Misha Collins Wins For Supernatural at People’s Choice Awards 2015
Congratulations Misha Collins, now a People’s Choice Award Winner!
The category of Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor was a strange one this year, pitting 3 “Supernatural” actors with 2 “Vampire Diaries” ones, but Misha Collins ended up emerging as the victor! Score one (and rightfully so) for his very enthusiastic fan base! We’re glad to see Supernatural finally take this category.
Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor
Ian Somerhalder
Jared Padalecki
Jensen Ackles
Misha Collins
Paul Wesley
Unfortunately, it was the only category Supernatural took this year, losing Favorite TV Sci-Fi show to Beauty and the Beast and Favorite TV Duo to The Vampire Diaries. The results can be found here!

Good for Misha! I’m happy for him.:)
Go Misha!!! Good to see him get recognition! Wish he had a better storyline this year. Here’s hoping it picks up stronger in the 2nd half. I’d like to see some BAMF Cas back myself. I miss the older version… Let the teasing of Jared and Jensen begin….
I’M sorry for supernatural fans !!! he didn’t deserved that (Edited by Alice, no insults of actors allowed) i have no idea why Jensen is not the winner
I think that saying mc didn’t deserve to win is in poor taste.when pple have voted for mc we have always supported when jensen wins as well u sd realise that
If people wanted jensen to win so badly then perhaps they wd have voted just like pple not only wrote in misha into the ballot but made sure he won the pca
Glad to hear some happy news for a change. Congratulations for Misha. 🙂

Congratulations to Misha and his minions, but I can’t keep it to myself to say that I’m sorry but this whole award thing was NOT fair for supernatural! First of all I’m wondering why we lost to beauty and the beast for the second time?it is really strange! And sth more strange:who is really a better TV duo than J2?they are literally brothers!oh,and about the best actor,we all know how much effort Jensen put to his brilliant performance last season and he nailed every scene to show a very dark Dean and his performance was Emmy’s worthy,so I just don’t get why he did not win this award….by the way at least we won one award but we deserved more,I’m not trying to judge or sth,but Jensen absolutely deserved more…
My jaw dropped when I read that Misha won Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor. I don’t think that Misha is truly more popular than the two leads of Supernatural or The Vampire Diaries. I think that Jared and Jensen have more general fans than Misha. Otherwise Misha would already have his own spinoff show or he would have starred in movies. However, the result was anticipated because Minions are on a whole different level of superfan.
I’m surprised that Jensen and Jared did not win Favorite TV Duo. Wasn’t the plan supposed to be that Misha wins the solo award and J2 the duo? I knew that was flawed from the jump. 😀
Whether u like it or not pple voted for mc so he won.trying to justify why he won is not fair at all.pple voted for him like I did so if pple wanted j2 to win then pple sd have voted for them
It might not be the results everyone wanted but it’s good publicity for the show. I think Misha has done a great job giving us the character Cas – I can’t hold bad writing against him and I feel like that’s pretty much all he’s been given for some time. Watching Season 4 and 5 recently – really makes me wish for the old Cas.
I don’t agree that it’s good publicity for the show. The category was not even televised. Are Minions going to use this award to push for even more Castiel on the show now? Then demands for Dean/Cas would not be far behind.
I am shocked, frankly, at the sour grapes here. It was voted on by the fans. Misha’s fans rallied and got him the award. He is as much of an actor as anyone on the show. Too bad the SPN “family” can’t be gracious about this.
Favorite Network Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show: Beauty and the Beast
Fans of Beauty and the Beast are like Misha’s minions. The show is on the verge of being cancelled which always makes fans rally for their show. I remember it was like that when Supernatural was in danger of not being renewed for another season. And Beauty and the Beast is a younger show. Maybe Supernatural is established enough now so fans don’t have the same drive to vote like back in the day when fans got Jared and Jensen on the cover of TV Guide etc.
Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress: Kristin Kreuk
That is another indication that People’s Choice Awards aren’t all that valid since Beauty and the Beast has really bad ratings.
Favorite TV Duo: Nina Dobrev & Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries)
It’s all about shipping so J2 did not win?
Favorite Cable TV Drama: Pretty Little Liars
No wonder that show won Twitter the night an episode directed by Misha aired.
Favorite New TV Drama: The Flash
Favorite New TV Comedy: Jane the Virgin
Airing on the CW does not automatically mean that the categories won’t be televised… But maybe the CW had to choose what shows they wanted to promote?
Misha would have wanted to accept the award on stage. I wonder whether the award for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor would have been handed at the ceremony if someone else had won.
