Wallowing in Self Indulgence or The Sad Ones I Can No Longer Ignore
In this collection I am going against the grain of everything I have been preaching in the recent articles about “Smiling through Helllatus,” if that is your aim, sorry, but you are really on the wrong bus here.
I am blaming all this on a recent trip to London where I saw a stunning production of Les Miserables. I have been lucky enough to see the show on numerous occasions over the years but this production was something very special, it is incredibly moving and powerful and it put me in a reflective and emotional mood. There are some Supernatural videos that feature music from “Les Mis” but more of that in an upcoming collection.
When I look through my Real Player library I find myself drawn to the same videos again and again and I confess they are mostly of the `angsty` variety. Whether it is because through them I have discovered some great music or because of the fantastic clips and images a lot of them use, I am unsure. How is it possible for someone to look so beautiful when crying??
This also turned out to be an extremely frustrating exercise though as I discovered that many of my favourites are no longer available on You Tube. Why do they remove the good stuff? Still, I do hope you will find some here amongst the ones that are available to move you too.
So, this collection comes with a warning arising from the following videos.
Enter with care, at your own risk, and bring tissues.
The first video is one of the earliest I ever discovered on You Tube and is still near the top of my list of favourites. The song was not new to me and I loved it from the first time I heard it. The song is “Angel” by the fantastic Sarah Mclachlin (the woman has a magnificent voice!) There are loads of “Supernatural” videos set to her songs, two wonderful ones using “Full of Grace” and “The Answer.” There was a stunning one which used scenes from “On The Head of a Pin” set against her version of St. Francis Prayer – “Lord make me an instrument of your peace.” Considering the subject of the images, should not have worked, but it was wonderful. This is one of the aforementioned “removed from You Tube ones.” If anyone knows where we could find a link to this, please let me know.
This one is really beautiful and even more poignant now in view of where we are with the story and the Dean/Cas relationship. The vidder is called Carrie but she uses the name LotofHooplah, she has entitled her video “You deserve to be saved.”
From a really old clip to a relatively new find, this is a great “brother” video. It uses a song from Rascal Flatts and really manages to say it all. The vidder is sammygirlfan and the clip is called “Sam and Dean Won`t let go.”
The next video is by the prolific and always brilliant Loki. She calls it a “Dean character study” but I think the lyrics are applicable to both of the Winchesters as they refer to sacrifices made. The artist is new to me, Full Blown Rose, and the song wonderful, this is SecretlyToDream- “Burden of Sacrifice.” As ever the editing is stunning
There are many clips set to the next song but this is my favourite, it is Alter Bridge`s “Loving Memory.” This video show Dean`s memories of Sam and for me deserves a special `tissue alert` The vidder is CamCazzy.

From a video dealing with Sam`s death to one focusing on Deans and the year leading up to it. How this show loves to torture us! This is another very early discovery edited by Valerie250388, it features The Calling`s track “Last Goodbye.”
Another major tissue warning required for this one! Some episodes obviously inspire moving videos and of course “All Hell Breaks Loose” more than qualifies. It`s another one showing Dean dealing, or not, with Sam`s death. It is edited by SNjackson23 and uses a beautiful song by Fisher, “I Will Love You.” This one kills me and makes me want to hug Dean Winchester even more that usual!

I mentioned in another collection that it was through You Tube clips I discovered, Poets of The Fall. This was the video that prompted me to look further into their catalogue of work. It`s another great clip by ash4897 and uses the track “Where Do We Draw The Line?” examining just how far the Winchesters will go for each other.
This is a very short video but it packs a real punch! It features an old track I have always found really moving but combined with these words and images!!! The vidder is TikiTyler9 and she uses Simon and Garfunkel`s “Bookends Theme” in her clip, “Heya Sammy.”
Another song used in multiple videos is featured here in this clip edited by Loud82, it is by Superchick and is “Beauty From Pain.”
A killer one for me now, it is edited by Kiwiflurve and uses a cover of one of my favourite Beatles tracks “Blackbird.” This version is taken from the soundtrack of the film “Across The Universe” and is sung by Evan Rachel Wood.
The song here has become one of my favourite “finds.” It`s “Sail the wildest stretch” by Powderfinger. The vidder is 86smash and I just love her use of sepia freeze frames in this. She includes a lot of powerful images from the first five seasons and calls the clip “Fade into silence.”
The fantastic “Bring Me To Life” by Evanessence has been used in many “Supernatural” videos as, let`s face it, it is perfect for the show. The one I am including is really indulgent for me as it uses clips solely from “In My Time of Dying,” it might not be the saddest adaptation of the song, but this episode holds a very special place in my heart as it was the first I ever saw, and by the end I was totally hooked. This video is edited by Julline236
Back to the serious angst with this one, it is beautiful though! It uses a cover of the Oasis song “Stop Crying Your Heart Out” by Leona Lewis. The vidder is kjcharmed21 and the clip is called “Cos All of the Stars Have Faded Away.”

