Official Synopsis for Supernatural 9.17 – “Meta Fiction”
Below is the official synopsis to Supernatural 9.17, Meta Fiction, which airs April 15th. This sounds like an exciting one!
SUPERNATURAL
“Meta Fiction” — (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)
METATRON OFFERS CASTIEL A DEAL — Metatron (Curtis Armstrong) attempts to get Castiel (Misha Collins) to join forces with him. Still furious with Metatron, Castiel (Misha Collins) refuses, which sets a surprising plan in motion. Meanwhile, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) capture Gadreel (Tahmoh Penikett). Thomas J. Wright directed the episode written by Robbie Thompson (#918).
Whoo-hoo! You know it’s going to be good when a synopsis with such little information makes you all excited for the episode!!
On another note: welcome back, WFB!! I’ve missed you!!! 😀
I am so excited for this episode. It seems that we are not done with Sam/Gadreel after all. I am very happy about that, becuase as much as I love the MoC story line, I’d hate to see the repercussions of the Gadreel possessing Sam storyline dropped so easily; how are we supposed to understand the conflict between the brothers if only one side of that conflict is given? This will allow (hopefully) for Sam’s side to be seen more clearly, and for the lasting effects of the trauma to be better understood.
I am confused about something Misha said in an interview: that Metatron was going to be played by “another actor” which led me to believe that Curtis Armstrong had been replaced. But, the pre-view clearly shows him in the episode and he appears to be in the last several episodes of the season as well. Anyone out there understand Misha’s reference? I am very happy the Curtis Armstrong is continuing on; I adore his Metatron. He’s so fun to hate!
And finally, welcome back WFB! You’ve weathered yet another storm. Kudos to Alice and all of her hard work!
Although bummed by the long delay, I am also excited for having these issues addressed again (and showers).
(courteous side note – shouldn’t the headline show 9.18?)
I really, really, really hope they don’t kill Gadreel. He killed Kevin yes, but just like Dean and Cass he was pushed to wrong direction. The actor was awesome in Dollhouse, but I don’t want to be those that die on every series they are on. As you look at our question mark angel he did very bad. (Killed Kevin) but he also really did some good. Sam is alive all because of him. (Will not go into how it was done). He protected Sam from harm and I think he really liked Dean and he didn’t like the feeling what his betrayal made him feel. He is like Cass. Just like a child that doesn’t know better. He also healed Cass and Charlie. Not making excuses for him as he did bad but Like Magnus I would really like to get to know an interesting char better. And like I said. Metatron is the mastermind. Gadreel is just as betrayed by him I am sure as the boys are.
Anyway, some payback is good but I hope it is not so easy than just kill the miss guided angel off.
Really looking forward to this episode, especially the Sam/Gadreel stuff. I’ve everything crossed that we’ll be getting to see some of Sam’s thoughts and feelings on the subject. Also looking forward to seeing Metatron again, Curtis Armstrong is fabulous.

I agree with you, E. It’s way past time for us to find out how Sam feels from Sam himself. I’m hoping that since Sam and Dean find Gad that whatever happens between Sam and Gad will give Dean some idea as to what Sam is angry about. He needs to understand what he did to Sam, IMO.
Yay, comments are back! I hope the troubles are over for you Alice. 🙂
I actually had withdrawal symptoms about bot being able to comment stuff with you guys. (Including the hiatus that the series have atm) They have given only a little new hints about what we will get after the break so I actually watched all the old episodes again. I am really exited about this one but I still wish and keep my hopes up they won’t kill Gadreel off. But some sort of punishment he needs to get. We will see.
Thanks, Alice! It’s funny, I was having withdrawal symptoms too. From not getting to READ the comments! I’m so happy the website works. I hope you are ok. I know it was a nightmare.
I am very exited about the episode as well. Especially a certain shower scene… Mmmmm…. But also Gadreel and Metatron. Curtis Armstrong is so perfectly hateable as Metatron. I love a really slimy bad guy!!!
