Fan Video of the Week: Supernatural Reflections “Hibbing 911”
“Being an intellectual creates a lot of questions and no answers. You can fill your life up with ideas and still go home lonely. All you really have that really matters are feelings. That’s what music is to me.” – Janis Joplin
Jody and Donna were back for this week’s episode so, like last week, I could focus on the prettier gender once more. These two are more than pretty, though. They are strong, witty and wise and they work well together. Because of this episode and the characters Alex and Claire, people started to talk about a spin-off that would have the two sheriffs and the girls. They call it “The Wayward Daughters”.
Just imagine: Jody Mills and Donna Hanscum (who we loved as a team in “Hibbing 911”), opening up a home for girls a la Sonny’s Home for Boys, taking in troubled girls, both human and supernatural creature alike. When we realized that Kim Rhodes and Briana Buckmaster were just as excited as we were, it sparked a firestorm.
They have even made a petition for it that you can find here:
The ideas for this article partially came from that drive, but also from the video like this week’s that I’ve also seen many times before. It is just that good and fits the theme of the week. In Supernatural we have had many good characters, both male and female, so tributes for them are always fitting. Many of them I include as my favorites. Those that aren’t my favorites are just as much part of the Supernatural story as the ones I really like.
I should say this more often but every day I am amazed by the talent in the Supernatural fandom. Be it fan videos, fan art, fan fiction or anything else creative they can cook up. There is a whole other world full of these fans and it makes the surrounding ring around Supernatural that much richer. That makes me also glad that I can find and research a lot of different sides of the fandom because, like Supernatural, it is also very versatile.
Titanium (feat. Sia) by David Guetta
[Sia:]
You shout it out,
But I can’t hear a word you say
I’m talking loud, not saying much
I’m criticized but all your bullets ricochet
You shoot me down, but I get up
[Chorus – Sia:]
I’m bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down but I won’t fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won’t fall
I am titanium
[Sia:]
Cut me down
But it’s you who’ll have further to fall
Ghost town and haunted love
Raise your voice, sticks and stones may break my bones
I’m talking loud not saying much
[Chorus – Sia:]
I’m bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down but I won’t fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won’t fall
I am titanium
I am titanium
I am titanium
[Bridge – Sia:]
Stone-heart, machine gun
Firing at the ones who run
Stone heart loves bulletproof glass
You shoot me down but I won’t fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won’t fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won’t fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won’t fall
I am titanium
I am titanium

Donna: What the cuss!? A vampire?

Here are few more videos about Wayward Daughters.
I really love the musical beat on this one and how it was edited. Song: “Heaven Knows” by The Pretty Reckless. It actually made me more interested in the idea of this spin-off. Second video has “Carry On Wayward Son” so I probably don’t need to say anything more about it.

If you like you can answer this little quiz. How many characters do you recognize from the main picture?
Hi Lilah. Thanks for the article. As I watched the videos, which were all good, I am reminded just how many great women characters have been in SPN through the years. I hope Amara follows in that tradition of tough smart females. The hot-chick aspect won’t bother me nearly so much if this character is multi dimensional and kick-ass. Whether she is a good or bad character. The idea of a spin off with Jody and company interests me way more that Bloodlines did (understatement). Of course ANY spin off would have to be executed well, no matter who is in it!
Thanks for commenting!
Aye, and even after making this article I remembered lot more women like Dorothy that could have been in the collation and there is many many more. Most of the characters have been so deep that if they die we are sad, angry and we will miss them. That is not a bad thing.

Yes! These are beautiful. And I hope so much that Wayward Daughters happens. It would be a great way to honor Charlie’s memory, or even perhaps create a situation where she could be brought back?
Glad you liked the videos!
And you’ll never know if the spin-off kicks in. We haven’t gotten anything clear after “the episode that shall not be named”. So we will see. 🙂

Hi Lilah. Your list is pretty comprehensive but it got me to thinking about other great female characters. Two who came to mind were from Season 1: the girl from Bloody Mary (whose name I forget) and the girl from Asylum (whose name I also forget!). The Asylum girl had a pretty small role but I loved how she took charge with the shotgun and then gave her boyfriend the heave ho at the end of the episode. I love that the writers usually make the effort to flesh out even the smaller guest roles.
Thanks for reading. I think you meant these? 🙂

Those are the ones! Thanks.
Great videos, but the first song is actually “Heaven Knows” by The Pretty Reckless.
Saw what you meant. Should be fine now. 🙂

Thanks for providing link to petition of [b]Wayward Daughters[/b].
(More signatures are still needed.)
Sadly, you missed my favorite female who has been there since the beginning….BABY.
🙁
Thanks!
You are quite correct! Of course I need to fix this very bad mistake immediately.
