Jensen Ackles to Lead “The Boys” Prequel
Big news from San Diego Comic-Con! During The Boys Hall H panel on Friday, Jensen surprised fans by dropping in to announce his return to The Boys universe to lead a spin-off prequel, Vought Rising. Jensen will reprise his role as Soldier Boy, with Aya Cash by his side as Stormfront.
Set in New York in the 1950, fans can expect Vought Rising to provide more backstory on Soldier Boy and his rise to fame. Prime Video’s Press Release provided further details:
We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys. It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.
– Executive Producer Eric Kripke and Series Showrunner and Executive Producer Paul Grellong.
Jensen categorized the story as a “lurid pulp saga prequel” during his Comic-Con appearance. As a follow-on to his cameo in last week’s Season 4 finale, Jensen also confirmed he will be returning for The Boys’ fifth and final season.
Jensen and Aya will be producers on the series. Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, and Michaela Starr also serve as executive producers on the series.
