To boost the spirits of the Supernatural cast during filming, pass on some fun messages during the the final year of Supernatural, and as a gift to fans who were missing the show, a member of the SPNFamily, Kas (Capt_FrightNite on Twitter), reached out to cast members of Supernatural during COVID lockdown to request Cameo video messages for Team Free Will 2.0 - Sam, Dean, Castiel, and Jack.
Some of the show's favorite characters sent along messages and they are a real treat!
COVID19 delayed many of the messages from getting out sooner, but this week, the filmed Cameo's are starting to appear. There are quite a few. The first is from Sully (Nate Torrence 11.08 'Just My Imagination') to Sam.
Jared Padalecki joined Michael Rosenbaum for a second time on his podcast Inside of You this past week. Jared was two days into shooting the final episodes of Supernatural. Wrapped up in a sauna blanket cocoon, Jared got cozy with Rosenbaum about memories of his dog Sadie, social media, being Sam Winchester, his own mental health, and hints at the final scene of the series. (no big reveals).
He first talked about what it was like to quarantine in his Vancouver apartment, taking COVID19 seriously, and how any breach of quarantine - including taking his dog, Koda, for a walk - could have set back filming . This quickly became a lively chat about dogs, with Jared sharing memories of Sadie, his dog since 2003, travelling with him from set to set until he had to let her go. Michael then shared Jared's Instagram post from the final days of filming and asked Jared to explain what "Supernatural Never Dies" means to him (the fandom or the story). This led to a discussion about connecting on social media, and Jared admitting he is "bad at email and social media" and likes to be present in the moment. He talked about spending time with his children and Gen during lockdown, newfound respect for Gen after fathering during quarantine, and what it was like being home in Austin.
Jensen Ackles joined Michael Rosenbaum for a second time on his podcast Inside of You this past week. Talking together during Jensen's quarantine in Vancouver, Jensen shared some revelations about the show, its final episodes, and some much needed encouraging predictions for the future of Sam and Dean Winchester. It was a sorely needed bright spot in the week leading up to the last day of filming Supernatural!
Thursday, September 10 was a marathon of emotions as the SPNFamily waited to hear news from the set of Supernatural on its last day of filming. Beginning Wednesday night and continuing into the wee hours of Friday morning, The WFB captured farewells and best wishes from countless actors, writers, directors and entertainment industry affiliates whose lives had been touched by the show's 15 year record-breaking run. Their gratitude gives testimony to the show's legacy:
The cast and crew are still saying their good-byes on this last day of filming Supernatural.
#ThankYouSupernatural is trending on Twitter all over the world as so many send messages about what Supernatural means to them. We captured the cast and creative teams' goodbyes from last night and earlier today in "First Shot of the Day: Supernatural Family Starts to Say Goodbye." The importance of this day continues to prompt an outpouring of love, though.
After a record breaking 15 years, today, September 10, 2020, is the last day of filming Supernatural. The set is dismantled, props sorted and put away, and Baby gets parked before going home with Jensen (Baby's twin sister is going home with Jared). The cast, crew and creative team have begun saying goodbye, knowing that the real tears will come later in the day when someone on the set yells, "That's a series wrap!"
