Fan Video of the Week: Supernatural Reflections 11.21 “All In The Family”
“The king who is situated anywhere immediately on the circumference of the conqueror’s territory is termed the enemy. The king who is likewise situated close to the enemy, but separated from the conqueror only by the enemy, is termed the friend (of the conqueror).” — Kautilya, Arthasastra: Book VI, “The Source of Sovereign States”
Or as we better know: “The enemy of my enemy is my friend” is an ancient proverb which suggests that two opposing parties can or should work together against a common enemy. The earliest known expression of this concept is found in a Sanskrit treatise on statecraft dating to around the 4th century BC, while the first recorded use of the current English version came in 1884. Some suggest that the proverb is of Arabic origin.
This quote fits very well to the episode and it continues to apply as well to the next episode. Metatron is no friend to the Winchesters but Amara is now also his enemy. He will combine his knowledge and forces with the Winchesters. If someone would have said that he would sacrifice himself for humanity, I would not have believed them then. I hardly believed it even when I saw it with my own two eyes.
Sam and Dean didn’t like working with Metatron and they sure did not like combining their forces with Lucifer, who had tortured and threatened to kill them both. It takes everything from Sam to go save Lucifer but he knows he has to do it. He can’t think about anything other than that. Cas already made the choice to have the enemy of their enemy be their friend. Maybe Sam focuses his thoughts on saving Cas and not his arch enemy. It is not easy for them and everybody knows that. They have to do it even if it fails.
Enjoy!

Chuck – Lonely In Heaven (Video/Song Request) made by: Angel Dove
Sometimes on a Sunday by The Glorious Sons
God loves cars, and God loves sex
God loves liquor and cigarettes
He’s a fool for the rush just like the rest of us
Cause God is scared of his own death
And he dabbles in drugs on the weekend
Sometimes on a Sunday
When the choir stops singing, and the kids ain’t watchin’
And the angels need a reason to pray
I bet it gets lonely in heaven
I bet that God gets lost too
I bet it gets lonely in heaven
I bet that God sings the blues
God loves Audrey Hepburn
And he love Marilyn Monroe
For all those scenes in all those movies
That no one really knows
And he seduces himself with his own eyes in the mirror
On the top floor of the Mariott
It’s times like that, God really needs a friend
And sometimes the Devil’s all he’s got
I bet it gets lonely in heaven
I bet that God gets lost too
I bet it gets lonely in heaven
I bet that God sings the blues
Sometimes the Devils all you got (x2)
I bet it gets lonely in heaven
Sometimes the Devils all you got (x3)
I bet it gets lonely in heaven
Sometimes the Devils all you got
I bet it gets lonely in heaven
I bet that God is lost too
I bet it get lonely in heaven
I bet that God sings the blues

Quotes:
Sam: Okay, so um, Chuck. I guess we don’t call you that, huh?
Chuck: I prefer it.
Sam: Okay, uh, Chuck it is. I’m sorry, you’re gonna have to give Dean and me a moment to start to process. We didn’t know you were around. I mean we knew about Chuck, but we just didn’t know about ‘Chuck.’ I-I-I was hoping you were around, I prayed and I don’t know if they got lost in the spam or if-
Dean: Sam.
Sam: Yeah?
Dean: Babbling.
Chuck: You’re frustrated. I get it. Believe me, I was hands-on, real hands-on, for… wow, ages. I was so sure if I kept stepping in, teaching, punishing. These beautiful creatures I created would grow up. But it only stayed the same and I saw that I needed to step away and let my baby find its way. Being overinvolved is no longer parenting. It’s enabling.
Dean: But, It didn’t get better.
Chuck: I’ve been mulling it over and from where I sit, I think it has.
Dean: Well from where I sit, it feels like you left us and you’re trying to to justify.
Chuck: I know you had a complicated upbringing, Dean, but don’t confuse me with your dad.
Chuck: you have to understand this about the Darkness. She’s relentless, a force beyond human comprehension. It’s the only reason I came off the sidelines.
Sam: Must have been great being her brother, huh?
Chuck: It was the worst. Always telling me what to do, making me do what she wanted. I mean, you guys know how that works.
Amara: This place, this world hasn’t been especially easy for you. Why not at least consider my offer.
Dean: This world is flawed, I’ll give you that. But I am not ready to say goodbye to it yet.
Amara: But one way or another you will. It’s inevitable. My brother won’t stop me again, because He can’t. Dean, give up your smallness, your humanity, and become boundless within me.
Minutiae:
Despite this episode occurring right after 11.20 Don’t Call Me Shurley, the news article Sam pulls up on the new rabid infection mentions that the Hope Springs infection was weeks earlier. This might have been to show passage of time between Chuck coming to the Bunker, and the rescue operation for Lucifer/Castiel.
