Last night was the premiere night for the highly anticipated new CW experiment, the Wednesday SciFi block! “Arrow,” which was touted by many to be the best pilot of the fall season, made it’s debut and was for the first time paired with “Supernatural.” The results were huge.
“Arrow” scored a 1.3 in the 18-49 demo and ratings of 4.02 million. This is the largest premiere for the CW since “The Vampire Diaries” and the most watched show since November, 2009. “Supernatural,” which scored a .8 and 1.80 million viewers in its premiere last week, rose to a 1.0 in 18-49 and 2.60 million viewers. They haven’t done that since October, 2010.
Below is the CW press release. I love sharing good news about our show!

Congrats CW on a rare win. What did you think of the Arrow premiere. Are you hooked?

Thanks Alice, great news!! SPN Fan mentioned this in another thread and I was thrilled. Yes! Some wins finally. I watched the Arrow premiere and really enjoyed it. I thought the acting was great and the characters winning. It is going to be a great partner for Supernatural. I think it will be a mutually beneficial pairing. The 1st episode got my attention, I will definitely watch next week.
Alice, did you see it and will you be reviewing it on one of your websites? I would like to hear your opinion.
Yes, I’ll have a review up for Arrow on the TV For The Rest of Us website. I loved it.
One small addition. Arrows lead actor was amazingly fit and athletic. He seemed to be doing most of the stunts and fight scenes and very well!! OK, even I am getting sick of my numerous comments! Day off, what can I say. Later all.
I checked TV by the numbers just to see how the pairing did and I was pleased to see the numbers.
But I got one question. Best Wednesday Night in two years? Wasn’t Supernatural on a Wednesday two years ago? Sorry but it has been moved around so much that I can’t remember that fact anymore.
I think this is the first time Supernatural has been on Wednesday. It started on Tuesday, moved to Thursday, moved to Friday and then came to Wednesday. I also remember that when it was on the WB and on Tuesdays, they reran Supernatural Beginnings on Sunday. I know that when I heard they were moving to Wednesday I thought, now all they have to do is move it to Monday and it will have been on all the days that the CW programs. There is a slight chance that it was shown on Wednesday as a one off that I don’t remember, but as to regularly scheduled, I don’t remember Wednesday.
I was really happy to hear this news. I also really like Arrow (and was pleased to see the SuperN ties – David Nutter directing, Katie Cassidy as Laurel). I am definitely going to watch more.
I’m also really enjoying Revolution too. 🙂
