Season Four DVD Sales More Than Double Previous High
The DVD sales figures for the week ending 9/6 were released today. Sure, Heroes was number one as expected, but Supernatural The Complete Fourth Season hit amazing new heights to come in at number two. The total number of units sold were a mind boggling 238,081 units for total estimated revenue of $8.7 million. That smashes the previous high the show did in its first week by 126% percent.
Last year, Supernatural season three hit a new series record with 104,979 units and $4.6 million in revenue. By week two only around 160,000 units were sold. Season two only sold around 69,000 units its first week, and season one sold around 101,000 units.
For the first time Supernatural surpassed Smallville in sales for the first week by about 40,000 units. It outsold Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill by 130,000 units. It even outsold Desperate Housewives by 160,000 units! This is why shows like Supernatural exist on tiny networks like The CW. They resell very well.
8.7 million. That pays for making 4 episodes, and that’s only the first week. Congratulations to everyone involved in making season four a memorable one yet again.
Wonderful! Congrats to all involved with SNL!!! It’s about time people started caughting on to how great SNL is! I hope this helps them to decide on doing a season 6.
Yahooo!
*happy dances*
This is fabulous! Season four was so freaking awesome though, I wouldn’t expect any less!
How some of those shows even hit 130 units when this brilliance is available boggles the mind.
