think I had tears.
Lisa was AWESOME as well .. can you believe she told him to GO? Just GO?! I did NOT see that turning out like it did for them. I’m glad they left the relationship open ended though .. ya know? A way for him to come back to her and Ben?
For a bit in the episode I really thought to myself “Oh crap .. this is WAY to cheesy for the guys” but then it all started coming together and wow is it. WHAT is up with SAM? I get the whole “tactical” thing but … wow… And Grandpa Campbell .. idk this season is just messed up.
To excited to really do much but think wow though. Can’t wait for reviews to come up tomorrow so fully grasp what all was going on because there is SO MUCH going on.
I am shedding a tear because next episode I assume is where Castiel torpedo’s Sam’s car right? Kinda sad to see such a sweet car go (I’m sure it will be remembered kindly in Bobby’s junk yard) but its time for Dean and Sam to ride together. Dean needs to straighten Sam out. I’m thinking some Bro on Bro violence is about to come screaming to the boiling point soon.
Anyway off to re-watch the episode again and again and again ………. 😆
YEA!!!!!!!! Finally!!!! A Happy ending. So great to see that last scene! Dean is back and well he should be. So gald Dean can have both..And no reason he can’t. Now he and Sam will have a family to go to for the holidays!
Please Sera Gamble, do not backstep on this episode, like last year. If the brothers get cpmpletely back together, and with the MOTW arc, this will be a GREAT year!
LOVE IT….LOVED IT….LOVE IT!!!!!!
Two of my WILDEST Supernatural dreams were realized!! Smoke On The Water! It took six freaking seasons to finally use that song! For the Impala nonetheless! Second, Sam and Dean in a supermarket. I’m not sure there’s anything left on my list! I gotta check.
I’m still scratching my head at the shapeshifter mystery, but I can honestly say it felt like my show was back. I’m pretty damned happy right now.
I’ll have a better analysis and thoughts after a re-watch, but man did that feel better.
I think that was a pretty successful outing for one of the new staff writers, Adam Glass was it? Of course, you can’t go wrong when you have Sam and Dean trying to take care of a baby, Dean tackling a granny shifter in the supermarket, a nod to the magic fingers, Lisa letting Dean go but not giving him up, and oh, yeah, getting the Impala back into the action! I enjoyed that a lot.
But Samuel, what the hell is up with him? Who was on the phone? And I’m kind of sad Mark Campbell died because he was the only one I kind of liked. Maybe because he was quiet. Did anyone else notice how Sam seems to be giving a lot of orders, like the Campbell clan looks to him a lot for approval before they tell Dean anything? And who else wanted to slap Christian for going after Dean with that torture comment?
And man, it was heartbreaking to see Dean so upset about turning into his father. At least he was able, with Sam’s help, to see what he was doing before things got too out of hand. I am even more curious to know how much Ben and Lisa know about his hunting life because Ben seemed to know an awful lot. I’m just so glad Lisa and Ben are going to stay around, even if in the periphery.
And it was so telling that Dean called the baby Bobby and Sam called it John. That was really interesting.
Lots to like about this episode.
Alice, yes! Smoke on the Water is such a cool song. Perfect use of it, too.
That shapeshifter was a total badass. But the breeding thing is super creepy. Maybe it’s trying to build an army of shapeshifter babies!
*Must remember to breathe* That was AWESOME. I think my neighbors are concerned I cheered so loud at the end. And they’re probably wondering why I’m yelling about an Impala. Parental!Dean was a great new facet of his character, I don’t trust the Campbells, and Sam is worrying me to no end. This season is awesome so far. I hope it holds.
I WANT MY SAMMY BACK!! I really hope it doesn’t take all season.
And Lisa… coolest chick ever? Just might be.
The last scene was definitely the best of the whole episode! 😀
**Spoiler Alert**
Yes! It was good!!!
