Fan Video of the Week: Supernatural Reflections 13.19 “Funeralia”

Funeralia in Medieval Latin means funeral rites so that is where my idea for this article lifts off. I found a quote that mentions funerals and pagans, and a video titled “Heathens”. Rowena is one of the characters in the video so it fits perfectly. All of these things focus more or less on death, which is an easy topic for Supernatural. It has heathens and a whole lot of monsters and people visited by death. Even when I was young, I had already been in many funeral services, and later in life, even more – Sadness and grieving all around me. You never get used to that. 

We have many holidays where we visit the cemetery to pay our respects to the loved ones we have lost. Also, we take care of the flowers there. My parents many times would have taken me with but for a long time when I was young I didn’t want to go. I remember even the thought of doing that made my skin crawl. Graveyards are so silent; you could call them also eerie. In my child’s mind and my imagination I could almost see the ghosts float above the gravestones without legs and looking sad at me. I didn’t want to think about the people that were lost and now would have joined the weepers (i.e. ghosts). The stony fences would block them in, never to leave the place, so they would be trapped, imprisoned there. Death to a little girl can be too serious; a scary thing that you don’t really understand. The second video actually mirrors this little tale. An eerie version of “Don’t Fear The Reaper” plays in the background, with reapers and Death present.