It’s good that Jensen-girls can’t try to bitch at Jared’s fans anymore for Jensen not winning. It wasn’t logical in the first place. If Jensen doesn’t have enough fans on his own then he shouldn’t win.
Good for Misha that he gets something concrete for himself because Jensen and Jared will always get credit for Supernatural’s longevity. The award might mean more to Misha than it would have to Jared and Jensen. Misha is not as known as the other actors.
Even though winning at the People’s Choice Awards doesn’t matter all that much because of the categories and the unlimited voting, I do feel a bit bad for Jensen and Jared that they were left out. They are the show after all. I think that Misha’s win is more for him and the minions and not really about Supernatural.
why make this such a big deal – you can say everything else u like abt misha but the fact is very simple – misha has fans just like jared and jensen – so do all the other shows and the other pple/When pple are interested and determined like lots of misha fans are they made sure they voted as much as possible and in the end he won. Making excuses for why jensen didnt win or why j2 didnt win the best tv duo is not misha’s fault and yes it is a big deal because it shows once and for all that misha is impt to the show as well. spn won the pca for misha not for anything else
Congratulations to Misha, and to Misha’s Minions for getting him this win. However, I voted for Jensen. Don’t hold that against me, as I wanted (and felt) that Jensen deserved a win. While I am glad for those that voted for Misha were rewarded with this win, I also can’t help but feel saddened and a little disappointed that we, as fandom, can somewhat unite and vote Misha this win, but yet, we can’t seem to put aside our favorites and get Jensen and Jared a win. Last year, it was proposed by Cliff, as I am sure with the approval of Jensen and Jared, that they would do a coin toss, and whoever won, we, the fandom, would come together and vote for that person to win the PCA solo award. Well, the coin toss ended up with Jensen, so it was proposed that we all unite and vote for Jensen so he can win and then the following year, which would have been this year, we would vote for Jared to win. That idea went to hell in a hand basket fairly quickly, as I saw myriads of comments of Jared fans stating that they will not vote for Jensen, they would only vote for Jared, and thus, neither of them won. Being a Jensen/Dean girl, if Jared had won that coin toss, I would have gladly voted for Jared, with the hope that if he won, then we would all come together and vote Jensen a win the following year. I was disheartened with what I saw, but, everyone is a free agent and they are allowed to vote for whomever they wish. It’s just, this fandom proclaims we are a family and we should vote together, and yet, when it came down to this, it was one for one, not one for all. After 10 years of devoted service, I would have hoped we could do this for our boys. So, when Misha comes in and luckily gets on the ballot, he self-promotes himself and fans follow and he wins. Misha is a wonderful actor and I don’t negate this win, but it is my personal opinion (don’t castrate me here fandom) that Misha, being a supporting actor, should not have even been on this ballot. It just goes to show the power of his fan base. I have read comments from others saying well, the show won, can’t you just be happy about that. Well, I can be glad, but yet, I still have that feeling of disappointment that we, as a fandom, just can’t seem to get our act together, put aside our favorites, and vote a win for Jensen and Jared. After all, Jensen and Jared have put their heart and souls into these roles, for 10 years, for 200+ episodes, and we just can’t seem to do this for them. (But we can for Misha?) I’m glad for the win, disappointed that we can’t do it for our two leads, who are more than deserving.
why shouldnt misha be on the ballot – he has every write to be there especially since he was in being written which makes his long shot win even sweeter than usual. He has contributed to spn as well granted 0 and self promoted really – misha didnt ask for anyone to promote him fans wanted him to be put on the ballot and made sure of that luck was with us and i am very happy and pleased that misha won regardless – if jared or jensen fans dont like it then that is too bad. he has earned every right to be on the ballot regardless
Well, Norah, you have your opinion and I have my opinion. We are both entitled to our own differing opinions. Please don’t shame me with my opinion and feelings and I won’t shame you with yours. Once Misha was on the ballot, I didn’t think he was a long shot at all, he is a third party and is not pitted against anyone like Jensen and Jared are and Paul and Ian are. Misha may not have self-promoted himself to get on the ballot, but he definitely self-promoted himself for fans to vote for him. I am glad that you are happy that Misha won. I’m not necessarily disappointed that he won, but I am disappointed that it seems fandom can pull together to get him a win, but yet we can’t pull together to get Jensen or Jared a win, or even pull together to get J2 to win best duo or SPN best show.

Misha is a series regular and has been for many years now. He has contributed to the show just about as much as Jared and Jensen have and in the last few years has taken on more of a role in order to afford the J’s some much deserved time off. Everyone has their preferences but Misha’s fans rallied and voted their fingers off. He deserves this and so do his fans. The least we can do is be gracious in congratulating him for his win. In the mean time SPN fans couldn’t defeat the Beasties for a second year in a row?!! Let’s remedy that.