The whole taking care of baby thing was hilarious. Love’d Grandpa Campbells compound though…..awesome!!!! 😮
Once again sitting on the fence – loved much of it – not sure about some of it. Loved Dean and the baby, Impala’s return, the whole grocery store scene, Bobby John (?!), the baby’s big ‘shift’, the blood & gore, Dean confronting Sam, and Lisa & Dean’s agreement. Wish Dean had gone to talk to Ben & explain a bit more. Why is Sam such a dick? He told the others about Dean in hell? Campbell’s – oh well, one down, three to go!!! Who is giving poor Gwen those awful lines? Who could possibly like her? The whole ‘we’ll raise the baby ourselves’ – what a way to drag an episode down.
Oh well – Dean & Baby’re back!!!!
I think Samuel is working for this man:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Smoking_Man
I think we should start a new slogan. “Parker Lewis Must DIE!”
Nice shout out to X-files who already did a story of a shape shifter impersonating a bunch of husbands and getting the wives pregnant. I hope it was a homage and not just idea theft!
Loved the baby & his unexpected shift, the whole grocery store scene, Dean & Lisa, Dean & the baby, Dean & the Impala!! What the hell (!) is going on with Sam? What a dick? Not liking it at all. One great thing – Campbells – one down, 3 to go!!! That Gwen is horribly written – who is giving her those terrible one-liners? How could anyone like her character?
I wish Dean had talked to Ben and straightened things out – we know why he didn’t want Ben to touch the guns but he needed to talk to him. I feel like the first two episodes are just trying to get Dean out of his ‘home life’ and back on the road. Looking forward to next week.
sorry – my first post didn’t appear to work and then it popped up after I revised and reposted!! I must be more upset than I thought!!
Yes, Alice! Or at the very least he must be punched in the face a few dozen times. Dude is really starting to tick me off.
LOVED IT!!!
Alice-Put Smoke on the Water on my Supernatural soundtrack list about a year ago. So glad it actually made it into an episode!
Loved seeing Sam driving but it should have been with Dean in the Impala. (No offense to the Charger fans.)
Loved Lisa! Glad she & Ben will still be around.
We all seem to feel about the same about the Campbells. It’ll be intersting to see where they take that part of the story.
Sam! What are you hiding behind that mask?!?
I love Dean giving the baby a small drop of whiskey. “Good, isn’t it?” Bwah! Then the next scene has some sweet looking Chevelles. The show is back!
Also, Sam’s hair is smokin’ in that scene when he’s talking to the dad at the garage. Smokin’! That’s making the good hair list. Also, magic fingers. Yay to the writer for continuity.
I laughed hysterically at the part in the supermarket when Bobby John turns his head quickly toward Dean and Dean does that amazing sort of “Oh, crap, he’s looking at me” jump thing. What an awesome reaction.
I enjoyed the episode as well. And like most of you, I am right there with the same wonders.
I’ve already written my review and sent it to be posted..you’ll know why I got it done so fast once you read it but I have a couple things to add based on everyone’s wonderful comments…
Smoke on the Water…it’s better as the song and not just as Dean’s ring tone.
Ardeospina, I didn’t note what you had, that Dean called the baby Bobby and Sam John, wow, that’s a good look inside their heads right there.
I do like that the whole Dean has torturer bit hasn’t been dropped that it’s just slipped into the conversation at frankly an appropriate moment to keep what we know about him present as well as to cause me to wonder just how did Christian know about Dean’s time in hell. Did Sam tell him? I’m not so sure, although it’s possible, still, not sold on that. Perhaps Christian knows a nasty angel on the loose (no, absolutely do not mean Cas but if monsters are roaming, why not some bad angels as well.)
Speaking of angels…Cas is back!!! Cas is back!!! Cas is BACK!!!!
I’ve been totally enjoying the show without him but that preview showing his feet and the trench coat…oooh, CAS. IS. BACK!!!!!
Okay. Gotta go…not to rewatch, but you’ll understand that when you read my review.
I heard Smoke on the Water on my car radio this afternoon & thought that would be awesome to use in an episode. LOL
I noticed those pretty Chevelles too.
Yes! Baby is back!
Gotta go rewatch!
The last scene literally gave me chills! I smiled sooo big to see Dean with that look on his face, getting into the Imapla and ready to hunt again!
Still reeling and smiling and full of happiness. So, very little processing going on.
