Travis Aaron Wade’s was co-producer on the documentary Extinction Soup, which is now available for purchase .
EXTINCTION SOUP follows documentary filmmaker Philip Waller on his quest for adventure as he sets out to tell the story of his larger-than-life friend and extreme sports legend, Jimmy Hall. The film quickly takes a surprise turn when Waller finds himself consumed with exposing to the world an environmental catastrophe in the making – the extinction of the oceans’ shark population through the mass slaughter of these magnificent animals for their fins.
Waller documents the efforts of conservationist Stefanie Brendl as she fights to educate lawmakers and help pass ground-breaking legislation that will curb the consumption of shark fin soup, considered a delicacy in many Eastern cultures, and the impetus behind 70 million sharks being killed per year.

Supernatural (with Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard) and Jared Padalecki (by himself) will be part of Nerd HQ during this year’s San Diego Comic Con. The complete Nerd HQ schedule is here. Thanks to all_Spn for the tip.
We have several reports on last week’s convention in Pittsburgh. From the Pittsburgh Post Gazzette Demons, fans flock to ‘Supernatural’ convention, from CW Pittsburgh The Road So Far: “Supernatural” Convention Comes To Pittsburgh, Delights Fans, from Nerds and Beyond The Cast of Supernatural Visits Pittsburgh!, and finally from Fangasm WaywardAF Friday and Saturday at Pittcon!.
To those who have asked for my account of the convention, I knew that if I were going to write an article I would drive myself crazy worrying that I would miss something to report and I wouldn’t have enjoyed the experience. For a quick roundup, Kim Rhodes and Briana Buckmaster were great substitute hosts for Richard and Rob. They were fun, engaging and bawdy. Gil McKinney and Alaina Huffman were great together. They have become friends and Gil goes to her house to prepare for auditions some time. Gabe Tigerman was endearing. He played minion to Kim and Briana for part of their panel and he was fun during his panel, talking about how he wished Andy had gone out fighting instead of just getting killed. Ruth Connell was a real sweetie. She gave little gifts to anyone who asked her a question. She’s bubbly and fun. Mark Sheppard was great. He gives away no spoilers and apparently is a baby locator, since he found and cuddled one. Matt Cohen is great. He talked about his new role on General Hospital as well as his time on Supernatural. Misha Collins was funny and delightful. He talked about his son, Wes, putting water in his gas tank. He couldn’t have been more entertaining and wonderful.
Rob Benedict and Richard Speight, Jr. finally made it in to Pittsburgh. They had to battle the Pittsburgh BiCentennial Parade to reach the Convention Center, but they did make it. They were every bit as much fun as Kim and Briana and were even more toned down than the ladies. The Saturday night concert was just great! We have some cast members who have great voices and can really sing. We have cast members who… try really hard! Louden Swain is a great group. Jason Manns did a great set. The concert ended with Louden Swain singing Purple Rain.
Of course what you really want to hear about is the Jared and Jensen panel. What can I say, as the time for it got nearer I could feel the excitement building in my stomach. Sadly, it turned out to not be excitement, but food poisoning, and I spent most of the panel throwing up in the bathroom. Oh, Well! You’ll have to go read Alice’s account of the panel, because I got nothing, except that Jared and Jensen looked fabulous and I wish the show would let them keep their hiatus hair and beards, because they did look great, as I ran out the door. LOL!
So convention advise. Do: Prepare to have a great time. Prepare to love all of our cast. Prepare to have a great concert. Don’t: Get food poisoning!
