What is this episode 10 promo. I can't even...

Spoilery?

From the promo it looks like Sam says yes to Lucifer plus Billie shows up in it later. This makes my brain wonder if, as a condition to saying yes, Sam asks Lucifer to kill him since Billie's threat of the big Empty where there is no coming back in episode 2 was, well, empty because that is exactly what Sam asked of Death in 9.01. That would leave Lucifer possessing Soulless!Sam -- not a completely empty vessel. That could be interesting.

Oh wow! Thanks! I had a hard time getting it to pause at the right moment.

I gotta say, the surprised and concerned look on Cas's face is what makes me worry the most about this. He rips open his shirt to reveal the carvings/scars. Hmm, so either it suddenly appeared and that's why he ripped open his shirt at that moment, or it was there and he honestly didn't know or realize for a while.

It raises a lot of questions, but I love to speculate, so let's see what I can come up with. Makes me wonder what Cas has gotten himself into this time that he's serving as some kind of messenger. And ya gotta wonder "who" it is that is coming. I remember Misha saying in an interview that he definitely was NOT any kind of conduit between earth and heaven; that he was cut off and very much out of the loop. So, that leads me to believe that whomever is coming is not another angel. And, Many seasons ago, Joshua told us that God was on earth...so I guess it could be him sending the message, but, a couple of issues with that.
1) Why would God want or need to warn anyone that he's coming? He's God... he can just come and go as he pleases, no? LOL.
2) If it IS God, then I guess that would definitively rule out Chuck as God (at least in my book). Why the hell would Chuck (the funny little awkward guy that we all know) find it necessary to carve anything into Cas's chest like that? Ya know... that's just weird.
3) If it ISN'T God, then what?? Or who?? Lucifer?? I just can't bring myself to believe that he would think it necessary to warn anyone either...lol.

It seems to me that Cas (either alone or with Dean or other people) are trying to summon someone or question where someone is. It seems most likely that the 'someone' in question would be God. And that whatever method or means they are trying to use to communicate requires Cas to serve as some kind of conduit so they can get their answer. Oy! lol.

OY, if it's the attack dog spell then I'll be annoyed that the stupid spell hadn't gone away yet. Usually they will show someone going through PTSD after an event has taken place, not in the middle of it. So, if Cas is still in the middle of this dang spell then it'll feel like it's gone on too long.

I can see it being Michael though. Yeah, like you say, a good guy would likely not carve anything into someone's chest like that. But, Cas did vanquish Michael with a Molotov Cocktail (so he would be pissed with Cas) and I, personally, never saw Michael as a "good guy". He and the other Angels were more like "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" kinda deal for me.

But then, I feel like if it is Michael....eh...who cares? It's God that we all want to meet and see in action, including Amara. I mean, yay Adam is out of the cage (though I think he was already dead and his soul in heaven when Swan Song happened.), but Michael is only necessary to have around if Lucifer is out. So, unless Luci does get out of that cage in hell, I can't see a dire use for him. Maybe Michael is strong enough to fight the Darkness..... But we don't even know Amara's status atm. Plus, they've spent half a season establishing a link between Lucifer and Amara, so to throw Michael into it now would seem odd.

I don't know, maybe I'm wrong about everything. I just truly love speculating and batting around ideas. Especially when it comes to Cas

Oh! Interesting take on it. I can totally see Cas making a deal to save Sam, too. The thing is, Cas looked concerned and surprised when he opened his shirt and revealed what was carved. So, if he made a deal, I would think he wouldn't be so surprised. But, it's hard to tell what's going on in a scene or a scenario with only 3 seconds of footage from it. Hahahaha.

As far as Cas's vessel, I see what you're saying there. So, it's possible Cas is offering up his own vessel for Lucifer in exchange for Sam? While I can see Cas doing that, I'm not sure Lucifer would go for it. Cas isn't nearly as powerful as Lucifer, so I dont think his vessel can hold Lucifer any longer than the Mark Pellegrino character could (I forgot the actual character's name in the show! LOL).

