Anticipating the start of filming, Jason Fischer, Production Coordinator for Supernatural, retweeted his famous production board, which tracks the creative team’s activities:
Jason also confirmed through Twitter that the season will contain 20 episodes.

That is the fewest in the series’ history (with the exception of season 3 which was shortened by the industry-wide writers’ strike). Here is a list of the number of episodes by season, from Wikipedia.
While 20 episodes is fewer than we’re used to, I’ll take it if it means the show will stay on the air longer! How about you?
