The mid-season final of season 12 – where do we begin? Somehow this episode was equal parts fluff and actionable content, and while LOTUS wasn’t unsatisfying per se, whether it was mid-finale caliber is the question of week. Let’s consider the pieces.

Episode seven was a dark, depressing and flashy look at the gritty underbelly of Hollywood life in the best way as only Supernatural could achieve. Some great venues reinforced a strong atmosphere all around and delivered a deep, gritty episode for us to enjoy.

This week’s episode was written by Bob Berens and focuses on Lucifer’s return. The show begins “one week ago” with a séance by two young men who are conjuring Lucifer.
Sometimes, to better understand or grow the Supernatural universe, we must examine secondary characters center stage. By doing so, we grow closer to the Winchester brothers and learn about another person within their world.
My heart is still recovering from this one. It certainly didn’t set out as a heart breaker or one of those uber-dramatic, memorable Winchester scrapbook moment episodes; but then the episodes that make your breath catch and your stomach clench this early in the game, rarely do.
