7.14 - Plucky Pennywhistle's Magical Menagerie
7.14 - Plucky Pennywhistle's Magical Menagerie
CLOWNS, UNICORNS AND SHARKS, OH MY!— Sam (Jared Padalecki) is forced to confront a childhood fear when a case takes him and Dean (Jensen Ackles) to Kansas to investigate Plucky Pennywhistle’s Magical Menagerie, a local pizza chain that hosts children’s birthday parties. Sam and Dean discover that the victims’ children had recently been to the restaurant and drawn a picture of their worst fear, which then came to life to kill their parent. While Dean confronts the man behind the magic, Sam is left to deal with some very angry clowns.
Mike Rohl directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb & Daniel Loflin.

Comments
They seem to be separating them in almost every ep;
- Dean goes to 1944 while Sam tries to rescue him
- Sam saves a girl while Dean pursues Dick Roman
- Sam goes after his childhood friend while Dean has a broken leg
- Dean goes to a bar and gets laid while Sam follows the case (could apply to Slice Girls and DYL)
And so ...
Too much separation of Dean and Sam for me.
Still this looks alright enough not the biggest fan of the writers but they have done some decent episodes this might be one I will watch.
Well they have done one part of the B&S story ie the relentless pursuit, losing their traditional hiding places and allies. But they haven't, yet, done the buddy story of B&S against the world that I was expecting. As I said above, so far it is more 'Butch does X while Sundance does Y', than a united team working together. Its like Dean and Sam are so consumed by their own issues they can't connect with, or help, each other at the moment. It is angsty, and well acted, and great TV in lots of ways, but I miss what I watch the show for - the relationship between Sam and Dean.
