Supernatural Still a Big Draw For TNT
It’s amazing how many people I talk to online of late that have discovered Supernatural for the first time on TNT during it’s morning syndicated run. Today I was able to see some evidence as to why that’s the case. Supernatural is a top rated AM cable show!
TV by The Numbers, a most excellent site for people like me who love to geek over numbers, lists ratings from all forms of television, including basic cable ratings. They get ratings by day for the top 100 cable shows for all timeslots Only one show from the morning timeslot has been making that list consistently. Supernatural! Both hours.
Here’s the rating from the recently published list from Tuesday, January 22nd:
Total 18-49
(Thousands)
SUPERNATURAL TNT 9:00 AM 915,000 0.5
SUPERNATURAL TNT 10:00 AM 895,000 0.5
Here’s the ratings for Monday in the 11 am slot. Even bigger!
SUPERNATURAL TNT 11:00 AM 1,064,000 0.5
The show has been running in syndication for a few years now and it’s still pulling numbers like this. Trust me when I say, for morning ratings, this is big. No wonder the show is finding a lot of new viewers!
Here’s the entire list for comparison:

Alice Jester is the founder, editor-in-chief, head writer, programmer, web designer, site administrator, marketer, and moderator for The Winchester Family Business. She is a 30 year IT applications and database expert with a penchant for creative and freelance writing in her spare (ha!!) time. That’s on top of being a wife, mother of two active kids, and four loving (aka needy) pets.
I think TNT and Netflix ARE where so many new viewers are from. This is not a show that is good to pick up in the middle. Before unless someone was willing to buy them on DVD they would be lost (or at the very least not get the full impact) when they watch the later shows.
It took awhile, but I got all my sister’s family to watch it. They became obsessed now the kids are convincing all their friends to watch it. (My mom complains that’s all we talk about when we get together). I got two of my brother’s watching it, but the third kept rolling his eyes. But his wife just told he’s start watching a couple weeks ago and is now on the third season. SO HA. He is so getting a I told you so.
Thank goodness for TNT or I would never found this Gem of a show, oh what I would have missed!! I am sure it will pull in lots of new regular viewers, who just have to know more about this show!
I try to catch it on TNT every morning. I love that they’ve added an extra hour. Now it’s a 3 hour block. I wonder when Season 7 will be added to the rotation. Oh and I’m looking forward to the weekend of Supernatural that usually shows on TNT next month…I think on the weekend before President’s day. (at least that when it’s happened in the past)
I have to admit to tuning in to TNT on those mornings when I’m alone doing stuff around the house…. Those re-watches are my guilty pleasure, and so much more fun than the radio….so thanks to TNT!
I usually always have the tv tuned into TNT each morning. Great background distraction! Makes me feel slightly less obsessed than turning on the blu-ray 😉
At 3 episodes per day, 15 per week…you can watch an entire season in less than 2 weeks. Really a great way too catch up for those who don’t own the dvd’s.
I also have TNT to thank for my introduction to SPN, and it was the marathon on a snowy February day three years ago. I got the DVDs as soon as I could and enjoyed all-SPN weekends. Then I located the CW (sorry, network, I’d never heard of you) and watched Season 5 on the computer. I was ready for Season 6 in real time. TNT is currently on Season 2 (or was last week – at 3 a day, they do go fast). Season 2 and 3 are tied for my favorites!
Im up as soon as charmed goes off im ready to watch all three episodes always hope full for one more afterwards i think im there biggest fan
