Fan Video of the Week: Supernatural Reflections “Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets”
“The truth is, I’m proud of the life I’ve lived so far, and though I’ve made my share of mistakes, I have no regrets.” — Carly Fiorina
If you are a movie and TV show geek like I am, you might see similarities with Supernatural’s “Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets” and Kill Bill 1-2 by Tarantino. In the movies, Beatrix “Black Mamba” Kiddo AKA the Bride tries to leave her old life and marry a man while she is pregnant. She has been a hitwoman in a group that does not like her new thoughts on life that well, especially the leader Bill AKA Snake Charmer. So they attack the church, kill her husband and beat and try to kill her. She wakes up from a coma and finds out that her daughter is also dead. This leads to a path of vengeance where she hunts every one of that group down and kills them in sword fights. The group had other male and female members too, Budd AKA Sidewinder, Elle “California Mountain Snake” Driver, O-Ren “Cottonmouth” Ishii and Vernita “Copperhead” Green.
Elle Driver in the movie actually looks just like Lily in the episode. You can probably see the similarities between the Bride’s and Lily’s story. In Supernatural, the group of angels (angel garrison) lead by Ishim came to Lily’s house where she was living with Akobel and her daughter. Ishim, like Bill in the movie, wanted to keep the woman to himself – if he could not have her nobody could. So jealousy was a factor. The angel group killed Akobel and Ishim killed Lily’s daughter, so she hunted them down. Lily had already killed two members from the group. At the start of the episode, she killed Benjamin after an angel sword fight. Same happened to Mirabel. Ishim had taught Lily all about the angels like Bill taught the Bride to fight. Both women then used that knowledge for their revenge.
This is what the wikipedia had about the films
Kill Bill is an American two-part martial arts film series, and the fourth film overall that was written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. It was originally set to be released as one film, but with a running time of over four hours, it was separated into two films: Kill Bill: Volume 1, released in late 2003, and Kill Bill: Volume 2, released in early 2004. The original four-hour cut, retitled Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, was screened at select cinemas in 2011.
The word I chose for this article is regret. I also had mistake or revenge on my mind as a word but as “regret” was already in the episode title, I thought it fit the best. For the video, I chose a Team Free Will one, with a mood that fits the theme.
One other thing I liked about this episode was that we saw Castiel in a female vessel. The actress did a great job with him.
On a personal note, my husband and I bought the replica of Budd’s sword for my father for his 60th birthday. He loves movies, guns and swords too.

I See Fire by Ed Sheeran
Oh, misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my brothers’ souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin’s sons
If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night
Calling out father oh
Stand by and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Calling out father oh
Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
Oh, should my people fall
Then surely I’ll do the same
Confined in mountain halls
We got too close to the flame
Calling out father oh
Hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
And if the night is burning
I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns
Then my brothers will die
And as the sky is falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow upon the ground
I hear my people screaming out
Now I see fire
Inside the mountains
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
I see fire (oh you know I saw a city burning out) (fire)
And I see fire (feel the heat upon my skin, yeah) (fire)
And I see fire (uh-uh-uh-uh) (fire)
And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side

Quotes:
Ishim: The way you let those simians talk to you… Castiel, when did you get so gooey? You know why we’re meant to stay away from them humans? It’s not because we’re a danger to them. They’re a danger to us. Case in point.
Castiel: Well, my friendship with Sam and Dean has made me stronger.
Sam: So what’s the plan?
Dean: Well, we knock on her door and ask her nicely not kill any more angels.
Sam: And if she says no?
Dean: Then we burn that bridge when we come to it.
Dean: What Ishim said… You’re not weak, Cas. You know that, right?
Sam: I mean, obviously you’ve changed, but, it’s all been for the better, man.
Dean: And you have been with us every step of this long, crazy thrill ride. And no matter how crazy it got, you never backed down.
Sam: And that takes real strength.