3 of the BATB fans tallied up their votes in it equaled up to 753,200 votes. They vote in large numbers, not to mention they are trying to make it another year. So yep they have more passion in as of now fans still watch SPN, but they’re not so die hard in it like they use too.
Considering my feelings towards the show I would feel a hypocrite if I voted for anything SPN related this year as much has I love Jared.
The way this category was setup, Misha was the obvious winner. He was the neutral actor so to speak. Paul cancelled out Ian among the Vampire Diaries two leads, Jared cancelled out Jensen among the SPN leads. That left the one lone actor’s fanbase to run with it and yes, Misha has a ton of followers. More than I’m sure most of you realize. I’m extremely happy that Misha’s Minions got this opportunity and I’m extremely happy for Misha as well.
The fact is all these actors deserved this award, including Misha. They all do amazing work. Whenever actors from the same show get pitted against one another, mayhem ensues. It’s very unfair that the People’s Choice Awards allows it, but hey it gets fans voting, which is the goal. I can tell you organized campaigns in a splintered fandom do not work, no matter how well intentioned. The coin toss idea last year was a super dumb one. You don’t force fans to choose one actor over another for the sake of a People’s Choice Award. That’s desperate. I’m glad they didn’t try something like that this year.
If anything, I’m disappointed Jared and Jensen didn’t win best duo. That award is far more fitting of the J2s dynamic. That hurts way more than ONE of them not taking best actor. I wonder if this whole Jensen vs. Jared splinter in the fandom is worse than ever. It was probably easier to vote for Damon/Elena since it was a ship.
I’m not at all disappointed with best show. SPN has won before and it’s obvious the Beasties need all the publicity they can get to keep their show alive. However, I have no right to comment or complain about any category, because I didn’t vote in the People’s Choice Awards this year. This all happened during a strange time in my life this year where I couldn’t put in the effort.
Congratulations to misha for winning a P.C.A. That being said, misha is a good actor and he was rewarded for it. I am personally glad he did win. First let me say that Jared and Jensen are both Emmy deserving actors whose talent is endless and I look forward to the day they get their own little dust collector to put on their shelf. 😀 Both boys have earned an Emmy in my heart that’s for damn sure. But I didnt and don’t like it when they are pitted together against each other in the same category, especially they are equally deserving of a win. Not because they would ever one up each other, but because the fandom would. There is enough animosity among the fandom as it is and either boy winning would double it. So not I am glad mishap won because he earned it, but because it keeps the peace.:)
With that I would just like to note that Jared and Jensen don’t need a piece of glass to recognize the love we the fandom have for them. We have shown them our love by giving them our unending support for the last ten going on umpteen years. We show them our love by going to cons, giving them gifts, writing letters and articles, buying paraphranalia…..we voice and show our love daily for Jared and Jensen and they know it and have thanked us for it…endlessly grateful and showing us the fans their appreciation in return…;)
Dean said it best…..I don’t need a trinket to remind me of how I feel about my brother. Well I believe Jared and Jensen know they don’t need a piece of glass to remind them how much we love them.;)
Jmo of course;)
Damn iPad and auto spell check. What I originally said was not only am I glad he won because he earned it, but because it keeps the peace.
I agree Alice on biggest bummer being boys not winning for duo…..shippers are many…apparently lots of romantics out there:D.
Umm, Anna… You wrote also Misha Mishap… I just couldn’t help but rofl on that one. 😉
Just a cutesy mistake but on good spot.

I didn’t vote much this year — a few votes for Jensen, but knowing that the Sam and Dean fans always cancel each other out, there really is no point in spending time voting. I deliberately did not vote at all for SPN, as a protest against Carver and the writers, their fetish for soap themes and because the J2s have lost their show this season. Supernatural did not win, Misha and his minions won a popularity contest. That was their goal, and I congratulate them for their dedication to the actor.
If J2 had won the duo award, would it have truly mattered? Not really. It wouldn’t have impacted the show and I don’t think the CW would have sent the actors to the ceremony. But it would have been nice if Jensen and Jared had gotten recognition. Even winning in other categories might not have mattered much professionally and maybe not even on a personal level to the Js. But it would have been nice to get a picture or a video of Jensen and/or Jared with an award.
Misha has a lot of fans but I don’t think his compares with Jared and Jensen’s. It’s just that Misha’s fans will vote and vote. They are very vocal in general (campaigns, Twitter parties, polls). A lot seem to come from Russia.
