Misha Collins Interview Round Up
With the return of Castiel next week in episode 7.17, “The Born-Again Identity,†many interviews from Misha have begun to surface, with promises of many more next week. Here are some that were recently released.
From E!Online:
Kristin Dos Santos in her latest “Spoiler Chat†post the tease below from Misha about his return and promised more ‘spoilers’ next week from her most recent interview with him.
Tom in East Islip, N.Y.: Anything you can tell us about Misha Collins’ return to Supernatural?
It just so happens that we chatted with Mr. Collins about his highly-anticipated reappearance as the much-beloved Castiel. While you’ll have to wait until next week for our full chat with him (we’re such teases), we will share this: Collins describes Castiel’s new look as “nerdy†and says he based his voice on Miley Cyrus. Yeah, we think he was joking about the Miley thing, but you just never know with Supernatural now do you?
From TVGuide’s Ileane Rudolph:
TV Guides latest printed issue also has an interview with Misha Collins and so far there doesn’t seem to be an online source for the article, but a scaned file is circulating. Below is a transcription.
Magic Castiel
“After six months’ absence, Misha Collins returns to Supernatural for the first of at least three appearances as fan fave Castiel, the angel-turned-vengeful god-turned-pond scum (courtesy of the Leviathans, the power-hungry creatures he released from Purgatory). Collins has kept busy with his Web series Divine, a Ringer guest spot and breaking a Guiness record for biggest scavenger hunt, but, he says, ‘It’s great being back on Supernatural.’
“The last time we saw Castiel, he was a mass of black goo. But when we see him again, he looks like the old Cas. What happens?
“You’re trying to get me to tell secrets! Castiel does return – not as a Leviathan host or covered in black goo. But, yes, there is change within him.
“Are you an ally of Dean and Sam again?
“Cas does not come back as a foe of the Winchesters. He’s going through yet another transformation and another kind of struggle and journey. Once again, he’ll be put through the wringer.
“You guest starred on Ringer recently as a mere mortal. Was it fun to play human for a change?
“It’s nice to smile and be emotive and not be wooden from time to time.
“Could you be back next season if Supernatural returns?
“There’s no reason why it couldn’t happen. After all, Castiel has been resurrected from total oblivion about four times. Death on Supernatural is never insurmountable!â€

From Zap2it:
And another interview from Misha given to Zap2it recently contain some overlap with the others but some new tidbits as well. Excepts below.
When asked if the fans can expect more closure for the Cass character, Collins replied, “”I haven’t seen the final episode [script]. “If, by closure, you mean salting and burning the bones, and permanently, irrevocably, eradicating the character — then no. That is not the case.”
Misha also stated that he didn’t feel Cas was carelessly discarded earlier in the season. “You know, it was amazing when that term ‘closure’ was bandied about,” Collins says. “Some fans that I talked to were upset that Cas didn’t maybe get a proper burial or a proper period of mourning. I kind of don’t really agree with that.” Collins explains, “I think Cas had been on a road of death, and there was a mourning going on for him for the entire last several episodes, which happened to bleed over into season 7.” He continues, â€By the time Castiel walked into that lake, the mourning had already occurred. Cas, as everyone knew him, had been gone for some time by that point.”
Collins also said, “I think that Cas is getting his due attention at the end of Season 7, if that’s what they [fans] are looking for.”
Collins also said he would be very happy to have Cas continue in season 8 if the show is renewed and has stated such to both Robert Singer and Sera Gamble.