This video has not had many viewings but it really deserves to be seen as I think it is wonderful. It is a study of Dean`s year before Hell and aftermath of his time downstairs and it is heartbreaking. The song was a new one on me, “Bother” by Stone Sour. It is edited by FA TE522 and is called “After Everything I`ve Done For This Family.”
I am returning to Dean and Cas now with this video which again is even more moving in view of recent events. It features an incredible song by The Trans-Siberian Orchestra, “Believe.” It is another edited by Carrie using the name LotofHooplah, for me this one warrants a “red alert” tissue warning now.
The final video I only discovered yesterday, I have watched it a lot since then, and I think it is beautiful. It reduced me to a crying wreck (Did I mention I have been a little emotional recently??). It uses an amazing Josh Groban song, “War at Home,” but when combined with these images, especially the ones from AAH with Ellen and Jo, it becomes even more powerful. The vidder is ctrimonkeed, it says in the description of the clip that it was produced for a competition at the mid west con where it won first prize for best interpretation of a song, after seeing their work I am not surprised.
I hope everyone finds something here to move or inspire them and again I would love to hear your suggestions and favourites.
I can’t go into this today… but I am very sure that I will love your choices. Some of the songs featured are among my favourites, and I am curious to see how they will look like in Supernatural manner…
Thanks for putting this together. Perhaps I’m in an ‘angsty’ mood tomorrow. Should we get some more rain, I’ll probably add these vids…
Love, Jas
Honestly Jas, a lot of these are well suited to be viewed with `a little fall of rain` 😉 Love, Ju
Hi Julie
A wonderful collection you have once again provided.
It always amazes me the artistic talent and patience these vidders have to put one of these video’s together.
I did prepare myself with your warning and made sure I had a full roll of bathroom tissue with me before watching (Kleenex is just too expensive). And I pretty much went thru the whole roll. It was worth it though, sometimes we just need that reason to have a good cry.
Cheers!
Hi Karen,
I must admit I am also in awe at the talent some of these vidders possess.
There are so many heartbreaking examples out there, this could be an endless series as our show, I feel sure, will continue to provide excellent inspiration.
As you say if you need excuses for a good cry they provide some of the best.
Glad you `enjoyed` this in a sort of twisted way 🙂
Thanks for your comment
Love Ju
These videos are fantastic! Thank you so much for putting them in one place. I love each one of them and to all who made the videos: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! SPN fans are the best fans ever!
Thank you Stricknine1,
I am pleased you enjoyed these so much.
As you say the SPN fandom are quite a devoted bunch, with good reason, don`t you agree! Ju
Tissue alarm! Where is that darned Kleenex weep box when you need it?!
You are a doll, Julie, thank you for providing this passionately masochistic gal with these videos!
:-* , Jas
Well Jas, we do love a good wallow in the angst every now and again.
There is a song `Why does the devil have all the good music?` A lot of the most angsty videos have the best tunes too!
And like you I love them!
Love Ju
Thanks Col, there is no one more gifted in the art of the `OPT` is there?
Ju
Ooooh, the angsty ones!… 😥 I’ve quite a few in my favourites myself, and some are just so so beautiful and moving… 😥
Thanks, Julie. I don’t know why we all like to swallow in angst and sorrow sometimes: maybe it’s kind of a catharsis, and this show is just SO good at it, dammit…
Hi Brynhild
I totally agree, and there are so many of them, I easily have enough to compile a few more `angsty lists` and they are as you say all beautiful and moving.
Maybe when we see these, and what the Winchesters have to go through, it makes us think that perhaps our own lives are really not so bad after all 🙂
Thanks for commenting Ju
Julie, You have done it again! 😆 Thanks for all the great vids. I LOVE the angsty ones. And Deans OPT. Hand me a hankie. 🙁 “War at Home”s my new favorite. And I love Poets of the Fall (I, too discovered them through SPN vids.)I agree that Ash’s is the best of the many done to “Where do We Draw The Line”.
My previous favs are “for what it is worth..I’ve got your back..” (Sam/Dean) by Doode25 to Christina Perri’s “Jar of Hearts” and is from S5 and S6 up to January.
My other is Sam & Dean Shattered 2011 (Part 2) by TheJessy34 to Trading Yesterday’s “Shattered”.
Kleenex Alert. 😮
Thank You Marilyn,
Really pleased you enjoyed these so much. War at Home, is a bit special, although I found a new clip yesterday which had an even more profound effect on me, 🙁 or maybe yesterday was just a bad day! No doubt that one will show up in another collection.
Thanks for your suggestions, I have found the links for them.
I discovered this wonderful song from a Supernatural clip too, but it is one of those which have been removed from You Tube now. `Jar of hearts` has been used in quite a few videos, possibly as the lyrics do lend themselves so well to the Robosam storyline.

