SPECIAL SNEAK PEEK PILOT SCREENINGS
WEDNESDAY, JULY 8
6:00–10:00 p.m. The first time is always the best time. Comic-Con and Warner Bros. Television proudly continue our annual Preview Night tradition, with exclusive world premiere screenings of the pilot episodes of four of the most highly anticipated series of the 2015–16 television season — Supergirl, Blindspot, Containment and Lucifer — as well as a brand-new episode of Teen Titans Go!. Ballroom 20
- Supergirl: In the vast DC Comics Universe of super heroes, the rich mythology of Superman and the planet Krypton is perhaps the most famous and instantly recognizable. Enter Supergirl! Born on the doomed planet Krypton, the preteen Kara escaped at the same time as the infant Kal-El, but didn’t arrive on Earth until many years later after being lost in the Phantom Zone. Now age 24, living in National City and working as an assistant for Catco Worldwide Media mogul Cat Grant, Kara has spent so many years trying to fit in that she forgot to ever stand out. All that changes when she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero she was always destined to be. With the help of Daily Planet photographer James Olsen, her foster sister Alex, and the research of the super-secret, off-the-grid Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO) and its head, Hank Henshaw, who are tasked with keeping the Earth safe from aliens, Kara takes to the skies to protect her world.
- Blindspot: Sullivan Stapleton (300: Rise of an Empire) and Jaimie Alexander (Thor films) star in Blindspot, a one-hour action thriller from Berlanti Productions (The Flash, Arrow, Pan) and writer/executive producer Martin Gero (Stargate: Atlantis). Stapleton stars as hardened FBI agent Kurt Weller, who is drawn into a complex conspiracy when a naked amnesiac, Jane Doe (Alexander), is found in Times Square covered in a series of cryptic tattoos … including his name on her back. As Weller and his teammates at the FBI begin to investigate the veritable treasure map that is Jane Doe’s tattoos, they are drawn into a high-stakes underworld that twists and turns through a labyrinth of secrets and revelations — and the information they uncover might ultimately change the world.
- Containment: When a mysterious and deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, a vast urban quarantine is quickly enforced, forcing those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives while local and federal officials desperately search for a cure in Containment. Torn apart from their loved ones, the survivors trapped within the cordon are fighting against not only fatal infection, but also isolation, fear and the disintegration of society around them. But as they begin to gain each other’s trust, hope remains, and on either side of the cordon unlikely heroes will rise.
- Lucifer: The story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar has resigned his throne and retired to the City of Angels, where he owns an upscale piano bar called Lux. When a beautiful pop star is murdered, he feels something awaken deep within him for the first time in roughly 10 billion years. Is he actually capable of feelings for a human being? The very thought disturbs him. The murder attracts the attention of LAPD homicide detective Chloe Dancer, who finds herself both repulsed and fascinated by Lucifer. At the same time, God’s emissary, the angel Amenadiel, has been sent to Los Angeles to convince Lucifer to return to Hell. But with the City of Angels at his feet and a newfound purpose, Lucifer’s having too much fun to go back now.
- Teen Titans Go!: The Teen Titans are back at it again, in Teen Titans Go!, with all-new comedic adventures both in and out of Titans Tower. We’ll have you covered by screening a brand-new episode.

I wish SPN would come to NY Comic Con. Sigh.
You know there is an SPN con in New Jersey right? Secaucus NJ (”http://www.creationent.com/calendar.htm”)
mind you the better seating looks pretty much gone 😀
Yeah, I know about NJ. In fact when my daughter first got me into SPN she was lobbying hard to go to the NJ Con. But the only way it would be remotely affordable for us is to get the cheapest tickets and no frills- no M&Gs, no photo ops, etc. So it seems like it wouldn’t be worth it to possibly sit way in the back where you couldn’t even see much and know that you’re missing out on all of the fun stuff. Maybe I’m wrong about that, I guess I’d have to hear differently from someone who did a Con completely on the cheap. At least Comic Con is a bit cheaper (I think) and you get to see a lot of other things as well. One of my son’s friends went to NY Comic Con 2 years ago and he ended up through a stroke of luck meeting and talking to all of the Walking Dead stars who were there. So my little fantasy is SPN coming to NY and we fortuitously run into the Js and have a nice long conversation with them, which maybe turns into them going out to lunch with us. And right after that I buy the winning lotto ticket and magically start looking 20 years younger. :):)
I like your plan. I don’t see any flaws in it at all.
i bit the bullet this year and got a Copper ticket to NJ Con – had always wanted to go to one to see what it’s all about. The Copper seating is behind Gold/Silver but at least I got an aisle seat, and will have the same seat for all 3 days.