The carving being a side-effect or result of the Attack Dog spell would be a lot more tolerable to me than it just simply being the spell itself. Although, that makes me think. All the clips we saw in the promo won't necessarily take place in that first episode we will see in January, will they? I imagine a majority of the clips are from episode 10, but a few could be from episodes that will air later on. So maybe the carving on Cas's chest has nothing to do with Lucifer or the Darkness or even the spell. It could be something else that poor Cas gets himself into that's significant for him but unrelated to the current story arc. Sigh. I need more intel. LOL.

Interesting and lots of theories Watching & re-watching the above video for Ep10 I do now believe the first bit all the Christmas stuff isn't part of the episode. Its a joke on us -- Saying Merry Christmas and Hahahaaaaaaaa you have to wait till January.

If you notice "Skull Cemetary" thats from Swan Song thats where the apocalypse went down. I metioned in another post that Dean still has 3 rings left I think he goes to Billy to see if she has Death's ring and he will take the 4 rings to the cemetary say the incantation and open up the hole to get back to hell to save Sam. This action may or may not release Lucifer. Lucifer said he can't live top side without a vessel, so I can't work out how this would work. I just hope there is no deals done. !!!

As for "I Am Coming" we all won't to believe that it's god but I think its to early in the season for such a big reveal. And it wouldn't have anything to do with the attack dog spell
If we step back a moment and think about it Cas is a warrior angel with know great power -- Lucifer is a Arch Angel with great power I couldn't see Cas being a vessel.
We have in the game at the moment Amara, Lucifer,Crowely,Rowenna, Billy. Sam. Dean, Cas. Who would be coming

The Christmas scene is in the episode. It is NOT a joke. They would not spend so much money filming the scenes, just so that they are in the preview.

That being said, I do NOT believe the Christmas stuff is too much of the episode. It's probably just in the pre-credits portion, and it's just a dream that Sam is having while in the Cage with Lucifer.

I think most of what will happen in the episode has not been shown. We have to wait and see what the episode will be like.

Yes, I agree with JJA. It is NOT a joke. The fact that the only people in the Christmas scene are the exact same people in hell kinda gives that away. It's part of some story they are telling. If it was a joke, then Misha and Jensen would likely have been a part of it as well. And it would be an awful waste of money for them to build a set and get costumes and hire the actors all for less than 30 seconds of a preview that would take place as an afterthought. Nah. It's definitely an actual scene, but it probably wont dominate the episode. It'll be some kind of brief sequence we see.

I do recall *someone* on Twitter (Jim Michaels perhaps...??) saying that we will have more angel action in the next episode. He was probably referring to Castiel, but some of us have hopes that the Christmas scene is a trick from our favorite...trickster. hehehehheh

If that is the truth then that would actually lift her to be the evil she should have been all along. It did seem that the spell was rigged at the start or she sabotaged it during Sam's and Lucy's talk. Don't know how Lucy could be Crowley's father though. The timelines don't really match for that one.

Let the speculation begin!

I, too, believe that the Christmas scenes were just filler and fun. The crew has been known to do that. There was a scene on the gag reel for season 10 where Jared, Jensen, and Misha dressed up in ugly Christmas sweaters and delivered their dialogue. The crew has also put together their own trailers ("Shaving People, Punting Things" and posted them to Twitter. This bit of fun just got network approval. And it serves the dual purpose of keeping the upcoming episode shrouded in mystery.

My theory on the carving in Cas' chest.- Lucifer was communicating with Sam through visions. Perhaps Dean and/or Cas is attempting to communicate with Sam through a vision to let him know to hold on, that help is on the way. Appreciate the effort to get that screen grab. I was a little concerned when I saw the previews that Cas would attempt to get Sam away from Lucifer by using himself as an angel bomb like Gadreel did. (Though I didn't think that they would kill Cas.)

Question - the angels that confronted Amara just showed up in the field with her and Dean, but I thought that angels were no longer able to teleport after they had lost their wings when they fell. ???

