We have another episode tomorrow, entitled "The Purge". This is the last episode before the mini-hiatus during the Olympics. Personally, I'd rather watch Supernatural over the Olympics, but I'm not the average viewer, so we get this break.

On to what we know.

9.13 - "The Purge" Synopsis

SAM AND DEAN GO UNDERCOVER AT A SPA --- Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate recent murders where the victims were hundreds of pounds lighter after their deaths.  Suspecting witches, the two go undercover at a fancy day spa that all of the victims had attended for weight loss.  While Sam is hired as a fitness instructor, Dean takes kitchen duty.  After Dean swipes some tainted food and passes out, the guys realize someone is drugging the guests and literally sucking all of the fat out of them until they die.  Phil Sgriccia directed the episode written by Eric Charmelo & Nicole Snyder (912).

Then we have the promo.

This starts as a chirpy ad for the weight loss spa and segues into Sam and Dean noting that a client went from 300 lbs to 90 lbs overnight. We also get a glimpse of Sam in a really nice tank top and shorts and Dean in a hairnet because he is acting as a cook for the spa.

We have a sneak preview as well.

A perky female cop, sporting a Minnesota accent straight of of Fargo fills Sam and Dean in on the case. A competitive eater has died as if all the fat had been “hoovered” out of him. The cop and Dean scarf down donuts. This looks like a fun scene.

Then, of course, there are the promo pics. There are several of Sam looking suitably hot while coaching clients and doing yoga. Dean cooking in his hairnet. Sam confronting one of the other cooks and an unidentified guest star pushing another unidentified guest star in a wheel chair.

So what speculation do I have? This seems to be a stand alone episode that is being marketed as upbeat and cheery. But so was last week's, and who would have guessed that an episode about Garth being a werewolf would end up causing huge discussions in the fandom about the brotherly relationship? Dean becoming sick due to the food at the spa may lead to Sam trying to save his life and begin the reconciliation process between the brothers. This could go several ways, either Sam understands Dean's desperation to save him at the church or Dean is forced decide if there is a price he doesn't want to pay to be saved. Either of these would send us into mini-hiatus on an upswing for the brotherly relationship. This could also just be a cute filler episode with Sam and Dean working together, but not getting any closer to working out their differences. We will know tomorrow night.

The CHCH promo is up

Dean is telling Sam they do kill monsters. Sam reminds Dean he was ready to die, so we may get some insight on Sam's feelings, or not. Any way, just a few more hours.
