The timing of this article couldn’t have been better, for Karen sent me her latest poem about none other than our favorite classic car. So, with pride I present Karen’s “Ode To The Metallicar”

“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring Even if time has gone by, I have still mixed feelings about writing this article. “Don’t Call Me Shurley” was a magnificent episode. If you ask me, it was the finale on which this season should have…
In any filmed story, there are actors that convey that story to the audience. Those actors need not always be human beings. In the season 11 episode “Baby,” the primary actor is none other than the ’67 Chevrolet Impala herself. It is through her lens that we see the story—a day in the life of…
“Get a Room!”By WednesdaySupernatural’s Season 11 Motel RoomsPART TWOBrowsing the SupernaturalWiki site, I noticed that the motel room descriptions stopped after season eight. In an attempt to fill the void and pay tribute to the set designers and location team,I offer this series of articles on SEASONS 9-11. Jerry Wanek, set designers, artists and scouts…
Impala moments: Sam, Dean and the Impala are indelible images from this series. Pick any season and you will find plenty to choose from, I present four that stand out to me, either because they have heavy emotional reveals or brotherly bonding; there are dozens more to choose and by no means do I suggest…
(Didn’t see part one? Go here to find out how Max’s story started: https://www.thewinchesterfamilybusiness.com/article-archives/the-impala/18716-rebuilding-a-classic-impala-from-scratch-one-supernatural-fan-s-story) By October 2013, Max thought he was seeing light at the end of the tunnel, hoping “Black Betty” would be ready for delivery. There was a complication though with the new powerful 396 engine, one that took months to resolve. Max…
Baby. The third main cast member – The Metallicar – The solid rock that has always been there for the Winchesters (except for that silly season seven when she was sidelined). The strong and rugged object that takes her lumps but always comes out on top, all while protecting her boys from all sorts of…
OH! OH!! OH!!!!!
Karen, YOU ARE WONDERFUL. This is beautiful. This is fantastic. You are so talented. Glad you found this site, and Supernatural. Thanks!
Karen,this is really beautiful…
If that gorgeous, sexy car could only talk, what stories would we hear…I loved that line ‘…and her beauty is mesmerizing under the moonlight’… oh, yes.
This car has been wounded and it carries scars, even after being broken down, she’s still standing… much like our favourite Winchesters.
Love, Jas
Karen,
Anyone who can rhyme “Transportation” with “Salvation”
Has my total respect and admiration.
Wow! Karen this is really good! Thank’ for this little piece, you just brighten my day!
Alice I followed the link and saw the video and earing Jensen and Jared talking about the Impala a realized that in real life Jared is the one who knows all about cars! Funny!
Great poem Karen. You said it all and how we all feel about this beloved car. thanks.
If Shakespeare were alive, even he’d bust out a sonnet on the car.
Oh, Karen, again you’re awesome!
This is freaking great, and very true.
Esp. the last line *wibble*
“this matter was resolved and she has put it past her”… xD Love your poems, Karen–thanks!
Hi
Thank you ALL so much for your support of the poem.
With the Impala’s strong fan base I knew I was walking on sacred ground.
So I have to admit I was alittle worried about this one.
I really wanted to make sure I did right by her. Looks like I did ok from the responses.
So thanks again to everyone.
Alice, a special thanks to you for letting me post these here.