This is my first interaction here! EXCITED! xD
Well, that synopsis worries me on some levels! Why wouldn't Dean go after his brother and see where he's at instead of looking into what happened to Amara! I mean he told him to not do anything until he gets there and Sam ignored that request! So now what Dean forgot the small thing they were doing TALKING WITH LUCIFER IN HELL! That doesn't sound like something Dean would do at all! Also, why do the writers insist on developing Cas and Dean's profound bond excluding Sam from the equation? One of the best episodes in the entire series was the executioner's song where the three of them were working together! Don't get me wrong i love it when those 2 team up its just them teaming up and also not looking for Sam does not really fall into the brothers having each other's backs and developing their relationship. What will Cas do when he finds out what the boys were up to before Dean contacted him?! I hope for a scolding like no other! XD

Hi everybody and HAPPY NEW YEAR Why OH Why isn't hellatus over hohummm 2 wks to go YEAH. Anyway bored So I was thinking and doodling and came up with the idea Cas could be god !!?? Have we chatted about this Goodness I hope not because this would be sooooooooo boring - to repeat said idea -------

1) He is the only angel who has continuously advocated for staying true to their nature

2) His name starts with Casti-, the plural Latin for a festival/period of ceremonial/required abstinence/continence dedicated to a god. God/Castiel could have received "bodily" pleasure from his power, so He is deciding to abstain from using said powers.

His name also ends in "El," one of the Hebrew words for God. By itself, it does not offer any weight but combined with Casti- could mean "abstaining from being God."

3) His name is not in the Bible or other Judeo-Christian writings, so making him God would not go against religious dogma used in writing the show.

He's come back from death, the only angel to ever do that so far. At least for what we've been shown. Also, with the whole becoming human thing, almost feels like a subtle allegory to Jesus. God is missing and has been absent the whole show.

There is so many other little things that could be put together about Cas - like going to Hell for both Sam & Dean, Purgatory (by accident? maybe) to repent his sins.
Leading the angels in S9 against Metatron - the angel war he was so invested in that he didn't always come when the Boys called Just a thought he does seem to go above and beyond his angel duties at times, and his free will - no other angel can think like this they appear so robotic next to Cas Just thinking

Yes, and we will get more of this guy.

Okay so I made a friend at the convention and she had the Jared meet and greet and Jared said they are filming things with lucifer right now, so we have confirmation that Lucifer is in this season!!!

Few things came to mind now when I saw the promo photos.

One, Sam holds on with the torture etc, until Dean and Cas arrive to the cage. He has held on long enough. if all of them get out of the cage and Lucy hitches a ride inside unknowing Cas? That way Lucy would have been freed by accident and they have helped him out involuntarily. As Cas is not human so I am not sure Lucy needs permission to possess him? That is also a way to jump over the loophole that they get Lucy free. Because they wouldn't if they knew.

Two, They fight in the cage and it seems like they are loosing. They need to get out and Cas then talks in angel radio/mind talk to Lucifer and says he can come topside inside him. Cas would not tell the others about it and thinks he can handle Lucy but alas, he is wrong.

To make up for that bad (?) news, how about this teaser: The show’s return this Wednesday features the first scene between all five of its major players — Dean, Sam, Castiel, Crowley and Rowena — and it falls under the category of “strange bedfellows,” says Carver. “Everyone has an axe to grind as we move into the second half [of the season]… Fans should expect shifting allegiances, alliances and some fairly shocking turns right from the jump.”

This was interesting take and foreshadowing. Fans are pretty amazing by kitty.kat2015.

From the moment the cage was revisited, fans have been wondering what happened to Michael and Adam. Is that something that’s going to be addressed or are you more focused on the Sam-Lucifer of it all?
We make mention of it in the coming episode, giving folks a bit of an update on what’s been going on in the cage. It’s not the biggest mention and the focus really is in the Lucifer-Sam part of it but there is some mention of it.

Poor Sam had so much trust that these visions were from God, and now he’s stuck in the cage with the real manipulator. Is this experience going to be the thing that finally causes Sam to lose faith in God?
That’s an excellent question and it’s something definitely that we will continue to have Sam sort of dwell on. I would think if this experience is going to alter Sam in any way, it might move him a little bit more from optimist to realist in the coming weeks. That’s best understood by what unfolds.
