The CW Announces Series Pickups – What Will It Mean For Supernatural?
The CW made some exciting announcements about series pickups today.
In a long rumored move, Supergirl is moving from CBS to the CW, as per Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline. TV Ratings Guide reports that Supergirl has been picked up for a full 22 episodes. In news that will affect Supernatural, Jeremy Carver’s Frequency has also been picked up along with Riverdale and No Tomorrow . Containment has been cancelled according to The Hollywood Reporter. Variety notes
It remains to be seen what the “Frequency” pickup means for Carver’s showrunning duties on “Supernatural.”
Deadline explained the pickup of Frequency
I hear it came down to the wire for the third slot, with Frequency and Kevin Williamson’s paranormal drama in contention, both from WBTV. Frequency, based on the New Line movie, is more lucrative for the studio as the project, like Riverdale, is based on company-owned IP and will remain solely owned, not become a co-production with CBS TV Studios.
Who do you think will run Supernatural next year? How do you think Carver’s new duties will affect our show?