On the other hand, I like your lottery plan – sounds remarkably similar to my retirement planning :):)
OK njspnfan, I’m going to be nosy and ask what that copper ticket cost and does it include anything besides the panels? Are you going to do any of the other activities? I’m going to be really curious to hear how you liked it so I hope you’ll give a full report! It’s probably good that you’re going now because I assume that once the show ends, so will the cons, so I don’t know how many more NJ Cons there will be. I’m a wee bit jealous. If I ever do win lotto, I’m going to a Con gold class all the way!
You’re not being nosy at all. The cost was $280 – here’s what it includes (this is directly from the Creation Entertainment web site)
We have added a new category of tickets called COPPER WEEKEND PACKAGES. These new packages consist of the following super-cool benefits:
1) Excellent guaranteed reserved seating in the theatre where you will see all the guest stars on stage and enjoy the wonderful host/MC Richard Spieght, Jr. and his sidekick Rob Benedict and house band Louden Swain plus all the great performers appearing live mentioned elsewhere on the site!
2) You can pick your actual seat off the seating chart and this will be yours for the entire convention unless noted.
3) Complimentary admission to our “SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL” CONCERT starring LOUDEN SWAIN featuring lead singer Supernatural’s own ROB BENEDICT and special SUPERNATURAL celebrity guest stars performing: MARK SHEPPARD, MATT COHEN, RICHARD SPEIGHT, JR., TAHMOH PENIKETT, TRAVIS AARON WADE, OSRIC CHAU and others to be announced. You keep you same great Copper located seats you have for the day for this event as well! Performers are tentative and subject to change. THESE EVENTS ARE THE TALK OF FANDOM BECAUSE THEY ARE LITERALLY THE BEST SHOW EVER DONE AT A FAN CONVENTION and our brand new state of the art concert sound system takes this to an all new level!
4) Collectible laminate signifying your Copper Status at the convention
5) Pre-Registration on the night prior to the convention and on the first day so you can get your credentials earlier than others and also get one of the first cracks at the souvenirs (after Gold and Silver)
6) Admission to the vendors area of course
7) Admission to our famous Karaoke Kings Concert Party Night event! If you haven’t attended one of these get ready to LAUGH, SING AND ENJOY! Truly a night to remember, starring The Karaoke Kings Richard Speight, Jr. and Matt Cohen plus special guests, usually those appearing Friday, but not always! Please note that front chairs are removed for this event, so it is not a seated affair which means that we do not have reserved seating for this. Note the theme for the 2015 events has been announced above
Please note that COPPER WEEKEND packages DO NOT INCLUDE any AUTOGRAPH or PHOTO OPS, those must be ordered separately if desired.
One last question- how far back are your seats? Actually two last questions- are you going to try to ask one of the Js a question?
19th row (of 29) and I’ll just be observing and taking everything in for my first con.
Some interesting numbers on the $$$ – this doesn’t include GA, Preferred Admission, or First Row Gold Seats –
Gold 444 seats x $749 = $332,556
Silver 37 seats x $599 = $22,163
Copper 502 seats x $280 = $140,560
Total = $495,279
It’s funny you mention the money because I always wondered how much they pay the actors to appear. It has to be enough to make it worth the travel and being away from home/family. And they have to pay the actors’ travel expenses. But at the prices you listed it seems like Creation must be making a pretty good profit!
Apparently it is the photos that make the profit. I heard that somewhere I don’t have any reference for it though. I imagine a fair whack of the money might go to the tv company for use of their franchise? However I don’t think that the CW makes them do these conventions, it is a second income (or possibly primary income for some 🙂 ) for the actors.
Alice! I bet you know all these answers!
