Hi Karen, I always enjoy this featured article. I agree with and enjoy most of your pics. Just a few comments. I do not agree with Castiel’s wisdom. I do not think any wisdom was involved. Should have been entitled Fanfic destiel ship moment. Borrowing some words from Wednesday it was just an off color reference for playing doctor, finger in mouth or an anal probe. Personally, I think the writers should stick with subtle subtext. I would have given best nostalgic hero moment to Sam jumping in the pit. Saddest moment was Rowena telling Crowley why she hates him. I felt her pain and could just see her wretchedness as she described her former self. I totally agree with Out of place moment being the Rowena dream. I think it was a “trying too hard hard to be funny moment, which so did not fit in. I know it was tied into Lucifer coming to Rowena in a dream but sorry I cannot see a witch of Rowena’s age and statute dreaming about a modern Christmas. She never experienced it and I would not imagine her even knowing, seeing, watching or hearing about Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer. This was lame. Finally, my favorite line of the entire episode was Dean: ” I’m sorry, have you met me”.

When I chose ‘Castiel Wisdom’ as a category, it was to reflect on Castiel’s childlike innocence to mortal references and social norms. When it comes to Wincest and Destiel, a lot of time I don’t even pick up on those references. I guess because it’s not something I’m interested in and I tend to turn a blind eye to them. In the scene where Castiel is checking out Dean’s symptoms, including wanting to take his temperature, I saw it only as a socially awkward Angle wanting to help his friend. To me it was cute moment. I just felt I needed to explain why I chose that moment and hope you understand where I’m coming from. Cheers! 🙂

Loved the pictures and your picks, Karen. I am not always that observant about the visuals in an ep, but this ep seemed particularly beautiful to me in many ways, and you captured that wonderfully with the pictures you chose. My favorite new category is best phone messages. Both of the messages in this ep cracked me up. I love how the writers mine humor even from brief throwaway moments like the phone messages. I laugh every time I see 666 on caller ID.
