Samantha Ferris has often been cast in strong female roles in many sci-fi series, including “Stargate: SG-1,” “Smallville,” “The 4400” and “Battlestar Galactic” to name a few.  She has also performed in several movies including “V,” “The Evidence,” “Seven Deadly Sins,” and one of my favorites, “Along Came a Spider.”

It’s no wonder then that with credentials like these the producers of Supernatural looked to the gifted and multitalented Ferris to portray Ellen Harvelle, the take-no-crap owner of the Roadhouse, a favorite gathering spot for hunters like John, Dean and Sam Winchester.

Ellen Harvelle is one of the most memorable character’s the series has ever seen and her death scene is thought to be the most heart wrenching ever filmed for the series, and Samantha’s favorite.

Samantha Ferris was gracious enough to grant me her time to talk about her past as a radio announcer, her insights into the entertainment industry and her character.  She also talks a little about Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Jim Beaver, and the show in general. Huge thanks to Ms Ferris for taking the time from her busy schedule to do this interview.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – working on “Supernatural” has been one of the highlights of my professional career. I am truly indebted to each and every one of you who have embraced my character and enabled me to come back to the show repeatedly to play – without question – the most fun character I’ve ever had the good fortune to play.”  - Richard Speight Jr.

Most often when we think of guest stars for a show, we think of those that are in front of the camera.  But that is not where all the superstars work their magic.  There is one guest star for each episode that stays behind the camera and has one of the most important roles for the series.  That is the director, and we are fortunate to have one of the most well-known “Supernatural” directors for our interview series – Guy Norman Bee.

Let’s face it, female characters on “Supernatural” with eyes for either of our beloved Winchester brothers do not fare well with fans…normally.  For me, there is one exception to that rule, and that is Cindy Sampson’s character Lisa Braeden, Dean’s love interest in season three and his one and only attempt at a normal life in season 6.

With the kind of history that has befallen other female guest stars of ‘Supernatural”, it wasn’t a big surprise to hear that Cindy expected early on that her character would be one of the most hated in the series, but that is not the way things worked out. In fact, many viewers found themselves defending Lisa Braeden. The group of fans at Jensen Ackles' Q&A session I attended last October told Jensen Cindy’s performance was brilliant; and I have seen and heard many similar compliments in articles, blogs and on message boards since then.

For those of you who love the science fiction/horror scene, you are sure to be very familiar with the face of Matt Cohen, a super talented actor who is quickly making himself a very established presence on television and in the motion picture industry.

One aspect of the series that has always impressed me was the ability of the casting department to successfully locate high quality child actors and actresses for “Supernatural.”  Many of these young performers have been nominated for awards subsequent to their “Supernatural” roles.  And a number have gone on to win those awards for their “Supernatural” characters.  One such actor is the very talented 14-year-old Colin Ford, a very nice young man who agreed to do a summer interview with us.

I was extremely happy to receive the reply from Gabriel Tigerman that he would be willing to do an interview for WFB this summer.  If any of you have seen him at a convention, you already know how hilarious, spontaneous and quick-witted he can be.  A master at improvisation, he has so much joy and energy that he just bounces from one question to the next, each enhanced with Gabe’s special brand of talent so that even answers to bizarre questions are interesting and funny which is an instant fan delight. And this interview is no exception.

The second in the series of guest star interviews is the lovely and talented Lindsey McKeon who is best known to us as the sensitive but very savvy reaper, Tessa who has appeared in three episodes of the “Supernatural” series…so far.  I say ‘so far’, because Tessa is one of the few characters that is still alive on the series…at least as ‘alive’ as a reaper can be.

Our good friend Marta Kent at Supernatural Russia recently did an interview with Todd Stashwick, who played the Dracula shapeshifter in "Monster Movie."  He's also done some recent episodes on "Detroit 1-8-7", "Private Practice" and "Better With You."  Todd has become somewhat popular with Supernatural fans, attending a Salute To Supernatural convention in NJ and also meeting with fans at Comic Con.  He's also on Twitter, @ToddStashwick.

As with other interviews, Supernatural Russia has given us permission to repost the interview in English (they tend to publish our interviews in Russian on their site).  I've met Todd a couple of times before and each time he's been a riot (He calls me the redhead from Cherry Hill since I got to talk to him at length at that con).  He truly does love meeting fans and having fun with them.

The interview in Russian can be found a the link below.  Enjoy!
