Article Index

This week I have a treat for you. We have a mini-hellatus and I have fallen behind with the fan video of the week articles, so instead of one video this week, I have for you a video and commentary for all the episodes I have missed this season! There will also be few surprises on how I picked the videos!

In Part 1 of the Fan Video Ultimate Edition, I covered:

11.03 "The Bad Seed"
11.04 "Baby"

In Part 2,
I will cover:

11.05 "Thin Lizzie"
11.06 "Our Little World"
11.07 "Plush"

I am also honored to share the work of a fan artist that I found. She has graciously given me permission to feature her art on the fan video articles! FIGHT THE FAIRIES! @Alice_Mars_Mann does a poster for the episodes that have aired and as fan art is the theme of my articles, it is fitting to present her art with the videos. Her instagram.

Thin Lizzie

“Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.” - Kahlil Gibran

For Thin Lizzie I chose to find a song that has the word soul. I found a Supernatural fan video that used the song “Soul of a Man”. I chose soul because soul and soullessness were the themes in this episode and the case. In Supernatural souls are valuable, strong and powerful. The good and bad guys both know it. They have even fought to have them against one another. So it is no surprise that one of the oldest beings uses their power too. Also Amara’s bond to Dean lifted its ugly head in this episode so it is fitting that the fan video focuses on Dean. The song is pretty great too.

Description for the word soul, noun:

1. the principle of life, feeling, thought, and action in humans, regarded as a distinct entity separate from the body, and commonly held to be separable in existence from the body; the spiritual part of humans as distinct from the physical part.
2. the spiritual part of humans regarded in its moral aspect, or as believed to survive death and be subject to happiness or misery in a life to come: arguing the immortality of the soul.
3. the disembodied spirit of a deceased person: He feared the soul of the deceased would haunt him.
4. the emotional part of human nature; the seat of the feelings or sentiments.
5. a human being; person.
6. high-mindedness; noble warmth of feeling, spirit or courage, etc.
7. the animating principle; the essential element or part of something.
8. the inspirer or moving spirit of some action, movement, etc.
9. the embodiment of some quality: He was the very soul of tact.
10. (initial capital letter) Christian Science. God; the divine source of all identity and individuality.

Dean Winchester | Soul of a Man made by: xXAngelVSDevil

Soul of a Man by Steven Stern

Won't somebody tell me, answer if you can
I want someone to tell me, what is the soul of a man
I'm going to ask a question, answer if you can
Will anyone here tell me, what is the soul of a man

I want someone to tell me, answer if you can
I want someone to tell me, what is the soul of a man
I've traveled different countries, I've traveled in furthest lands
I haven't found one to tell me, what is the soul of a man

I want someone to tell me, answer if you can
I want someone to tell me, what is the soul of a man

(want someone to tell me
ooo somebody to tell me)

I read the bible often, I tried to read it right
As far as I can understand, a man is more than his mind

When Christ stood in the temple, the people all stood amazed
He was teaching lawyers and doctors, how to raise a man from the grave
I want someone to tell me, answer if you can
I want someone to tell me, what is the soul of a man

I need someone to tell me, please answer if you can
I want someone to tell me, what is the soul of a man

what is the soul of a man
what is the soul of a man

Quotes:

Sydney: The Darkness is coming, it's so peaceful. It's coming for all of us.
Sam: You know I get this, like, pit in my stomach anytime I think of her -- the Darkness. I think we only know the tip of what she is, what she does to people. You know Len was freaked out by her, but Sydney -- Sydney couldn't get enough. The bliss she was talking about, you know? What was it like for you? Did you feel like that with Amara?
Dean: No. Nah, I mean it was quiet, you know, until she started hatching killers and rallying monsters to raise armies.
Sam: So that's how we have to find her, huh? Follow the bodies?
Dean: You got a better idea? We could follow the crazy you been seeing. With the rate Amara's growing, sucking souls and gettin' stronger, she may not be that hard to find.

Our Little World

“On the unconscious level, touch seems to impart a subliminal sense of caring and connection.” - Leonard Mlodinow

From her first scene Amara’s character made me curious. She is mystical and we still don’t know how powerful she is and all the backstory she has. How her character has grown from baby to teenager and that we have seen the different versions of her character is pretty cool in my opinion. Her and Dean’s bond gives me the chills and it feels really dangerous for me and more for Dean. So, I found two really atmospheric Amara videos and decided to show both of them. I also like the coloring and the music. Dean’s and Amara’s connection is ever present.