The Impala!!! Woot! Welcome back beautiful girl. Happy to see you.
Lisa is amazing. Just wow. And kudos to Cindy for making Lisa so great but also so human. With the kind of beautiful strength and sense that the writers are giving to Lisa, she could become annoyingly perfect. But she remains multidimensional, though we’ve only ever really seen her in a good light.
Loving the boys bonding but…well. I still love you John! Sigh.
Loving how Sam is smiling more. True, they are a bit surfacy, but smiles all the same.
I’m sad over Mark, I’d had hopes for him. Appalled over Christians comment to Dean about hell and interested in how Sam is playing the peacemaker. Need to watch again to catch the nuances.
It’s hard to believe, but I’m walking away from a Supernatural episode feeling happy. Sure, the brothers aren’t really back together, Sam isn’t our Sammy and mystery abounds surrounding the Campbells, but no gut wrenching angst. No sobs. No yelling at the screen. Nope, feeling pretty good. Not sure about everyone else, but my fist was pumping and I was cheering by the end. Alternate universe? Or just one awesomely good show?
I am so happy now it is ridiculous 😀 😀
So many wonderful things in just 40 mins !
How did I love Dean singing that riff from Smoke on the water to that baby ?
And yelling Yes! so loud when that tarp came off
Love Lisa she is perfect
Hate those Campbells ( sorry about Mark Arde, I know you thought he was the only one with possibilities there) Who was on the other end of that phonecall?????
Sam still worrying me but at least now we have our boys back together again AND next week our wonderful little nerdy angel returns as well.
Baby you’re back!!!!! i’ve a big ol’ grin on my face because of that.
Sam is worrying me but he seems to be less stoic than last week, we’ll see what prolonged exposure to dean will do…. i’m sure the world of good.
i loved them in the supermarket “crying in t-10 minutes go…”
samual samual samual what are you up to? is it just me or is it everytime dean doesn’t agree with samual samual brings up mary … suspicious!! me thinks he’s trying too hard to get dean on side.
yup the campbells have to go, they killed mark (the only one i liked) so the rest can go just as quickly please.
also who didn’t like lisa and her well lets break the rules!!! hell yes! she’s a girl after my own heart, lets keep her.
i’m looking forward to where this is going … bring on next week!
This ep has made me more excited for this season. I appreciate how long it is taking for the boys to come around. It’s more believable. You can’t just have… ‘oh you’re back. How long?’ ‘A year.’ ‘A year? Are you kidding me? Oh, well, okay. That’s alright. Let’s ditch this broad and go kill some shit.’ ‘Right there with ya, brotha.’ 😉
I totally called Mark being the first to go. Although it’s too bad, cuz I did like him best out of all of them. There’s humor in his silence.
Lisa is bad ass and a Law Breaker! hell yeah. But I’m concerned for their safety. He should have given her a few ninjas w/ guns lessons before taking off. Just enough to be able to protect herself and Ben, cuz I have a feeling there really is something coming after Ben. Too much foreshadowing with the hallucinated YED comment and then Ben being so willing to pick up a weapon.
My 6 yr old watched w/ me last night and his eyes bugged out on the baby shift. 😮 ‘How does that happen?’ he wanted to know. I could practically hear him thinking WTF? LOL
Then he was shouting for Sam’s help w/ the shifter had Dean up against the wall. I’m starting him young. 🙂
I actually kinda agree that a shifter raised hunter would be a good idea. Think of the possibilities. but not raised by that puke, Christian. He’s have to be raised by Sam & Dean.
I don’t think there’s anything WRONG w/ Sam. I think he’s just been around those ubber creepy Campbells for far too long. Now that Dean’s really back he’ll be able to straighten him out. A good brotherly pounding never hurt anyone.
Can’t wait for Cas!!!
Gosh, of course I loved it! HAven’t read any of the comments above to keep my impression fresh for writing, but I laughed hysterically at times.
Sam at the possibility of baby needing fresh diapers ‘God I hope not’, Ha! Dean’s ‘you just stand there and think at me!’
more, more ,more… And I want Bobby-JOhn…. That baby is so adorable….
happy, JAs
Looking at Samuel Skinner Pileggi on the phone, I wonder what a crossover between The X Files and supernatural would look like. Can anyone imagine Mulder, Skully and our Boys, all in the same team?
