Happy Birthday Jim Beaver!
Jim Beaver, @Jumblejim and Beav to all his twidjits, is our beloved Bobby Singer on Supernatural, and August 12th he is celebrating his 60th birthday.
Well love by all his cast members, Beaver has been a stable and consistent actor on the show, and the only character the writers have remain true to for the entire 5 years. If fact, the only permanent set on Supernatural is Bobby’s house. Everything else is either a temporary set (including all of those terrific motel rooms) or a real location.
Jim Beaver is a long history as a character actor and playwright, and is also quite the film historian. He has starred as Ellsworth on HBO’s Emmy Award winning series Deadwood, and has played simultaneous roles on Supernatural, Big Love, and John From Cincinnati. He also played Sheriff Charlie Mills on Harper’s Island, a tremendous horror thriller/mystery created by Ari Schlossberg. If you haven’t seen it, you should!
A Vietnam vet and a native of Laramie, Wyoming, Beaver was married to Cecily Adams (daughter of Don Adams) from 1989 until her death in 2004. The tragic story of her courageous cancer battle and the bittersweet childhood of their autistic daughter, Maddie has been chronicled in his book Life’s That Way: A Memoir. Of Beaver’s novel, Publishers Weekly writes, “While this cancer memoir often chills the reader to the core with pain and frustration, it offers countless reasons to cheer Beaver as a remarkable man, a loving husband and a responsible single parent.” (So like our Bobby!)
Besides his recurring role of Bobby this year, Jumblejim will appear on the series premiere of the NBC series Law and Order: Los Angeles in September playing the father of a murder victim on the drama. He’ll act alongside recently-announced regulars Alfred Molina and Skeet Ulrich. Of his guest appearance Jim writes, “It’ll be fun to play something that doesn’t have demons in it,” (Okay everyone, I’m sure he’s just kidding…at least I hope so!)
Enjoyed reading this. And I would also like to add my Happy Birthday wishes to Jim Beaver – helluva actor, helluva father and helluva good person. (Is Hellatus over yet?-)
OH yes, have a very Happy Birthday Jim.
Sablegreen, thank you so much for this sweet tribute to the wonderful, honourable man that is Jim Beaver.
I have rarely met a man who embodied so many good qualities a human being can actually own. After having been through the horrible tragedy of losing his partner, and after everything he probably has experienced we don’t even know about – he still kept a positive outlook on life.
I wish him the most magical years to come, from the bottom of my heart that will always, after having talked to him, hold a special place reserved for Jim.
Blessed be, Mr Beaver! Love, Jas
Happy Birthday Jim!
I never knew Jim’s birthday is the same as my husbands, different year but same day.
Thanks Sablegreen this was a lovely birthday tribute to Jim/Bobby.
Thank you Sablegreen for writing this tribute.
A wonderful by product of loving this show for me was discovering Jim Beavers` amazing book at a time when I really needed it. I cannot recommend it highly enough as it also gives an insight into what a very special man he is.
I hope he realises how much he is loved by the people he has touched by sharing his emotions and time with them.
Have a very Happy Birthday Jim. Love Ju
Happy Birthday Jim! Love ya!

Best wishes to you & all your family!
Aw, very nice tribute to a great man. Happy birthday, Jim!
JB posted on his twitter account yesterday, “I am overwhelmed beyond my power to comprehend at the flood of goodwill that has come my way today. Thank you all… ”
For anyone who was following his fans goal of getting 30,000 followers on his b-day, he almost made it, only 383 short. Thanks to everyone who join his Twitter page yesterday! I really think he was impressed.