It boggles my mind that there are so many people, Con after Con, who can pay $750 for gold tickets. I had no idea they were so expensive. Although I guess maybe it’s worth the splurge it to be so close to the Js because the videos sure make their panels seem amazing. Sadly, I will never find out.:(:(:(
I heard through the grapevine that the J’s can get paid upwards of $40,000 for their participation at a con with a portion of the autographs and photo ops added on. Well worth their time and a nice secondary income. FYI…in 2014 Jared attended 11 cons and Jensen 10. That’s a serious chunk of change and a huge amount of time invested. No wonder the boys looks so wiped out at the end of the season. It also occurred to me that Jared in particular had several terrible things happen to him (and his family) over the past two summer hiatuses. In 2013 he had to leave JIB Con because of Gen’s sister’s car accident. She was very badly injured and for a time the doctors were not sure she would survive. Jared and Gen spent the whole summer hiatus in the hospital and I am sure that it put a terrible strain on them. Then in 2014 Jared broke his shoulder (also at JIB Con). He spent THAT summer enduring surgery, therapy and considering how much pain he still seemed to be in when he began filming again in July I am guessing that THAT summer hiatus was not much fun either. That means that this summer was the first in which he’s had any real time off in three years. No wonder he was so tired and so beat down. Glad he’s doing so much better now.
That number is actually $120,000+ per con for the J’s. $40,000 is for secondary people, I think Misha and Mark get around $70,000. Then they also get at least half of the photo ops. I think autographs are included in the appearance. With all these cons, the money rivals what they get on the show!
Wow, it’s no wonder they maintain the hectic schedule of getting all of those Cons in. Not that they don’t deserve it, but that’s way more than I thought they got paid. I guess it makes sense that they want to do as many as they can now while the show is still on. Who knows if the Cons will continue once the show goes off the air. And I guess that explains why the Cons are so expensive.
WOW…….that’s a lot of money. But hey, LeBron James made 19.1 million last year so I’m not going to begrudge the boys their earnings. I can certainly see though why they attend so many cons, it’s certainly worth their while.
I am seeing on Twitter grumblings about the costs of the cons increasing, particularly this year. You have to wonder if Creation will end up pricing themselves out of the market.
Oh my god that number is insane! No wonder they try to go to all these cons! In my money its £77k I think.
If people like Osric can make $40,000 per Con, that’s a pretty nice living for working 12 weekends a year. I’d like a job like that!
Wow all these happening during Jibcon o-o
Yeah… I wonder if Jared is starting to feel like JIB Con is cursed for him. :p
I kinda wouldn’t be surprised if Jared stopped with JibCon altogether. It is too much exactly at the wrong time if he is to get a chance to take a breather between seasons. Though of course he is signed up for next year and the cons sell out pretty quick so he probably wouldn’t bail on next years, and maybe after that they would all have more time to do conventions wherever 😀
I have to say for me it has seemed to get less entertaining (generally) and more odd over the past few years. I feel that the organizers pull tricks on the guests which seem to make some of them uncomfortable. It is hard to define any more clearly but I hope they get WELL paid for the con. I know 3 years ago I would have been really enthusiastic to go to it if I had had the money, but now I (personally) wouldn’t. Not that it was ever going to happen …
I don’t know if he would stop going altogether. You’re right about it’s placement on the calendar…it’s really right on top of the end of the season. Still though both of the J’s have commented that they actually like JIB Con the best of all the cons. It’s run by Rogue instead of Creation, and they seem to be a much more down to earth organization. Creation seems to be very much into “dazzle!” “flash!” and other kinds of showy things that I have no interest in. They also seem to be pretty greedy. Cons aren’t really my thing I guess. To me they seem loud, hectic places. I live in NYC, if I want loud and hectic I only have to go outside. Things like karaoke and costume parades and cos play are just not my thing and I have zero interest. I also don’t like overly loud music so all the concerts don’t really interest me that much either (I’m an opera girl…..give me an orchestra and bunch of REALLY good singers anyway). I also don’t have much interest in being in a room with 1,000 people screaming for an hour. I’d be mortified getting a picture with them and I’m not much into memorabilia or autographs. The only thing I think I’d like is the small, quiet, intimate meet and greets and those are pretty much the most expensive thing out there. It’s not likely that I’ll ever go. Still I live in NYC and both boys go there fairly regularly. I have this hope that I’ll run in to Jared on the street somewhere. If it ever happened I probably wouldn’t have to courage to say anything to him; I think I’d just stand there, slack jawed and staring.
