Behold, Another CW Press Release! Supernatural’s and The Originals’ Ratings Continue To Be Strong
You know, I’m always happy when the network is happy, but when they go all statistical like this and throw all those wonderful demo stats out there, my inner geek explodes. So, for those of you with an inner geek who thrives on this stuff, this is The CW’s gift to you for a Wednesday. For the rest of you, yay “Supernatural” and “The Originals!”
From the CW press release about last night’s ratings:
THE ORIGINALS and Supernatural continue to see strong ratings, with both series rising week to week in 18-34 demos and matching The CW’s best Tuesday night of the season in A18-34 (1.0/3), tying the network’s best Tuesday night since Sept. 2011.
THE ORIGINALS jumped +29% week to week in A18-34 (0.9/3) and +11% in W18-34 (1.0/3), and matched last week in A18-49 (0.9/3) and W18-49 (1.1/3).
Supernatural rose +25% week to week in A18-34 (1.0/3) +22% in W18-34 (1.1/3), and hit a season high in M18-34 (1.0/3), up +25% vs. last week. It was even with last week in A18-49 (1.1/3) and W18-49 (1.1/3). Supernatural beat Fox and tied ABC in the hour among M18-34.
The CW continues to see big gains Tuesday nights versus last season, doubling its A18-34 (1.0/3) and A18-49 (1.0/3) ratings compared to this same week a year ago, and up +71% in total viewers for the night (2.09M) and +38% in W18-34 (1.1/3).
This season The CW has seen major increases in DVR viewing. Last week’s episode of THE ORIGINALS saw huge week to week increases in delayed Live + 3 Day DVR viewing, more than doubling its W18-34 (+119%, 1.89 vs 0.86) rating, and nearly doubling its rating in A18-34 (+91%, 1.42 vs 0.74) versus the Live+Same Day ratings.
THE ORIGINALS averaged 3.37M viewers, a +51% gain over L+SD, and marking the series most watched episode of the season in L+3. It was also THE ORIGINALS highest-rated episode of the season in A18-49 (1.62), which rose +72% over its L+SD rating.
Supernatural also saw big gains in L+3 data versus L+SD, rising +47% in A18-34 (1.21 vs 0.82), +40% in A18-49 (1.48 vs 1.06), +58% in W18-34 (1.37 vs 0.87), and +34% in total viewers (3.12M vs 2.34M).
Alice, I love this cw press releases! For me, like you, is watch SPN at night and wait for the ratings relase on the next day!
Thanks Alice. This is great news! We need to keep our ratings up. I not only watch it at first airing but I also DVR is so I can re-watch, total addition here, I admit it. 😆
Thanks Alice. My obsession now includes waiting for the ratings on Wednesday. I usually re watch the episodes the next day on demand to catch what I might have missed the first time. I often find that my personal rating of an episode goes up a bit the second time as I am not as plot obsessed and can put all the meaning into the episode. Ratings staying good so CW might do an early pick up for season 10? How is it trending on social media these days with the live tweets from Mr. Padalecki and friends?
