2. A Plaid Shirt

Plaid shirts are such a good look on Dean.   He really should wear them at all possible times.  Plaid ranks so highly as a Dean look for me because it's understated and comfortable, casual but still nice.  I like Dean when he relaxes and can just be for a bit, and plaid makes me think of that.  Of his plaid shirts, my favorites are the purple plaid of emotion...



...the brown plaid from "Nightshifter"...



...and my new favorite, this blue one that showed up in "Time After Time"...



Speaking of "Time After Time," my number-one thing Dean shoul wear on his birthday is...

1. 40's Apparel



That suit is hot.  Pocket square!  Wide tie!  Waistcoat!  Tie pin! (You can't see it in this shot, but it's there, trust me.)  Combine that with some period-appropriate parted hair and you've got a winner.  But that's not all!



No, we get a killer fedora and overcoat, too!  A+ to this outfit.  I mean, I dare Dean to look hotter right now.



Meep.

Also, Dean, keep your hair this length because it's been looking great this season.  Definitely digging it grown out a bit. 

Well, there you have it.  That's my list of things Dean should wear on his birthday.  Did I miss any of your favorites?  Am I crazy for not liking the leather jacket?  I'll admit, begrudgingly, to missing it a bit now that it's gone.  And if you want to watch a couple episodes where Dean is in full sartorial splendor, I would suggest the following two: "Nightshifter," where you'll get FBI Dean with long overcoat, electrician's jumpsuit, the brown plaid, and the SWAT gear; and "Time After Time," where you'll get the blue plaid, longer hair, deconstructed FBI Dean in rolled-up shirtsleeves and loosened tie, the military-style brown canvas jacket, and my number-one, the 40's wear, with shoulder holster and Tommy Gun and bonus Eliot Ness.  Sounds like a nice evening to me.

My vote was for jeans.....JUST jeans. Really he and Sam could do every episode in Just jeans....and I would not mind.

I still can't decide if I prefer a stetson or fedora on him, so hot in both hats....
Time After Time really was a treat for all the hot looks!
I definitely like the slightly longer hair this season too!

I'm with jonea33 on this one, who says he needs to wear a shirt at all? It's his birthday so if he doesn't mind running around without one I for one will not be complaining. :lol:

Absolutely jonea33, I think we all agree with this one...why wear shirts at all? However, a henley with a thigh holster and Dean's slightly longer hair....excuse me, I'm just picking myself up off the floor.

That was fantastic! I felt like it was MY birthday. (Oh what a present that would be... To have Dean jump out of my birthday cake.. It ain't the candles raising the temperature! Smokin'...)

But I digress. I love all your splendid sartorial choices. I would add one more - the blue jumpsuit from MTNB. Thud!

However, I must confess -- the slouching against the Impala and the thigh holster get me every time. And the tux. And the 40's gear... Okay, I'm just repeating you.

But, there is one more. If he could just figure out a way to wear a sniper-rifle-po ised-next-to-hi s-face-in-perfe ct-lighting at all times, I would be a happy camper.

And speaking of camping, I say again.. Why, oh why, can't the boys have a summer moment, by a lovely lake, and be wearing nothing but their surf shorts?!! C'mon. They have to hunt near the beach sometimes!

I love all your choices. I also like Pragmatic Dreamer's idea of a summer attire episode. Camping or the Beach...Yes, that is definitely past due!!! Dean and Sam wearing shorts...no shirts. Yep, that would be a must-see episode in my book..and....Wh o cares what the story is about? I'll just keep hitting the repeat button on my DVR to see the lovely view and try not to drool too much. Oh my. ;-)

I totally agree that Dean's longer hair this season and the brown canvas coat are really hot. Did anyone else ever see a video on Youtube of a recent con where Jensen showed up in a butter soft grey leather jacket and when he took that off displayed a grey heather henley sweater that clung to every muscle? Seriously, I still wake up sometimes in the middle of the night thinking about that outfit. While Jensen looks good in whatever he wears, that outfit was completely sinful for the thoughts it inspires!

HE REALLY MUST DO A LOT OF UPPERBODY STUFF. HIS BICEPS REMINDS ME OF CHRIS PINES FROM STAR TREK & UNSTOPPABLE.

Mind you those that suggested the camping and beach attire works for me too. :oops:

I love all your choices, but I do love me a man in uniform, whether it be FBI or everyday man. That blue jumpsuit in "Meet the New Boss", thud! And the "costume" that Frank made him wear, I would be glued to my window if I saw a lineman looking like that. All good choices, but then again the guy looks good in everything. We don't see t-shirts too much, I guess it's a little chilly in Vancouver, but I'm always happy to see either one of these guys wearing one.

Thanks for the gorgeous pictures. Is it Feb. 3 yet? We get to see shirtless Dean in that one. Something to look forward to. Shallow, I know.

Although, your number 10 would be my number 1. Just love the cocky Dean in that leather jacket with the upturned collar. So badass! :P

I'd also add his jewelry back.

Camping with shorts is also a great image to dream of. Hmmmm! :zzz

As much as I adored Dean in the 40s attire, and as much as a plaid and a simple t-shirt, makes me melt, a henley under either the leather jacket or a canvas coat with the thigh holster, and I feel like I could start panting. I would also have no problem if he wore no shirt, while fixing the Impala. But keep the thigh holster.

I have to agree with you, Ardeospina, about the leather jacket. I am mad that someone stole it, may they be tortured by Alastair, but I am glad that it is gone, I think that leather jackets should only be black, not brown.

Dean looks cool leaning against the Impala, no matter what he is or is not wearing. :lol:

Is this list limited to only clothes???

Hahaha. Fun article and yes, his hair is much better this season. Don't know why they had it so short last year.

I definitely like the 40's attire the best, but the tux runs a close second!

Oh Ardeospina, thank you thank you for dissing the leather jacket. Not my favorite either. But I think it was him literally walking a mile - or 1000 - in his dad's jacket and later we get him coming into his own. That black jacket? Super sexy. One of my favorite screensavers at work is him in the black jacket sitting on top of the Impala. Sigh.

And speaking of sexy, I just rewatched all of season one and he wears a red shirt in that season. Maybe more like maroon? He looks good in that color too. Really, really good. Did I mention he looks good?

Love your choices. I pretty much welcome anything that shows his shape. The man is just beautiful.
