The season (but hopefully not series) finale of The Winchesters is among us.  We've been trying to unpack all season what's been happening and we've...gotten nowhere.  Will we finally get answers?  Will the results be satisfying or will be left with more questions than answers?  Will they really piss us off and end with an unsatisfying cliffhanger that potentially will never be resolved?  They wouldn't be that mean, would they?  WOULD THEY????

The title of the season finale, episode 1.13, is "Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye."  That is the title of a Leonard Cohen song, and a rather odd choice if you ask me.  It's about a breakup of a relationship that felt like love but was never meant to be.  Not sure how that ties into the epic love story of John and Mary Winchester, but it is what it is.

SEASON FINALE – John (Drake Rodger) receives a message from a mysterious stranger. Meanwhile, Carlos (Jojo Fleites), Latika (Nida Khurshid) and Ada (Demetria McKinney) work together to find answers, but time is running out. Lastly, Mary (Meg Donnelly) and John have a warm but awkward reunion. There is a lot to unpack, but they realize this isn’t the time or place. John Showalter directed the episode written by Robbie Thompson (#113). Original airdate 3/7/2023.

There are three preview photos, all featuring our six players in this adventure, John, Mary, Carlos, Lata, Millie and Ada.  Not a bug to be seen anywhere.

Here is the promo that aired after the last episode.  I swear I saw Samuel Campbell in there somewhere!  I need Tom Welling in the finale!

The question on everyone's mind is, "Will there be a season two?"  The answer is, maybe?  The big question is will it be on The CW?  That's where I think the prospects are more doubtful.  Judging by the cancellations and the direction the network is hinting, I wouldn't cast my bet on any sci-fi/genre shows being renewed.  The show I see with the greatest prospects is a family drama like Walker, one that gets reliable ratings.  Although, The Winchesters does well in online and delayed viewing, boosting the prospects for the CW online app.  That medium is important to Nexstar too, but the show has to be able to make them money with that online presence.  That means reduced license fee, and I'm not sure if WBTV is willing to go there.  They aren't exactly fond of eating extra costs right now.  The best prospect is the show gets sold to a streaming service.  I'm sure that Jensen and Danneel's Chaos Machine Productions has a Plan B in mind, but what that is, no one has been saying.  If it does go that route, it might be a long time before we see another episode.  So cherish this finale well.

What do you think?  Do you want a season two?  Or, are you like me and none of that matters until we find out why all of this is happening?  What reality are we in?  WHY DOES NONE OF THIS MAKE SENSE???  Sorry, I digress.  Anyway, feel free to speculate.  Come here after the episode is done and share all your feelings about the episode, any reveals that may or may not have happened, and the season itself.
