Caption This! #404 – Page Not Found Edition!
Nate cleverly pointed out something to me last week after he put up the Caption This! #403 contest. The next one would be #404, a game very appropriate for web site admins who work in the IT world like us. After all, what admin hasn’t felt the pain of the dreaded “Page Not Found”, aka 404 error? Before I get into the crux of this week’s contest though, let’s announce the winner from last week’s contest.
There was one obvious choice for me, a reference from one of my absolute favorite Supernatural episodes, “Tall Tales.” It’s ideal for this “The French Mistake” screencap. Congrats cheryl42!
Now for this week’s contest. I sought some creative inspiration from the dreaded “Page Not Found” error. A lot of sites, like ours, have plain, boring errors when a page isn’t found. I mean how sad is this? (Mental note, I need to come up with something better)
There are a lot of sites however that get downright creative when telling you that the url you just executed in your browser is total garbage. I tried to find inspiration for this contest by looking at the more creative errors. Here’s a The Matrix inspired one, which I thought was really cool but didn’t do much for me in terms of ideas.
Then I saw this Star Wars one. It hits a bit more close to home as the “These aren’t droids you are looking for,” reference was used in “Simon Said”:
However, I was looking for something a little more than that one quick scene with Andy for a special contest! Ultimately, my inspiration for this week’s challenge came from Homer Simpson, the king of the face palm, which is a common reaction when the dreaded 404 error happens…
For this week’s captions, ala Homer Simpson, here are two classic face palms from Sam and Dean!
The first comes from season 5’s “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid”:
The second comes from season 13’s “Patience” (I did a lot of face palming during that episode!):
You aren’t limited to the theme of the contest, go ahead, come up with anything for two fine face palms like this. There has to be something that comes to mind! When coming up with captions this time, you can do one caption for both, or caption each individually. If the winner happens to be one caption for both, we’ll combine these two into one screen cap. Either way, I’m hoping that once again you all will have fun with me doing another off the wall format! Of course I’m again making this harder for Nate in showing a winner next week, but I’m sure he’ll appreciate the spirit of the contest. 🙂
