Updated – Jared Padalecki Joins Fire Country for Multiple Episode Arc
We’ve had a lot of great news about new projects for Jensen lately, so here’s a big one for Jared! He, like Jensen for Tracker, will be guesting on a CBS series. He has booked a role in Fire Country for a three episode arc next season. Here’s the details of Jared’s character according to Deadline:
He will play Camden, a SoCal firefighter and maverick with a surfer swagger who is a force to be reckoned with and immediately recognizes Bode’s (Thieriot) raw talent.
Nellie Andreeva, who broke the news, also shared a very enticing tidbit about this possibly leading to a new gig for Jared.
The deal with Fire Country producer CBS Studios is strictly for the recurring role, sources said. Given Padalecki’s status as a popular leading man with two hit series under his belt, I hear there is a possibility for the guest stint to lead to a new spinoff headlined by him that would join the upcoming Sheriff Country.
I’m sure a lot of that potential spinoff will hinge on how well received his appearance is received in Fire Country. This is a golden opportunity though for CBS to take advantage of an available popular leading man (take that hint CW), and CBS does have a successful history of building franchises off a successful series. Still, the story stresses this is all in the very early stages. Fingers crossed this ends up being a meaty role for him.
Updated 8/14: Here’s an article from TV Insider quoting Fire Country Executive Producer Tia Napolitano about Jared’s guest stint:
“We’re so excited,” executive producer Tia Napolitano tells TV Insider. “The part was written for Jared, very specifically. Jared and Max are buddies, so that helped.”
