The Winchesters Pilot Preview and Photo Gallery
The premiere is just a little over a week away on October 11th, but a lot of new information is coming out. Here’s what we know about the Pilot episode, without giving away spoilers:
First, the official episode description, courtesy of The CW:
SERIES PREMIERE – Before Sam and Dean, there were their parents, John and Mary. Told from the perspective of narrator Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles), THE WINCHESTERS is the epic, untold love story of how John Winchester (Drake Rodger) met Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly) and put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world. When John returns home from fighting in Vietnam, a mysterious encounter sparks a new mission to trace his father’s past. In his journey, he crosses paths with 19-year-old demon hunter Mary, who is also searching for answers after the disappearance of her own father. Together, the two join forces with young hunter-in-training Latika (Nida Khurshid) and easygoing hunter Carlos (Jonathan “Jojo” Fleites) to uncover the hidden truths about both their families. Their investigation leads them to a rare book emporium, whose owner Ada (Demetria McKinney) takes an interest to the occult and could provide the missing pieces to their puzzle. But secrets run deep for both the Winchesters and Campbells, and despite the best efforts of John’s mother Millie (Bianca Kajlich) to protect her son from pursuing a dangerous life of demon hunting, John and Mary are both determined to work together to uphold their families’ legacies while beginning to form a family of their own. Glen Winter directed the episode written by Robbie Thompson (#101). Original airdate 10/11/2022. Every episode of THE WINCHESTERS is available to stream on The CW App and CWTV.com the day after broadcast for free and without a subscription, log-in or authentication required.
Here is a nice collection of preview photos from the episode:
Entertainment Weekly had a really great fall preview article about The Winchesters. It includes a story from Jensen about the inspiration for the idea and some quotes from Robbie Thompson about how he got involved. It’s a really great backstory!

Here’s a great interview from Craig Byrne at KSiteTV with Drake Rodger, who plays John Winchester. It’s nothing spoilery, just a nice conversation with the actor and how his role compares with the original show.

As for video previews, I posted quite a few in my article, The Winchesters Series Art, Trailers and New York Comic Con. But here’s another one released recently, and it’s a pretty damn good one:
This is a cast featurette released by The CW:
I know we’ve been speculating a lot here since the news of the pilot released. It’s been a big summer of rumors and uncertainty, so let’s keep the judgements out of the comments until you see the Pilot. Feel free to share any articles about the Pilot, just no spoilers! Once the episode airs, then all comments are allowed, even the spoilery ones. I’m just thrilled to see Robbie Thompson get this chance to run a series, so fingers crossed that it will be a success. I’m keeping an open mind!