Dean & Amara (SPN) | And the World was gone made by: strawberryhachiko

And The World Was Gone by Snow Ghosts

You said you'd wait forever
But I blinked
And the world was gone
You wade through the water
Slowly your hands grow numb
I wish you felt me falling
I wish you'd watched over me
You said you'd wait forever
But I blinked
And the world was gone
And the world was gone
And the world was gone

I run through your head
Loud with a nightmare
Brushing your skin with my breathing
Turn out the light
And every nightlight
Run you can run you can run
I blink and the world was gone
I blink and the world was gone
I blink and the world was gone

You said you'd wait forever
But I blinked
And the world was gone
You wade through the water
Slowly your hands grow numb
I wish you felt me falling
I wish you'd watch over me
You said you'd wait forever
But I blinked
And the world was gone
And the world was gone
And the world was gone

Sam: Guys. Bigger fish to fry here. Amara's in the wind.Dean: Yeah, God's frickin' sister.Castiel: You said you were close. Dean, how'd she get away?Dean: I'm sorry, what part of God's frickin' sister didn't you understand? She overpowered me, end of story. What's our plan here, fellas? You said you got everything you could out of Metatron, right? So where on Earth are we gonna find an answer on how to stop her? I don't suppose God's decided to share some wisdom on the matter?Sam: I'll look into the lore.

“Fear keeps us focused on the past or worried about the future. If we can acknowledge our fear, we can realize that right now we are okay. Right now, today, we are still alive, and our bodies are working marvelously. Our eyes can still see the beautiful sky. Our ears can still hear the voices of our loved ones.” - Thich Nhat Hanh

Well, well, well, on this episode you will be surprised on the idea that I used to find a video. That creepy bunny head that was used first on the episode. So here is where you ask why? It is actually not that long of a story. One of my hobbies is playing computer and console games so I am a gamer girl. When I was younger one of my favorite games were Silent Hill. It is a horror game that doesn’t count only for jumpy scared but creepy psychological horror. In horror scale it wins Supernatural by a mile. It is not for weak hearted so bare that in mind when checking the lower videos about the game and its world.

So, what has that got to do with the bloody creepy bunny head? The whole costume has been on the Silent Hill games and if you thought that it was scary in Supernatural. You have seen nothing yet. I also found Supernatural fan video that had the music of the game and was made totally black and white. Playing a game is even worse than a horror movie because you are part of the world with the main character. I hope these videos won’t scare you away. If Supernatural would have same horror world than Silent Hill it would be great but probably way too scary for most of the viewers. But we did get the creepy bunny!

You're Not Here by Akira Yamaoka
(lyrics)

Blue sky to forever
The green grass blows in the wind, dancing
It would be a much better sight with you, with me
If you hadn't met me, I'd be fine on my own, baby
Never felt so lonely, then you came along

So now what should I do,
I'm strung out, addicted to you
My body aches, now that you're gone
My supply fell trough

Gladly gave me everything you had and more
You craved my happiness
When you made me feel joy it made you smile
But now I feel your stress
Love was never meant to be such a crazy afair, no
And who has time for tears
Never thought I'd sit around and cry for your love
'Till now

Silent Hill is a Japanese horror franchise created by Keiichiro Toyama and published by Konami and its subsidiary Konami Digital Entertainment. The first four survival horror video games in the series, Silent Hill, 2, 3, and 4: The Room, were developed by an internal group called Team Silent, a development staff within former Konami subsidiary Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo. The later five games, Origins, Homecoming, Shattered Memories, Downpour and Book of Memories, were developed by other unrelated groups. The Silent Hill franchise has expanded to include various print pieces, two feature films, and spin-off video games.

Silent Hill is set in the series' eponymous fictitious American town. The series is heavily influenced by the literary genre of psychological horror, with its player characters being mostly "everymen". By contrast, other horror-themed games use a stronger protagonist through character back story or direct game mechanics (more weapons, heavier emphasis on combat), as is the case in Resident Evil.

Quotes:

Dean: I thought we talked about this.
Sam: Yeah, we did, Dean. But why's it so hard to believe God could be sending me visions about the Darkness?
Dean: You kidding me? He didn't feel the need to show up for the Apocalypse, why would He give a crap now?
Sam: I keep praying to God because if it is God, and I know you think it isn't, but if it is, He's showing me something I don't know what to do with.
Dean: What?
Sam: The Cage.
Dean: Lucifer's Cage?
Sam: Yeah. What if He's telling me I have to go back, what if He's saying that's where the answer is to defeating the Darkness?
Dean: Sam, no. No, okay? I don't know if these visions are coming from God or PBS or what. But we been down that road. Anything having to do with that cage is-it's suicide, you of all people know that. So no. Just... not gonna happen.

I liked the soul of a man video. I'm a Sam girl and sometimes I forget how much pain Dean has also gone through. The silent hill stuff is too much for me, though I would like Supernatural to be a little scarier sometimes. My adult daughter thinks the Zelda games are too scary, I tease her about that. Thanks for making me even more scared of bunnies.

Well, I am leaning towards Dean, but both men for me have had very tragic life. Most of all I would want to give them a great big hug and say everything would be okay. :)

If Zelda scares her don't show her the Silent Hill pictures! And don't know if it is a compliment or is it? When you say I made you more scared about the bunny. But I understand completely! I was actually more scared just because I remembered it from the game. Very creepy. :o
