This has been a surreal experience for me. First I found out weeks ago Supernatural was getting this honor in Variety, and then I found I was chosen to write an article. Upon coming up with an angle, they were intrigued by the idea of how the show did fan meta episodes "The Monster at The End of This Book," and "The Real Ghostbusters." They couldn't fathom why Eric Kripke did that. So, I got to ask him why and he gave me a fantastic statement on how these episodes came to be. I was also able to give a brief shoutout to the International fanbase, and was able to use information Marta Kent of Supernatural Russia recently sent me about the popularity of Supernatural in her country. I'm even more happy that Variety printed it, for the International fans have really made a difference.
The link to the article is here. If you have trouble reading (since if you aren't registered with the site Variety will black out the screen), I'll share a link at the bottom of this article for Supernatural Fans Online, who have reprinted all the articles in the issue.

There are two articles from Nicholas Knight, who writes for Supernatural Magazine. The first features some comments from Jared and Jensen, the second is a great look at Supernatural's evolution with Kripke and a few of his producers.

There is also an article from our good friend Maureen Ryan! This is her testament to being a superior journalist, she can in so few words say so much about what makes Supernatural special. It rocks!

This article is from Jon Burlingame, who has written a few music themed articles for Variety. He takes on how the music makes Supernatural so extraordinary and profiles the people behind it.

The final article is from the Variety staff, and it just covers some overall ratings numbers for the show, including the appeal for younger women.

I'm not sure about all of you, but I can't help but get emotional at seeing our show get this kind of honor. It's well deserved and hey, it only took 100 episodes. Here's to 100 more!

VARIETY is really giving us the red carpet treatment here, and I am so proud of SUPERNATURAL and YOU! Your article is delightful! I went to four stores to try and buy the issue, but they were sold out, so I'm going to fan out my efforts and see if I can't find some in other stores. At least I know they're available here on Long Island.
Again, Alice, congrats to the max, you wrote a superb article and deserve kudos!
Love, Robin
What an honour it must be to be asked for your input.
Just think this may open the doors for other magazines and maybe even TV Guide when they come to their senses.
Cheers!
Congrats again!
Thanks for sharing this!
It was really cool of Variety to do a dedicated SPN feature though!
So glad they are finally recognizing what we knew all along, that this is an exceptional show and worthy of all the fans love.
Thanks for the opportunity for us to read all of the articles.
it just occurred to me that I told you how proud I am of you that you got this stint in Variety on other occasions, but didn't do so, yet, here, publicly and on this site! Ah, shame on me - so here it is: please imagine some singing at the top of her lungs: Congratulations... Congratulations...
