Murky Places and Mystery Spots did not detract from the impressive Supernatural team and Cast in this Golden opener.

WHAT DID I WATCH?

Yesssss. Continuity! We did not miss a beat. The story picked up right where we left off.

Canon continuity was also adhered to and fleshed out.                           

Dean relates his father’s story of how his parents met. Dean tells Mary about the other times he has met her.

Mary stays true to character with her reluctance to hunt. Respecting canon is a huge relief.

There was much to love, and a wee bit NOT SO MUCH!

First, why was I not consulted about Supernatural shifting to Thursdays?

Sigh. Sorry for shouting, y’all.

The Cast was all on point. The dialogue was sparse so the Cast dug deep to make each moment count.

SOLID GOLD PERFORMANCES

Samantha Smith as Mary demonstrated her skills as a hunter,

The disorientation and horror of her predicament, “And then I burned.”

Her reflective, smug, sexy grin:

Her Lady MacBeth moment of guilt and remorse:

Gritty!

Here’s my **(#ing harp!

“Hurt Him!”  Say What, Mom?

That heartrending, lost, little, boy face when his mother hugs him, underlines Amara’s rationale for this gift:

 

Jared Padalecki as Sam

Sam ran the gamut of emotions. Cocky!Sam, Tortured!Sam, Triumphant!Sam, and Hurt!Sam.

While the SamGirls twittered about Wet!Sam;

 

 

But, this sequence was drop jaw awesome:

Initially, Sam scoffs at the cold shower torture. Toni gives him a superior knowing smile.

Then as the cold, numbing impact of the freezing nastiness of this torture sinks in on Sam,

he shoots her a look of sheer hatred.

Now, someone give Sam a warm blanket and a hug!
