What’s Your Supernatural Scene? #18
So once again I have visited my Tupperware container and have pulled four new episodes titles and have put my thoughts to them. What are your thoughts on the following episodes? Is it a scene, a moment, a line or song? And why? It is your favourite or is it the emotional impact it has on you? Maybe it simply makes you laugh or hide under the covers.
The Benders
This episode had a few moments that I always think of. One is when Sheriff Kathleen and Dean are in her police car and she gets the information of the police officer that Dean is portraying. The man is older and black. Another is when Sam is locked in the cage and his reaction when Dean comes into the barn. Sam looked so happy to see Dean. However I have to go with the end scene when Sheriff Kathleen tells Sam and Dean to get going before the authorities come and they start walking back to town. Sam teases Dean âSo you got sideline by a 13 year old girlâ âOh shut upâ I love the banter between these two. (From Alice – Hmm, Sam in a cage…)
I Know What You Did Last Summer
I really loved the flashbacks of Sam and what had happened to him while Dean was in Hell. To finally get a better understanding of what Sam had been going through and how he ended up with Ruby. I also loved him being honest with Dean. I also have to give honourable mention to Sam resetting Deanâs shoulder. His âOn Threeâ before he resets it but actually goes on One was epic.
Swan Song
This is one of those episodes where it is almost impossible to pick just one scene. I love Chuckâs narration of the history of the Impala. Both Castiel and Bobbyâs goodbye to Sam, Castiel was so awkward. And Samâs last look to his brother before diving into the pit. But I think Iâm going to have to go with the opening when Dean tells Sam that he will go with Samâs plan to say yes to Lucifer. Dean: Iâm in, the whole up with Satan thing, Iâm onboard. Sam: Youâre gonna let me say yes? Dean: No, thatâs the thing, itâs not on me to let you do anything. Youâre a grown, overgrown man, if this is what you want, Iâll back your play. Sam: Thatâs the last thing I thought youâd ever say. Dean: Might be. Iâm not gonna lie to you, though it goes against every fiber I got, the truth is, watching out for you itâs kinda been my job, you know, but more that itâs kinda who I am. Youâre not a kid anymore Sam and I canât keep treating you like one. Maybe I got to grow up a little too. I dunno if we got a snowballâs chance, but I do know if anybody can do it, itâs you. Sam: Thank-you Dean: If this is what you want. (Dean turns and looks directly at Sam) is this really what you want? Sam: I let him out. I gotta put him back in. Dean: Okay, thatâs it then.
With this episode I have to go with the first couple of scenes with Sam and Dean. Week One: Seeing both brothers at Rufusâs cabin sitting in silence, Dean on the couch and Sam on the chair, not moving or talking just staring at nothing, both still in a state of shock. Then Sam looks over to Dean like he wanted to say something but changes his mind and looks away. Seconds later Dean looks over at Sam but remains silent. When I first saw this one scene I had to stop the show and rewind in order to believe what I was seeing. When that little light bulb in my head clicked on and I realize that they had killed off Bobby, I was devastated.
Week Two: Dean is sitting at the table taking a drink of hard liquor and stewing over the pad of paper with the numbers that Bobby had given them in his final moments. Meanwhile Sam is cleaning up the kitchen and finds Bobbyâs journal in the drawer. He opens to the first page and sees a list of people and their numbers, not sure what to do. Then back to Dean looking over the list of crossed off possibilities of what the numbers could represent. Week Three: Dean adding a newspaper clipping to his wall colleague of articles on Dick Roman. Meanwhile Sam comes in with two duffle bags and places them on the kitchen table he then goes to the fridge for a beer. It is now we finally have dialog between the brothers. Although I was totally pissed at the show for killing Bobby, I loved the time lapse on how the brothers were both dealing with Bobbyâs death.
Your turn! What’s your favorite “Supernatural” scene for these episodes?
Benders beginning to end
IKWYDLS hot Sam and Ruby scene…hmmm…do you think something might have been going on there?
Swan Song crying from beginning to end.

Adventures in Babysitting actually it was a deleted scene when Sam went out to the trunk of Bobby’s car and found the photo of him and Dean. Why that was cut I have no idea, it was so sad.

Agreed, but I’d add Chuck’s “Endings are hard.” Your suggestion for Swan Song is what made “Road Trip” and “First Born” so hard to watch. “The Benders” has always been one of my least favorite episodes ever–except the banter! đ
…still missing Dean’s leather jacket…oh well

The Benders – Itâs a tossup between Missy coming out onto the front porch and looking at the picture of Sam that Kathleen hands to her (Iâm always baffled by her shoes, theyâre so funky, I want a pair) and her facial expressions are SO creepy. And Dean sneaking through the house looking for the key while Daddy Bender saws things up in the kitchen and listens to an old record player. So CREEPY!
I Know What You Did Last Summer â Horribly, the first thing that comes to mind is Sam, smashed drunk, crying, sweating, and basically in the worst place of his life up to that point, desperately clawing a dinky hole in the ground just deep enough to cover over the summoning items. Also the showdown with Alastair in the church comes to mind.
Swan Song â What can I say about an episode that turned me inside out and shredded me into confetti? The first thing I think of is Dean arguing with Michael and Lucifer in the cemetery. My favorite scene is probably the five years of flashbacks juxtaposed with the blowing wind. The most terrifying moment was when Sam advances on Luciferâs building, yelling at the demons from the street, and they haul the boys up to Luciferâs room. Dean trying desperately to rally Castiel and Bobby and seeing the two of them shut down was among the most hopeless scenes. I held my breath the most when Sam and Lucifer were arguing between broken mirrors in the theatre (or whatever that building was). My biggest freak-out moment was during Luciferâs beat-down on Dean. My second biggest freak-out was Cas and Bobbyâs deaths. The scene where I busted out crying was when LuciferSam disappears from his room and Dean grabs his head as he looks around, utterly beside himself, with tears in his eyes. The second time I busted out crying was between Cas and Dean in the alley: âThe only thing youâre going to see out there is Michael killing your brother.â âWell then I ainât gonna let him die alone.â I could go on and on with this. I should shut up.
Adventures in Babysitting â I think of when Krissy has the gun on Dean, and we see a crack in her tough exterior. âMy dad left. And he didnât come back. Sam leaves. And he didnât come back. I let you leave, you donât come back.â

Let’s not forget when Sam has to kill Madison b/c at that point they had never seen the possibilities a la Bitten or Garth. On equal par, when Crowley kills Sarah ins s8, – took me back to the first time Sam fell for a girl after Jess’s death. There are so many. I have Dean scenes too. Often current ones bring me back to an older episode. What a body of work.
