“When things don’t go as expected, trust the reroute.” ? Over the last year, @theemilykey and @cristinitadenoriega and I from @thisisforthecurious have been working to create something for you as your little ones. After about 22 drafts, 125648 Google meetings, and one brilliant illustrator @akenady , we created “Lola, My Darling”- a children’s book about a little girl and her Mama, and the emotional experiences and adventures she has while mom is out of town for work. We felt that there was a voice we could add to children’s literature: the perspective of a little girl with an untraditional family dynamic who learns to embrace the emotions that come along with it. Families with unique dynamics require a true “team” to support young ones into becoming themselves. This book celebrates that. We were slated to release it this week. • But. Great inspiration, never comes without the possibility of great interruption. We have decided that now is not the time to release a book about families who travel for work. The world has changed, very quickly, very necessarily, and we are all adjusting to it. We are very grateful to not be on an airplane now or in the near future. • We @thisisforthecurious are passionate about women chasing, achieving, and relishing in all of their dreams and successes- personal and professional, but we believe now is the time to celebrate being at home in order to save lives. We are deeply indebted to those working women on the front line (doctors and nurses) and in essential services (grocers, mail carriers, public transport) who are having to be away from their families to fight this pandemic and support us in helping our families. • This isn’t all sad news though. We have new plans. Plans that will keep us creating content for you and your little ones, AND keep you warm at home. So please stick with us. You haven’t heard the last of Lola.
