"Bad things are coming, as they always are, for the Winchesters."

If seeing John Winchester again wasn't enough for Supernatural fans, there's going to be a new twist in store for brothers Sam and Dean.

Showrunner Andrew Dabb discussed with IGN what to expect from the rest of the 14th season, and he shared that, although "bad things are coming" (as you would expect), our heroes will continue to grow as characters.

It's just as well that we're definitely getting a season 15!

"I will say, true to Supernatural form, season 14 does not end on an 'everybody is super happy and hugging' note, necessarily," Dabb said. "Bad things are coming, as they always are, for the Winchesters.

"But I do think that, moving into 15... I think that people will be surprised and will be happy in terms of where we're going, not only in terms of the plotline, but also in terms of our guys and their ongoing growth as people."

Dabb also teased that another familiar face will be returning later in season 14.

"In terms of going forward, in episode 20, I will say that we get visited by an old favourite," he said.

Last month, Supernatural was confirmed to be renewed by The CW alongside the likes of Supergirl, Arrow, Riverdale, and The Flash.

Who could that be? Unfortunately, that is all Andrew Dabb told TVLine, so it will have to be enough for now. Since John Winchester already returned this season that pretty much rules him out. How can Supernatural fans narrow it down?

It sounds like Supernatural will be closing out its latest season with the help of a familiar face.

In a recent interview with TV Line, executive producer Andrew Dabb teased that “a very significant fan favorite is going to come back” for the show's Season 14 finale. Unfortunately, the report did not tease which character that could be.

Given the long history that Supernatural has had on The CW, there are certainly a large number of possibilities as to who that character could be. As the show looks forward to its fifteenth season, that acknowledgment of the show's legacy both has and hasn't played a role in things.

"I think you always want your show to grow, and I think a show can grow internally, by putting existing elements in different packaging, but it also grows externally in terms of introducing new characters, new problems, things that nobody saw coming." Dabb told ComicBook.com earlier this year. "Our goal is to do both. Our goal is not to become a show that's massively self-reflective, or rest on our laurels, or make episodes like, 'Do you remember that one time?' and things like that. I think Supernatural's always done a very good job of having a history, but not relying on a history that's only a storytelling device. That's certainly not something we want to move away from at this point."

In recent years, the show has pushed the envelope in a slew of ways, from musical episodes to crossovers with Scooby-Doo.

"It is freeing, and we've certainly taken advantage of that." Dabb told ComicBook.com. "We've done all sorts of crazy stuff, and Scooby-Doo crossovers and all sorts of stuff, and it is freeing, but it's also stressful, because people are so invested in these characters the last thing you wanna do is something to Sam or Dean that's gonna make people fall out of love with them. So these characters are beloved, and that's not necessarily saying we don't put them through the wringer and make them suffer because we do, but at the end of the day we love these characters, too. We want what's best for these characters to the extent that we can give it, and so you never want to take that love the fans have, take that affection the fans have for granted. You wanna acknowledge it, you're appreciative of it, but you understand where it comes from and you take a lot of big swings, but you try not to do things that challenge the characters at their core because that's why people tune in week-to-week."

Shooting the final few days of #Supernatural Season 14 in the dappled light of an old graveyard. This is going to go down as one of the most epic finales of the series.

Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester shot a scene where the pair are driving in the Impala. They pull up to a business that is seemingly in Nebraska based off a prop car in the parking spot there, and walk in dressed like they were pretending to be some type of Detective/Feds.... which is pretty typical for the Winchester boys.

During breaks Jared sometimes would spend the break hanging out at the Impala, while Jensen went and sat in the transportation vehicle that brought them..... which on that point, I was surprised to see their long time driver not around on this day. Did he finally get fired? Or did he just sleep in?

I also ran into the pair at the wrap party on the weekend. For the first time in 3 1/2 years I finally was able to get Jared to sign. Since the purchase of his plane, he has been more than a tad elusive for me. Jensen was less receptive to the idea, but in his defense, it seems he was put in a bad mood by a guest of 1 of the crew members. I saw someone get kicked out of the party, and a crew member apologizing profusely to one of the higher ups about his guests actions, and all we heard when they walk away is "that was the star of the show you pissed off". Since Jared was already gone at that point, pretty safe to assume who he was talking about.

Supernatural wrapped their 14th season of shooting Tuesday night with some interior scenes that I did not go down for. The boys now are off till July.
