DEAN GETS STUCK IN THE ‘40S.
The series has been back in the past a number of times, but this week’s time traveling event maybe the best of all! Just when you thought “Supernatural†had done it all, the brothers cross paths with Chronos, God of Time (played by Jason Dohring), and Dean ends up back in the 40’s. See what happens when you anger a God! Sad for Dean, but fun for us!

Not only will he be in one of the most iconic periods of all time, BUT he gets to team up with Elliot Ness (played by Nicholas Lea) and chase after Chronos in “Untouchable†style. Really…how much more fun can it get!
Here’s the setup: Once Dean gets zapped back seven decades or so, he gets arrested…

….And ends up in the company of none other than the one and only Eliot Ness.

The two soon discover they have something in common… they’re both hunters! Yep…how cool is that! Ness even has his own trunk of weapons!

Not surprised Dean chooses a Tommy gun. Just wondering if he gets to bring it back with him.
But before the duo can deal with the bad guys, they need to get Dean suited up in period clothes. So while Elliot waits, the transformation of Dean takes place… and it is astonishing! Gorgeous suit, overcoat… and what a fedora.

Yep Deano, you’re looking good. Glad to see him smile again after that very depressing episode last week.
The CW really went all out with the photo stills this time, releasing 20 of them in all, and yes…all to do with the 40’s part of the episode….that being the biggest draw for the series this time. And as for the cast and crew, well it seems they REALLY had fun with the episode too.
"It's a really compelling time period, it's beautiful, and it was so fun to shoot," Gamble says. "It very quickly just became a production question about pulling it off in the time and the budget that we have. Our crew are miracle workers, so the episode looks great, and I can't wait for everyone to see it." I think with all the beautiful photos we ALL can’t wait to see it.
Once the elder Winchester is all decked out, he has no problem fitting in with the Untouchables vibe. And for what it's worth, Dean doesn't seem too unhappy about being in 1944, teaming up with the famous Eliot Ness, packing a Tommy gun, and shooting some bad guys.

Love the war bonds poster.
All the while Sam is desperately scrambling to figure out a way to bring his brother back to the present since they no longer have a friendly neighborhood angel to warp time for them. But the spoilers say he is shocked by the return of an old friend who does. Who is it? Well best guess is Sheriff Jody Mills (played by Kim Rhodes), since she tweeted about the time the episode was being filmed that she was headed to the series set to work with Jared. Glad they are using more female characters for hunters now. Just hope they get a better handle on how to write them. Strong female characters seem to pretty scarce on the series, but it would sure be a boost to the show if it had a few…... AND DIDN’T KILL THEM OFF!
Now we need a handle on the MOTW, which is the angry God of Time. So, who is Chronos?
In Greek mythology, Chronos is said to be the Personification of Time. He was imagined as a god, serpentine in form, with three heads - those of a man, a bull, and a lion but usually portrayed as an old, wise man with a long, gray beard, such as "Father Time", so the series is going in a very different direction here. But twists are always fun to see.
In the SPNverse, he apparently is a man in a fedora who drains the life energy from his victims till they are dried up and ‘look like raisins’, if you want to believe the crazy witness Dean and Sam interview as, get this “ Special Agent Smith and Special Agent Smith, no relation†in the promo clip.

The guy at first is reluctant to tell them the story as he doesn’t want to be laughed at again. Seems the other ‘suits’ deemed him to be a fruitcake. Once Dean reassures him they won’t laugh…

…..he tells them he saw his neighbor in the alley with a ‘dude that was dressed like my grandfather’ who had his neighbor by the neck.

What he meant by ‘dressed like his grandfather, was that the guy was dressed in snappy shoes, suit and wearing a Justin Timberlake hat, which Sam correctly guessed was a fedora.

When Sam asked him if he saw anything else, he relates he saw a red-like energy pass from his neighbor to hat-guy…

……even his watch stopped. He continued that his neighbor aged before his eyes…until he looked like a raisin. With the story over, Dean and Sam look like even they are unconvinced.
Just LOVE the look on Sam’s face.

While Sam diplomatically reassures him that they believe his tale, the look on Dean’s face tells another story all together. Hehehe

Too bad for Dean too, he should have believed him, because the description of the witness very much fits a shot we saw in the trailer clip.

Yep…must be Chronos absorbing a ‘life energy’ from his victim…which is not a new concept. It’s been done many times before in the genre, but it always fun to see. And it certainly would explain the picture from the file Dean was carrying.

Yep….looks likes a raisin to me!
What else does the trailer show? Mostly film of 1944, creepy shadows on walls, Dean being tackled from the rear, Dean and Ness breaking down a door, and both him and Ness really shooting up the time period. Looks like a lot of action in this one.

There is a very short scene of Sam with a very worried look on his face and very wind blown hair. Maybe that’s what happened when Dean was sent back in time.

And a scene of Dean very reverently putting on his fedora, smoothing the brim, while he and Ness say "Lets kill that bastard.....Because that’s the Chicago way"

Yep…Dean is definitely enjoying the 40’s! Wonder if he has more fun here or back in the old west. Good convention question.
The information doesn’t stop there though. In another clip we see more of the shadowy figure we’ve seen in some of then other clips released.

Turns out it’s Dean, and he’s creeping around outside a house in the dark.

He eventually picks the lock and goes inside form a closer look. When shadowy movements under a door, Dean becomes wary, starts to draw his gun, and gets tackled from the side.

The scrimmage doesn’t last long as we hear a woman calling. The attacker turns and we see its Chronos.

We also see Ness has the woman restrained and a gun in her side.

Nice piece of leverage there. Maybe this is how Dean back to his own time?
Yet another promo was release which is ’60 glorious seconds of the atmospheric, gun-toting, film-noir goodness’ that we can expect to see on this Friday’s episode. We see mainly bits and pieces from the earlier clips but its set to some really cool period music. We also get to see some of Sam working on getting his big brother home.

Those photos on the wall are some of the black and white pictures we see up close in other clips.
Last by not least, the Canadian station CHCH has some more cool stuff. We see Dean saying he’s untouchable now and loving every minute of it, kissing a girl and Sam landing some mighty fine punches on Chronos. Hope some of these fight scenes are long. Haven’t see a good ‘knock down drag out’ in a while.
Whew… that is more clips than I have every seen for any other episode. Hope that means there is something mighty fine here that we get to see…besides Dean in a hot fedora!

As for Lea as Ness, didn't care for him much on the X-files, but what we saw of him in these clips looked promising. Don’t think anyone could ever measure up to Robert Stack however.
LOL Yep! "Just the facts, ma'am"
I had to squee on seeing his name listed with this episode - Mr. Dohring will now and forever hold a spot in my heart, after his portrayal of Logan on VMars and Josef on Moonlight.
Super excited to see this!