Are his fans going to write in Dean and Castiel for the category of Favorite TV Duo next year??
Peoples Choice Awards means it is the peoples choice. This award is for the fans not necessarily for the actors or the show. All it really means is that some fans are more persistent than others. And I agree with Alice Jared and Jensen are always going to cancel each other out. And if the fans write in Dean and Cas for Favorite TV Duo then it’s up to them to make it a win. It’s all for the fans. It doesn’t affect the show or how we feel about it positive or negative. I agree with Sugar we and I’m sure the J’s don’t need a piece of glass (that evidently evil conceited “Jared” broke) to know how we feel about them. Misha’s fans voted him on to the ballot (he was a write in nominee) and they voted him into a win. Good for them! Next year if SPN fans want the J’s to win for acting or duo they better get to voting when the time comes.
Lilah, I’m a on my iPad cuz I’m at work and the damn thing keeps spell checking and auto correcting even when I didn’t make mistake….I guess misha became mishap…I promise that was unintentional;)
Of courrrrrse… 😀
but yeah I know how bad the auto correct can be and well, let me say that mishap is probably… Well the nicest that can be if you compare to some words and the auto correct on them. 🙂

I will say this about this fandom in it’s pride. You have people that’s either just for Misha or for Jensen or Jared, and that’s why we always lose in the end.
Now Misha asked for votes which takes away from the award really. But if people wasn’t so on the J vs J parade could of swallowed their pride for once, they could of took TV Duo as a team.
In Some of mIsha fans just went in for him only in didn’t even bother to throw a few votes in for the Js. As long as this keeps up we will win nothing and just more fighting. All this may have something to do with the show age/shipping wars over the years, and not to mention some people just don’t care about polls.
But we are missing unity something BATB fans have. In it’s sad we use to have this in kick but every where we go.
I seriously doubt in the grand scheme of things, that Misha stays up at night, missing sleep worrying about whether or not he wins this award. That being said, I’m sure he’s appreciative. It makes me sick to my stomach to read posts – not necessarily here, but I come across them frequently on many sites – that drone on about how Misha is such a publicity whore who is only interested in his own promotion, how he denigrates the show and is secretly trying to oust Jared. That about cover it? Oh, and what a horrible actor he is – how could I forget that minor slight? I’m not a minion by any stretch, I just abhor the hate thrown at this man. How many of us can say we started a charity or a worldwide movement such as GISHWHS?
I agree with Sugar we and I’m sure the J’s don’t need a piece of glass (that evidently evil conceited “Jared” broke)
Hi Cheryl…. what is this referring to?
and…
I agree with Leah…. I am surprised (and not in a good way) at some of these comments, both from people who are upset about the win and those who are defensive about it. There’s a lot of rudeness going on here.
The fan video spoof from S9. In the out takes Jared breaks the PCA award and blames the interviewer for it. It is pretty funny.
Oooooh! I actually haven’t seen that. I’ll have to go look it up now. 😀
It is freaking hilarious!
E did you get a chance to watch the video?
Hi Cheryl,
I did finally get to see it. It was hysterical! I loved Jared showing us “Sam”…. I can’t believe that he’s not comfortable doing humor! I love that he’s so willing to poke fun at himself. Everyone was fabulous but Jared really stood out for me. :p
Jared really was the standout in the mockumentary. I wish he would get to do that kind of comedy in Supernatural. I think Jared’s character was fully realized. I would have wanted to see Jensen’s character developed more beyond being a guy who eats tofu and practices tai chi. Like why Jensen was afraid of Jared. Two lead actors not getting along has great comedic potential.
E I’m glad you got to see it. I loved Jared (and wasn’t he particularly good looking here) and the wig, the “you’re welcome”, all the women carrying around mirrors. Did you notice that Jensen rode up to his trailer on a girls bike? I think I’ve watched that mockumentary 5 times. It’s like the show you see something new every time.
I hadn’t noticed that Jensen’s bike was a girls bike! But I did notice his pink hair band in the trailer scene. He’s ‘fragile’. Hah! I did notice that they kept spelling Misha’s name wrong on his trailer: it was Misca and then Miscah or something after he mentioned that they spelled his name wrong and asked them to change it! And Richard can really move! He took OFF when the camera girl spotted him.
Still, Jared was the standout for me in this…. his character was the most specific and convincing. I LOVED when he deigned to show us “Sam” and then said Thank you with all the sincerity in the world for this wonderful thing he’d bestowed on us. He even got his comeuppance when his wig caught on fire! HAH! Awesome. And yes…. he looked mighty, might fine!
