Supernatural Magazine Temporarily Discontinued, Likely Permanent
Rumors started swirling today that Supernatural Magazine, which has been in publication since November 2007, has immediately stopped publication and that the current issue, #35, will be the last. A number of people who contacted Titan Magazines, the publisher of Supernatural magazine, got varied and confusing messages from customer service, who seemed unaware of the real reason why their system was no longer taking orders. Finally, this message was sent to a subscriber who complained further. She has graciously shared this message with us and has given us permission to post it:
Hello –
I apologize for the miscommunication by our Customer Service Company. The discontinuing of Supernatural Magazine has nothing to do with the show, rather the fact that our Publishing Agreement with Warner Brothers has expired. We are currently working with Warner Brothers to formulate a plan for the remaining issues and will notify all customers of this plan as soon as we know more. We too are very disappointed that we will not be able to publish Supernatural Magazine in the future. Loyal fans, such as yourself, made this title a cornerstone of the Titan Publishing Group.
Thank you for making me aware of this situation.
All the best,
John
I know that at least one petition is circulating around Twitter, but it would be best to contact Titan Publishing directly to let them know your displeasure over Supernatural magazine being discontinued. Be respectful, for Titan is trying to run a business and often times these contract negotiations with studios get difficult. Warner Brothers tends to make things very expensive with its licensing the older a show gets, and things are a lot different now that they’re negotiating Supernatural in its eighth season as opposed to its third.
This is the information for Titan’s “Contact Us” page for Circulation:

We will keep you informed with any new developments as they happen.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to contact Warners? To make sure that rights allow the magazine to continue to be published?
Logic would dictate that, except I don’t have info for anyone to contact there. They usually don’t comment on these vendor negotiations. Titan is the place to start, and if they want to share who to contact at Warner Brothers, that would be helpful. They can pass on the fan protests and use that in their negotiations in the meantime.
Thanks for the sanity, Alice! Regrettable in the extreme if Warner prices the magazine out of existence; better to get some revenue out of it than none at all! The business aspects of the business sometimes drives me nuts. *wry grin*
Stargate Magazine died in 2010, fourteen seasons and three movies into the franchise.
At issue thirty-six, which seems a trifle too coincidental.
I heard rumblings about this earlier but thought just a very bad joke. I find this devasting news. I have had my subscription since Issue #1. We have to find a way to make Titan publish my favorite magazine
And if this is a permanent cancellation and I don’t get at least some of my money back, I’ma be pissed.
So now, not only don’t I get to watch Supernatural when it airs on the CW because CableVision dropped it, but now I can’t even get the magazine? This is making it more and more difficult to be a fan!!!
I was just wondering, this won’t affect back issue ordering will it? There are a bunch of older issues I don’t have yet and have been wanting to order.
I love reading this magazine and the interviews with the guys and crew. I am extremely disappointed that my #35 may be the last. Did I mention the wonderful pictures?
This makes me sad. I was looking forward to the Oct 16th issue, as I did with all of the 35 issues. I had a little ritual of buying a few of my favorite little Lindor chocolate balls and reading my magazine. The littlest things make me happy. I will miss the magazine. I am so glad I decided to keep them all!
hi alice, thank you for this info and titan’s contact addresses. i’ll be sure to [s]beg[/s] get in touch with titan.
it was good seeing you in toronto!
Buffy magazine was the only one I know that lasted 94 issues, and ran four years past its final episode. Has any other shows ran magazines past its final season before?
Charmed did
The last issue I received was October 2012 – I rung up today to ask why I hadn’t received any more and was told that the October 2012 was the final issue to be printed and that Titan were ceasing to publish any more and would refund me my subscription money. It’s annoying that Titan takes money of customers and then doesn’t tell them that the product they’ve paid for isn’t available any more – not a good way to do business. Its a real shame about the magazine.
I don’t know if any subscribers have received it, but I found issue No. 36 of Supernatural magazine at my local Kmart today (3/2). I don’t know if there will be any more issues, but at least 36 is available.
Did you really? Because http://titanmagazines.com/t/supernatural/us/ says the latest issue is 35.
My copy of Fresh Meat (which has been out all of what, two weeks?) advertises the magazine in the back of the book, mind, so I won’t say I disbelieve you.
A subscriber told me she got this message from Titan a few weeks ago:
“Thank you for your below inquiry. Supernatural issue #36 is currently being printed and should be received by subscribers early March. Should you need further assistance, please feel free to contact our customer service department at 800-999-9718 Monday thru Friday, 8:00am till 5:00pm PST for immediate assistance.”
The only question is, it is not known at this time if that’s the last edition or if more are coming. Supernatural is not listed on the Titan website under subscriptions. Still trying to find out for sure.
hi – i had called titan last week and they confirmed that #36 is indeed the final issue (alas). subscribers will receive a letter along with this.
hmm not sure if you all know or not be issue 35 come out in march of this year.
but not sure if they plan to do anymore after that.
Just an FYI:
I was going through all my magazines yesterday because I knew I was missing a couple and was thinking about ordering back issues to complete my collection. I noticed that issue #35 was the latest as of March 2013, which I found strange because the last one I bought was #33 back in June/July 2012. So, I went to Titan’s site and it only showed Supernatural as being available on back issue and Digital Download (which for me would be the Apple App store).