`Shattered` is another song which has been used countless times, my own favourite version uses the whole track and is called `God`s Chosen`, I want to include this in an upcoming collection looking at all the Supernatural characters, practically all of them are featured in that version.

Once again thanks for your comment and for adding to the list Ju
Julie,
Thanks for finding the links. I am slowly being pulled into the technological age by my children (the same ones who forced me to watch Supernatural in the first place) and my middle school students. Finding SPN videos online and posting comments are big leaps forward for me. 😉
Can’t wait to see your next collection of videos. 😆
Hi marilyn
I am quite technologically challenged myself, but finding Supernatural clips and commmenting here are both so addictive, I am sure you will spend far too much time on both of these things, just like me 🙂
Alice has a few more collections `in the bag`, hope you enjoy them too! Ju
awesome job!! I congratulate you! my emotional state and my sencibilidad are the limit!
Thank You Vero,
Hope you did not get too emotional watching these 🙁 Ju
Thanks, Julie, for finding all these! They’re wonderful, even though they make me use up my tissue supply & spend way too much time on the computer!
Hello Dawn
You are welcome!
I think I should buy shares in Kleenex or Loo Rolls, Karen uses these as they are cheaper 😉
Feel free to use me as your excuse for spending so much time online. Watching SPN videos? I can`t think of better way to kill a few hours 🙂
Thanks for your comment Ju
There are so many powerful SPN vids that I have been watching since Hiatus hit, and especially with the ending of Season 6, more heart breaking ones pop up everyday, especially concerning Cas and the bonds with the boys!
So here, I will show you a top 6 of my favorite SPN vids!
1. This is perhaps the most perfect Castiel tribute for Cas’s journey, made by my favorite SPN vidder Doode25!

2. This one is a brilliant video to chronicle Dean and Cas’s bond and friendship! The lyrics were so perfectly fitting!

3. Once again made by the brilliant vidder Doode25, this one is a great video to Sam and Dean’s never-breaking bond!

4. This one is a Team Free Will video, a tribute to our three boys who stuck by each other through the hardest times! The song is perfect, Mumford and Sons “Timshel”

5. Another powerful vid by Doode25, this one for Dean and Castiel that is so beautiful!

6. This one for Dean and Cas is one vid where we can see the feelings from Cas’s side as the events of Season 6 all went down, and it shows that bond that I hope will not break away!

These 6 vids are my top faves, they invoke so much tears and heart-ache!
Hello Belinda
Thank you for adding your own favourites, there were some interesting ones, a couple of them were new to me.
If you have viewed any of my previous collections you will know you were really onto a winner including a video set to Timshel. 😉 It has been used so many times and every clip I have seen has `worked`, just a couple of hours ago I was looking on You Tube and a new one has been uploaded today which is the best I have seen, you can bet that will appear here at some point. 🙂
The first one set to Rubik`s Cube is just wonderful. It will also be appearing again as I had already included it in a Castiel collection which Alice will be publishing at a later date.
I think this is a pretty good way of getting through hellatus don`t you?
Thanks for joining in! Ju