Despite everything, Sam smiled more in this single episode than he did the entire Season 5. Good, very good.
Sorry Lisa, you’re great, you really, really are. But Dean belongs on the road with Sam. 😉
I about lost it when Dean fed that baby a drop of whiskey–thought I’d crack a rib, that is SO Dean!!! Probably my favorite moment 😀
“Parker Lewis Must Die!” LOL, there goes another rib. I like the tension the Campbells bring into the mix though. Too bad about Silent Mark, but I’m thinking the budget being what it is he stays dead…
Lisa totally rules–I’m so with Dany and Ardesospina. Strong, smart, straightforward, doesn’t take any crap and totally gets Dean–where his head is, what he’s able and not able to give . . . their scenes together are so bittersweet, and Cindy Sampson holds her own across from Jensen, they both convey complex emotional layers and conflicts so well in just a few brief scenes…
I’ve got a bad feeling things will not end well, hallucination or no, Yellow Eyes saying “You know something’s coming for this one” is way too ominous. Screwed up as John was, he kept those boys alive… Will there be a price for not turning into John?
Speaking of, anyone else getting frissons of John from Grandpa?
😆 😆 😆 Samuel working for the Smoking Man, how awesome would that be??? 😆 😆 😆 ‘Course William B. Davis already made a cameo as a damn shady professor, what a waste. I’m thinking something pulled Samuel back from the dead for a specific task. Wonder if Samuel knows EXACTLY why and how he’s back.
Nicely spotted X-files parallel from MyMadWorld! I vote for homage.
The bros naming their baby–“Bobby”/”John”, highlight some emotional tension in a totally hilarious way, very cool and very Supernatural…And yeah, Jas, that baby was cuter than the Yorkie, even.
Cas coming back, very exciting… in the exact same trenchcoat. Of course they can’t change the outfit now, but seriously Cas, do you keep poor Jimmy on lockdown with a few bags of White Castle when you’re up in Heaven? Maybe he’s just contractually obligated to put the outfit back on when you decide to drop back in.
9Tiptoes, 😆
Smoke on the Water!!! When that song started playing I thought, no way, they had to have used this before, it’s been on my SPN playlist too, for ages, just couldn’t remember the ep–then elle2 pointed out it’s Dean’s ringtone! Thanks!
See, Dany, I can’t keep my random thoughts under control either.
Great episode! That last scene with Dean pulling the tarp off the impala…I yelled, “YES, HE’S BACK!” My kids just looked at me like I was nuts. I don’t really like or trust the Campbells…but I have to say my favorite scene in the whole show was when they brought the baby to the compound. Jensen did such a good job with this scene. I could just feel his angst, his worry, and his distrust of this supposed family he has had thrown at him. He made it feel so real. And Sam just standing there looking all stoic. Did he tell those Campbells about Dean’s time in hell? If he did I’m not liking that. And I loved Lisa again. Kudos to her for understanding Dean so well. I hope her and Ben stick around for a long time!
GAAHHHHHH!! ::giggles with excitement:: What a great episode. I loved it.
I’m glad we didn’t have to wait too long for the Impala to get back on the road, but I also really like Sam’s Charger. Maybe we can have 2 cars for a little bit??
Until this episode I probably wouldn’t have said there was anything wrong with Mitch Pileggi’s acting….well, not that there was anything wrong with it but maybe it was more what we were getting of Samuel. It was a little too on the surface for me. But this episode?!! Fantastic, something to really grab on to. I am totally appreciating his presence.
I actually said “NO!” to the TV screen when the shifter killed Mark Campbell. That was great – I haven’t been hooked into an episode that much for a while.
I too wish Dean had explained to Ben why he was so against teaching him how to hunt monsters. What’s the bets that we find out Ben, or even Lisa and Ben, realize the situation and start trying to protect themselves a bit???
Christian letting the torturing thing slip – don’t forget, we don’t know who Samuel was talking to at the end of the episode, we know Crowley is back – maybe a Demon told the Campbells about Dean’s time in Hell???
