The WFB Spoilery Lite/Speculative Preview: Supernatural 9.14 – “Captives”
Hellatus ends tomorrow, finally. Here’s what we know about the next episode
Synopsis
SUPERNATURAL TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 25
“Captives” — (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, LV) (HDTV)
THE BUNKER IS HAUNTED — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are stunned to discover the Men of Letters’ bunker is haunted. Their investigation leads them to a storage facility where the demons have been keeping a prize possession. Meanwhile, Castiel (Misha Collins) is captured by Bartholomew (guest star Adam Harrington). Jerry Wanek directed the episode written by Robert Berens (914).
Then we have our promos.
The first promo is strictly about this episode. We see a haunted MOL bunker, Crowley in an extremely emotional state, and Bartholomew and Cas confronting each other. The tag words are the Unexplained for what is happening in the bunker, although Dean identifies it as a haunting; the Unhinged displayed over Crowly and the Unforgiven over the meeting of Cas and Bartholomew.
The extended promo adds some scenes from the next episode which features the GhostFacers.
The sneak peek has Dean and Sam sitting together. Dean has been calling Crowley. He has left three emails with no response. Sam finally suggest that “maybe he’s just not that into you”.
We also have exerpts from the interview with Adam Harrington here giving us a small peak at his relationship with Cas. It appears from the interview that there is more between them than we knew.
I have all sorts of questions about this episode. Is Crowley really having an emotional crisis due to his partial cure and apparent addiction to human blood? Or is he using the Winchester’s knowledge of his partial cure to manipulate them in some manner? Why is the MOL bunker being haunted? In the Oz episode we saw one MOL die violently in the bunker and others could have died there over the years. Certainly the ghost of a MOL would know that if he manifested the MOL would find a way to make him move on. Could a former MOL be the ghost? The MOL studied supernatural phenomena, could they have brought a ghost into the bunker for study and then when they were killed it just kind of hung around, waiting to be released from whatever contained it? We also have (the recently murdered by Gadreel in Sam’s body) Kevin Tran. Could Kevin be sticking around trying to finish decoding the tablets? Yes Dean burned his body, but if his notes were left behind the Prophet might be tied to them. Or Kevin may be staying around because he knows that Metatron has killed the other prophets and he is the only one left to help. Of course there is always the possibility that what looks like a ghost isn’t one.
Then there’s Cas. We haven’t seen him with any angels that knew him since he was Godstiel. He’s met angels who knew who he was and who either blamed him or forgave him his rampage. The last angel we met who was actually a friend of Cas was Balthazar and that ended very badly. If one of them is unforgiven is it Cas? Or might it be Bartholmew?
And what of the brothers? After the heartbreaking conversation in the last episode will we get more discussion of where they stand? Or will it all be swept under the rug for now?
And finally we have a guest star role for Snooki. Since I don’t watch her show, I have NO idea what will happen there.
Any speculation or ideas are more than welcome. We will have some answers tomorrow.
CHCH promo is up. This is very spoilery and one of my guesses was right!
Both Inais and Hester in season 7 knew Castiel and Inais was friendly.
The potential prophets were deactivated by Metatron. I understood this to mean that he’s fixed it so none were activated at Kevin’s death. I didn’t think that he killed them.
The Demon’s prize is Mama Tran I think. Kevin is most likely the ghost since he was most recently killed and possibly angry or has unfinished business like freeing his mother.
Crowley is possibly more emotional and upset by his temporary setback. Maybe he finds the current season of Girls overwhelming.
Apparently Cas and Bart have a history. Cannot be a good history since Bart sen roguet reapers to kill him and is not a good angel. He worked for Naomi so maybe he’s helped with Cas’ reprogramming.
Happy about the chill scene. Dean should never forget what was said. Or that he was abandoned in Purgatory, asked to abandon a friend in his time of need, or was cast aside in favor of a demon.

Finally a new episode! But do I understand that we will only have two knew episodes before a month hiatus? That is so wrong.

Cheryl – According to The Futon Critic (an authority on the scheduling), that isn’t the case. Although, no titles or information has been released either, so who knows.

From what I know, Episode 20 is supposed to air April 29th. Captives is episode 14, next week is episode 15. Then the show takes a one week break on March 11th. So, from 3/18 to 4/22, four more episodes need to air. So no, I don’t see how a month break is possible.

Well that is a relief. I saw that info on SweetonDean’s blog. Maybe it’s different in Australia?

Maybe there is something wrong with me, but I do wonder what Sam does in HIS room? And hmmm, that episode was so welcome even if it did seem a trifle jumpy. But, I liked each jump. They all opened new possibilities. Love Mrs. Tran! Great scene with her and the demon kill. And, I expect Kevin’s words and watching Mrs. Tran and Kevin together started the new path of reconciliation for Sam and Dean too, it will just take time. And that’s okay for me. Maybe it will stick then and the writers will have a stronger fuller adult brother relationship to work with. So no more going down the “break up” path?! Maybe. I will keep watching anyway. I know I will. Love The Relationship. 🙂 Oh, and I laughed out loud at Bartholomew quoting the Borg. “Resistance is futile”
