"Freaks and Geeks" was directed by John Showalter, and there are some great visuals in this episode. Come and take a look!
1.
This was a really cool location. So romantic for making out, too. Not really, but I'm guessing there probably isn't much to do in that part of Kansas. No offense to Kansas.
2.
This show just made me wonder if Sam and Dean get a little nervous going into police departments still or if they are just so used to it they don't care. I mean, I have never done anything wrong my entire life, and I get nervous when I see a cop.
3.
I like the framing on this shot, through the hallway. And Sam's "serious FBI head lean-in" is great.
4.
Baby just looks kind of pretty in this shot. Also, Dean should never wear a white dress shirt again. That gray ensemble was fantastic.
5.
I like this shot a lot, but I'm calling foul on her using her real name on the college I.D. Really? You'd think Victor would have taught them better than that.
6.
Here's another really well-framed shot through a hallway.
7.
Oh, hey there, brooding Dean in the shadows. Don't mind if I do.
8.
It's too bad that power line is running through the shot, but that can't be helped. This is a really cool house. And it comes with its own smoke machine!
9.
I don't know why, but this shot of Sam and Dean barely peeking over the hedge delights me. It looks like they're getting swallowed by shrubbery. Nih!
10.
Sam looks SO hilarious here. "Okay, Sam, play it cool. Play it cool. Blend in. How would a suburbanite act?"
11.
Baaaaaaaaby, look how pretty you look under the streaming lights and the trees and the fog.
12.
Dean in the mirror is a great shot. Really neat. And very effective.
13.
This is in here because in all these years the show has been on the air, I never noticed until this shot that the side mirrors on baby have a Chevy logo on the back of them.
14.
This is the opposite of the Dean in shadows shot. It's Sam in the light. Which, considering their histories is kind of a neat juxtoposition. Also, as a random aside, I accidentally typed "Deran" instead of "Dean" and it made me realize how awful it would have been if his name was Deran. Deran is a fine name, that's not what I mean, but it just sounds wrong.
15.
Baby in ths woods! The Lodge set was very moody and atmospheric. Glad that wasn't shot at night, though, because it would have been terrifying.
16.
Seriously, look at this place! So creepy.
17.
Sam is 1000% done with this shit.
18.
Don't mind the giant bloodstain on the wall, miss vampire. We'll get you healed up in no time. What? No, there aren't any other rooms in the house we can use instead of giant bloodstain room. Why do you ask?
And there we have it! This was a good-looking episode, wasn't it? What did you think of the visuals?
Comments
As for Dean in gray, I was thinking the same thing when I was rewatching for the upteenth time. It was nice to see him in a different shade than white and I also noticed that for Sam last episode when he had a light blue I think it was. I'll have to go back and verify that one. Of course I also agree with Grace232 that that man looks good no matter what color or outfit he is wearing (or not wearing for that matter). Sorry had to throw that one in.
That Lodge scene could be anywhere USA that has trees and greenery. I grew up in PA and can recall visiting someone that had a driveway that went way through the woods like that but the house it opened up to was no where near as creepy looking as this one did.
I wasn't thrilled with this episodes, so your visuals lends me a bit of enjoyment in it that I didn't get from watching.
Great choice of pictures. I love the contrast pics of Sam and Dean however my favourites are #8, I really like that house and #15 I have been down many a country road like that from years of camping.
And yeah, creepy is creepy with some location shots.
THE BLOOD STAIN~~ WHERE IS THE BODY? WHOSE GOING TO PAY THE BILLS? THE KIDS, OK, BUT THE HOUSE IS IN WHOSE NAME? WAS HE INDEPENDENTLY WEALTHY OR ON PENSION? THEY CAN PROBABLY PULL IT OFF UNTIL JOSEPHINE MAKES 18 THEN WHAT? REPORT HIM MISSING? THE NEIGHBORS OR MAIL MAN OR GARDENER SOMEBODY HAS GOT TO MISS THE BLACK EYED CREEP VICTOR. HAVE YALL NOTICED HIS EYES REALLY ARE DEMONIC BLACK IN REAL LIFE?
I WAS 18 WHEN MY MOTHER DIED SO I KNOW OF WHAT I SPEAK. HOPE VICTOR LEFT THEM THE HOUSE OR THEY CAN FORGE PAPERWORK. JUST SAYING
The visuals of this episode were great and Serge LaDouceour has made the best of his locations all season. I agree, he is quite a genius at what he does.
I also have never noticed the logo on the mirrors. That's pretty cool.
That note you made about spelling Dean's name wrong reminded me of a conversation between fans a while ago about Dean Moriarty and Sal Paradise, the chracters Sam and Dean were kinda named after from On The Road. We were all talking about how glad we were that Kripke used Sam instead of Sal, because it would have been weird to have Dean calling him Sally all these years!