GREAT episode. Must rewatch.
Truthfully, I enjoyed this episode more than last week’s. 😀
All the spoiler pics from this episode showed a black baby, and when he turned up in the show, it was a big WTF moment. ❗
I was pleased that Lisa let Dean go, because I am sure that Dean may not have left her if he didn’t have her blessing. But I am not sorry to say goodbye to her and Ben. Why was Ben messing with the Impala :-?: :-?:
What can I add to the happiness that we all felt upon hearing the intro of Dean’s ringtone. SMOKE ON THE WATER rules ❗ ❗
And the smile on Dean’s face when he pulled the tarp off a very shiny Impala. He was returning to his real home. And in the promos for next week, we see Sam returning as well. 😀 😀 😀
We have the best show, and SUPERNATURAL has the best fans. 😀
What’s not to like about this one? Except for those Campbells I mean.
Dean and Sam with a baby, hilarious!
Love Lisa. Just the best woman for Dean ever. (Jo could have been that, but unfortunately wasn’t meant to be). God, I hope they don’t hurt Lisa and Ben (meaning the writers). I can’t take any more tragic deaths. Ellen and Jo were enough. (But they can off the Campbells as soon as they like, after Dean gives Christian a great beat down, of course) 😉 Gwen and Christian give me a great pain in the ass.
Tolerated Sam a little more this time, but still am worried about him. Hope he isn’t trusting the wrong people or creatures AGAIN!
Can’t wait to see Cas again.
Wonderful the Impala got out from under that tarp. Just felt so good about the ending. Dean and Baby are back! 🙂 All we need now is Sammy becoming Sammy again and the world is back on track. 🙂
This episode was awesome! I’m gonna kinda give an insight on all the prominent characters in the episode.
Dean: Really good episode for him. Sure, things were getting harder for his normal life. But what can you say when times are tight? I really liked the way Dean handled “Bobby John” (that name cracks me up). With the counter-crying in the supermarket, the swig of alcohol for the baby to taste, and trying to protect it from the Alpha shapeshifter posing as himself. And it’s good to see that we have our hunter Dean Winchester back.
Sam: More emotional than the premiere, and just overall a really good episode for him, too. I know a lot of you might disagree, but I’m really liking the new, reasoning, tactical Sam. I sorta like how he’s flying solo for a bit, but we all know it’s not the same without Dean. Sam did strike a good point in the episode, though: not all hunters are head cases.
Samuel: I’ve got little to say about this fellow. I have to say, his tedious attitude towards working with the computer is very amusing. And I think I’m starting to warm up to Samuel. That doesn’t mean I trust him, though. What in God’s name is he up to? And who’s he working for? In the premiere, there was suspicion as to why he kept one Djinn alive, and this episode lightened it up only by a bit. He’s giving someone (bad, by the looks of it) different types of monsters for some reason.
Christian: He needs to go screw himself. That Alpha should’ve killed him.
Lisa: I love Lisa now. She’s such a good girlfriend. She’s really understanding. And I love her idea about letting Dean go hunt with Sam and just coming back to her whenever he can. I think that might actually work. Considering that Dean’s the hunter here, and if monsters want someone in that family, they won’t go to Lisa’s house. Not anytime soon, at least.
Ben: I really liked how Ben said he wanted to be a hunter like Dean, it goes to show how much he really looks up to Dean. But it is understandable that Dean would refuse to teach him those ways.
The verdict: This was a really good episode. Really digging the new format of the show. And I can’t wait for the next episode (that’s playing on my b-day!). Castiel is back, and the Impala is back! Can’t wait! 😎
Yippee! Game on! Deep Purple! That smile at the end! L and B not dead yet! Happy day! 😀 😀 😀
PS. I though that was a pretty good episode, actually.
great episode. loved the scene at the end. it was like meeting an old friend after years apart when that tarp came off & that grin came back. smoke on the water is one of my favorites & it was good to hear it on my favorite show as something other than dean’s ringtone. did anyone else notice the look on sam’s face when christian made the comment about dean’s time in the pit?