Rogue actually doesn’t run JibCon – Rogue is Asylum. JibCon is an independent event which makes it extremely impressive, but it does mean that they have more opportunity to change the rules if they want.
If it ever happened I probably wouldn’t have to courage to say anything to him; I think I’d just stand there, slack jawed and staring.
I wonder what it must be like to be on the receiving end of that reaction on a regular basis 😀 Mind you I don’t think you would actually be like that when it came down to it. Also you live in NYC don’t you get to meet famous people, like, every 5 minutes or so?
I will definitely have to go to one con just to see what the vibe is like.
There is someone who used post on here a lot (Yirabah) who has a great story about being at a con in Barcelona and being out around the town when this huge guy nearly knocked her down stepping backwards to get a photo – his tiny little brunette wife stopped him at the last moment and he was extremely apologetic apparently. (I guarantee you I got many of the details of that story wrong – but the basis of it is true) She got to talk with them for a while and they were extremely nice … 😀
So, to all you optimistic people, it does happen!
I have seen a few famous people, but I almost never go up to them or say anything. Except opera singers…. and since they aren’t main stream famous they LOVE getting recognized. I’ve met Thomas Hampson, Placido Domingo, Hye Kyung Hong, Deborah Voight, Peter Seifert and saw Samuel Ramey glide into the Met greenroom with a stunning blond on his arm. Unless you are an opera fan though, the only name you might recognize is Placido Domingo….he’s pretty much an operatic legend. When he walked into the room, I just about fell over… I was pretty much stunned mute and stood there gaping like an idiot. Then I think I managed to mumble out a “very happy to meet you.”
Way cheaper than our UK SPN con…
Hi samandean10. I join you in your fantasy… win lottery look younger!:) :D. I have thought about going to a con too. The money, other commitments made it seem extravagant. Well this year I went on Creation Entertainment website to see what was offered. And you are right it is expensive. I thought about what I wanted from the Con and narrowed it down. I appreciate art in many forms and sometimes “something” really causes a change, influence, emotional/ psychological response. For me that came from the life work of David Bowie and Alice Munro (short story fiction writer- Pulitzer Prize winner). I realized Supernatural did the same thing for me. So the fact that it is the 11th Season coupled with the fact that the cons provide a real opportunity to actually meet the artist, I went ahead and planned the adventure. I selectively chose a one day pass and a photo/ autograph op. It may only be one day but I think it will be an opportunity to share in a real cool experience and say thanks!
Hi spnlit. Which Con are you going to? And do I correctly assume that your one day pass is for the Js panel? You must be pretty excited that you’re going to get to see what all the fuss is about. Lucky you! I do understand what you’re saying about why certain opportunities are worth the cost. There are many TV shows and movies that I have loved, but I would never even consider paying to go see/meet the actors in person. It just doesn’t seem like a big deal. But SPN and those Js have such a hold on me that I really wish a Con was in the cards. I hope you’ll fill us in on all of the details, so I can vicariously experience it through you and njspnfan!
Although the NJ con was one state over, I am making the trip to Nashville TN. The resort looks lovely and the mountains down there are spectacular. You are correct in the assumption, the J2 panel. Keeping my fingers crossed that there are no unexpected cancellations because the ticket for the con is not refundable. For that panel I will be in the back of a crowded room but I expect the energy level will be HIGH! Yes I am excited and it has given me something to look forward to as I will be going in February which is mid 11th season. Yes Supernatural/ J2 did capture our minds and hearts!
Just give me another SPN anime PLEASE…. ;____;
There’s ‘Ask Sam Stuff (”http://asksamstuff.tumblr.com/tagged/asksamstuff/chrono”)’ (which is adorable) and Petite Madame’s Man of Letters (”http://journal-of-a-man-of-letters.tumblr.com/post/79077860135/journal-of-a-man-of-letters-list-of-journal”) – both started as a response to a lack of Sam POV (as far as I recall) but Dean sympathetic. PM is just a fantastic ‘real’ type artist.
They are comic-book format so not Anime and not even Manga … but maybe better than nothing.
Ask (wee) Sam Stuff is an entire story and actually manages at the end to be scarier than the show ever is nowadays.
I bought a little book version of Ask Sam Stuff but PM’s stuff isn’t commercialized at all.
